@@NachttiSchlampE65 General Petraeus has criticized the West for not giving Ukraine what they need. He said they should have had shorad, air cover, deep strike capability, attack choppers, and cluster munitions months ago. He says give them rockets for deep strikes with cluster munitions. Most of these things they still don't have.
Biden seems to have forgotten how many US personnel died in Vietnam due to direct Russian/USSR assistance with sams, technicians, trainers, jets, and other advanced or gen - 1 equipment. Russia delivered their stuff directly by plane and ship, not via a 3rd party transfer. A lot more Ukrainians and equipment would be around if they had been given HIMARS when they asked for it!
Lastly, Petraeus said NATO itself could not deal with all those mines and defense in depth without air superiority , let alone without air cover. Russia has overlook, spotted artillery