When the director Peter Berg was making this movie, he met with the families of the three fallen SEALs. When he met Danny’s father, he said that he took Berg up to Danny’s old room and handed him a piece of paper. Berg realized this was the autopsy of Danny from the military. Danny’s father told him “my son was shot in the left ankle, he was shot in the right calf, in the right thigh, in the groin, he was shot twice in the stomach, he was shot twice in the throat, he was shot three times in the head.” And as he read this paper Berg said they both began to cry, and Danny’s father said, “that’s who my son was. That’s how tough my son was. You make sure you get that right.”
Goosebumps!
And got shot in the hand and it blew his thumb off
The guy at the beginning who tells the new guy to clean all this up is the real Marcus Luttrell.
After the war, to help deal with PTSD, Luttrell was given a therapy dog he named Dasy for his teammembers initials. One day some punk kids shot his dog in the middle of the night for no reason and he chased them for miles before cops stopped them. That story became the inspiration for the movie John Wick
The guy who went out in the middle of the fight to call for rescue had a Navy destroyer named after him and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor-Lt. Michael P. Murphy
Lt. Michael Murphy won the Medal of Honor for his selfless sacrifice that day
I had the honor of being the driver for Marcus when he came to Atlanta. He was such a humble and nice guy
What's crazy about Marcus is that after he recovered from his injuries, he went back to active duty and was deployed back to Afghanistan. You should react to Marcus speech where he list the severity of his injuries.
Actually he went to Iraq next.
Whole movie is a lie and I’ve lost respect for Lutrell. They found his kit with full mags. Full mags on his gear. Almost the entire movie is a fabrication of how it really happened.
I love how they all stayed in the fight until their last breath. NO ONE gave up. That level of heart, conviction, and valor is incredible.
Sadly, the old man at 17:23 was saying “You will all die tonight.”
That old man goat shepherd with the 2 kids that they let go told them "you all will be dead before morning."
Oh, Thanks foe sharing!!
In RL when Mike Murphy climbed out on that rock ledge to make that call, he was screaming for Marcus to come help him, but Marcus said he couldn't get to him so he covered his ears so he didn't hear his friend die. Marcus said when Ax was hit by the RPG he was tossed through the air and he never saw him again after that. Which later on when they came back for the bodies, they found him about 200 feet from where he was hit by the RPG.
Fun fact: The man who saved him Gulab now lives here in Texas.
Hi Emma, the man at the table in the begining wearing a Navy watch cap. The one that spills the coffee and tells the new guy here's your first op clean it up. Is the real Marcus Luttrell, he was also on the helicopter but he's hard to spot.
Part of this film was filmed in NM.
Gotta watch 13 Hours
By far my favorite war movie..
I remember watching this movie at home when it come out to rent. I was like 15. Uncle is a Navy vet as an E.O.D. I watched the entire thing without shedding a tear. Until the credits rolled. I balled my eyes out quietly for a solid 20 mins. Intense movie. My uncle told me got to meet Marcus and I just thought how meaningful that must’ve been.
5:24 that's the actual Marcus Luttrell
This is definately one the best war film telling modern Warfare. Other two good are: Blackhawk Down (2001) and The Outpost (2020)
YES. The Outpost is criminally overlooked.
And "13 Hours".
@@BooDamnHoono one talks about that one. By far my favorite and one of the more accurate yet disliked because it is so accurate and proves the incompetence in Obama and Hillary
The boy called him, Mamma!
I watched this movie in the theaters when I was 11 years old. I noticed the amount of used tissue that were stuffed in the cup holders due to people wiping their tears to the tragedy. After watching this movie, this became my most favorite movie of all time.
They also teach them to slow down their heartbeat so they remain submerged underwater for extended periods. Not many recruits actually make it through BUDS training and become a Navy Seal.
Tears of the sun or Act of valor both great movies
Did you see this audio clip of him in a high speed chase with someone that shot and killed his dog? Absolutely crazy
Great reaction and review. Thank you
Thank you too!
In the beginning of the movie is the actual Navy Seals Buds training. Also known as hell week
He is heroic. Anyone who put their lives on the line for our country deserves praises. It is a great military movie. Just about the best.
To really understand what Marcus Lutrell went through, both read the book and look up his speech about the operation.
They should have zip tied the goat herders and took them up the mountain establish communications then let them go.
The part that's truly heartbreaking is that Taliban have official full control of Afghanistan now.
Et comme les Yankee sont partis en abandonnant tout le matériel. Ils sont sur leur vidéo sur TH-cam équipés entièrement US. Les taleb paradent !
The Taliban has MULTIPLE “embassies”.. they have hubs in multiple countries, as far as bodies they’re bigger than the cartel and have people being sent in with full passports to the southern border, the very same one being opened by this administration
When they found the radio on the old man, they knew he wasn't just a civilian, they knew he was with the Taliban. They knew that when they let them go, they were going to go straight back to the main group and tell them where they were.
Marcus actually in a few scenes during the movie
Saddest thing is that it’s a true story. Also the survivor is in the background of certain parts of the movie
A story full of lies
when they released the old man he said " you will all be dead before tomorrow"
One of my favorite movies
Ce qui a sauvé Marcus c'est le code hautement civilisé du pashtunwali. Salutations distinguées de France 🇫🇷, occitanie, Aveyron, Decazeville
Makes my eyes leak every damn time😢
Great reaction Emma, always enjoyed this one, thanks for your reaction. 😊❤
Marcus Luttrell was on the Joe Rogan podcast, and talked about his gun fight with his brother's, and about the movie.
Amazing work by the stuntmen who worked on this film.
The footage is from a documentary Buds class 234. Watch it
Now you're ready for 13 Hours
I love them patriots, something this new generation don't understand.
great reaction
After Lt Mike Murphy death Greg Glassman, founder of CrossFit, announced a workout in honor of Lt Murphy. It was named the Murph Challenge. On memorial day the workout is performed at CrossFit affiliates, military bases, and Navy ships around the world. The regimen of a one mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats and another mile run, while wearing the body armor vest. I have performed this workout several times and it is very challenging.
Proof you’ve done it ? Anyone can say “ I did that , I did this” etc.
17:21 "You're all going to die tonight."
Love your channel! Thank you!
The book was amazing...the ending with Peter Gabriel version of HEROES is gut wrenching
Marcus still lives in our state of Texas and tours given his story out and book signing and such even goes on pod casts.
love you Emma
What a powerful movie. Thanks for watching it. Very hard.
So what the guy being released said when let go was “you will all die tonight” or something of those lines
A personal note...u look like my mom, when she was a young model!
Wow!!! Thank you !!!
Lt. Michael Murphy was the leader Ema.
U can see lots of Marcus Lutrell shorts, here. Other true type or True story movies are saving Private Ryan, 13 hours, Lone Survivor, hacksaw Ridge, Once we were Soldiers, Blackhawk Down,1917, Dunkirk, Thin Red Line, Unbroken Big Red One, Hamburger Hill, American sniper. This direct is Peter Berg. A decent actor but a real eye for true story movies. Check out Deepwater Horizon, and I think he also did, The Perfect Storm.
He is now in Congress!😮. SOAR chopper pilots....truly as good as it gets. They are asked to do the impossible, as routine. I was in 1st Ranger Battalion. Typically we are backup for any missions involving seals, Delta, SF, things like that.
Please Emma, watch Saving Private Ryan & Hacksaw Ridge. Best Military movies in my opinion 👌.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
They actually fought over 200 men and killed over 100
Hello Emma it's so good to see you hope you're having a fantastic day looking beautiful as ever
Thank you! You too!
You have to follow
The f$*king new guy (FNG) dance was taken from a dance performed in the movie - NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE.
I respect Murphy for trying to show compassion for human life and not killing the herders. What a tough decision as you know letting them go runs a great risk obviously but killing 2 kids and an old man just didnt seem like the choice either and he figured tying them up and leaving them there in the cold at night and animals, was the same as putting a bullet in their head plus the worry of potential court martial if they were found out. Best thing in hindsight, was take them with you a good distance then let them go as you get a safe distance from the town where shah was located with his men, then send them on their way back as you get nearer to the extract location. Great movie but to see the taliban having control of it today, makes you say wtf did all these americans die here for only to see the taliban in charge today. Just sickens me.
Yes that was always my thought too. There were FOUR options instead of three. Bringing them with you until you establish comms, and then freeing them.
But hindsight is just that.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hind sight.....coulda hobbled them....sprain an ankle so they couldnt run fast.
Actually, u do know the truth about this part of the war in Afghanistan. Marcus Lutrell wrote a book about the time he spent on the mountain.
U look so pretty 😍 . Great movie to react to.
Thank you!! 😊
3 idiots for next
Emma, dirt in the wound! Yes we are not concerned about infection in the field, we have antibiotics at the base, let's just stop the bleeding and get back to base.
if you would like to know more about those 3 men of the 4 there is behind the scenes videos on here which talks to their loved ones who tell you alot more stuff about each of them .
Beautiful reaction Emma
Watch Hell or High Water
It's good
Ok!! 👍
Hi Emma big fan of your channel the guy with the hat on who tips the drinks over and tells the new guy to clean it is called Marcus luttrell and Mark wahlburg plays him in the movie up was the only person who survived the actual mission in real life he's actually the person who told the story and the events or what happened
Just watched your reaction to Pretty Woman, and I had to recommend another romantic comedy: Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), starring Hugh Grant in the role that basically gave him a career. :) I think I've recommended it before, and I just know you'd love it.
I recently heard another SEAL who was in Afghanistan when this happened talk about this and his reason why the Chinooks didn't have air-support when they tried to land was because they were simply faster than the Apache's so they got there first and didn't want to wait.
rest of the bourne series plz
Those are the Navy Seals!!!!
hey! can you please react to the movie, "The Whale". its an amazing movie; you will love it.
This disscion cost them their life.
You have to watch Marcus Luttrells speech on the actual events of what happened, the movie was good but it doesn’t do enough justice to the real story
21:40 24:45
Watch...."The First Medal of Honor Ever Recorded" -John Chapman....please....
It is funny how we are in an age where we are spreading American Patriotism around the world
The beginning of the movie is footage of BUD/S 234 class. If you want to know more about Mike you should read the book "SEAL of Honor". They didn't fight 200,300 fighters but definitely more than 12,13 like people say. After the bird got hit by the RPG, a few rangers were sent out for casualty recovery and hostage rescue (Marcus) and there were definitely a lot of Taliban there and they were holding out in the village until air support and the marines arrived to relieve them. There is a lot of small crazy details did not get mentioned in the movie but was mentioned in the books (Lone survivor, SEAL of honor), Mikey was screaming for help but Marcus was not able to do anything because they were pinned down and i think Axe was already separated with Marcus.
The villager who saved Marcus was a doctor in the village and they actually stayed in there for many days before the rescue team arrived (the rescue mission went for 2 weeks instead of a day like they planned) and i, the doctor was threated by the Taliban and it took a hell lot of work to make the US government to finally brought that guy here. Side story, Marcus's twin brother is also a SEAL too and i think there was a pair of twin brothers also graduated in class 300. Murphy's BUD/S class was also crazy, he was on the football team in Penn State and was going into laws like his dad, he changed his mind and trained for an year and went into navy to be a SEAL, he only had one chance because he is an officer (enlisted guys get 3 tries), he broke his leg and had a nasty infection but he lasted few more days before they pulled him out (didn't count as fail since it's medical issue) and he almost lost his leg. He then re-enter hell's week for the next class and passed.
I had the honor to meet a lot of team guys and be a friend with few of them. Met few of the guys from team 6 when i was a high school kid summer working in Virginia Beach but sadly they passed away during the 2011 Chinook crash. Some of the greatest people you can meet.
If you want to watch a military movie that will break your heart watch Taking Chance
Emma your reactions are amazing. Thank you for sharing. I have a crush on you.
Operation redwings had multiple things fail like when the SEALs were being dropped offed they were compromised by locals which told the taliban which made the taliban hunt them down.
They ignored the advice of the Marines (who the poached the mission from) to bring more powerful radios because the Marines knew that communication wasn’t great out there.
Instead of being dropped off from a distance than walking to their target they got dropped off close to the target location which made them compromised easier (they tried to to false inserts through out the week to trick the locals but that made the locals know that a mission was going to happen soon).
The ropes they used to fast rope per norm were disconnected to the helicopter they came in, but the SEALs failed to hide the rope which the locals found when they went to go to investigate which confirmed Americans were there.
Realistically they were fighting about about a local number of 12 taliban fighters not the huge amount you see. The fight was quick, and not drawn out like in the movie so the SEAL team was killed pretty quick.
It’s one of those missions that should’ve been called off, and they should’ve been picked up when they were compromised.
100%. I recently read a book called Victory Point that went into great detail about this op and all these points were covered thoroughly. Really unfortunate this all happened.
The old man said, "You will die tonight."
Where's avengers end game?
If this story is true Marcus Luttrell is the whole reason his team is dead. I was in thecArmy for 8 years and I can tell you I would not have Luttrell in my foxhole. Why people celebrate a man who got his whole team killed I will never know.
I got the same impression. At least was an influence in that decision.
All because the kid hurried down the mountain as fast as he could and told the taliban about them period whatever else you think is crap.
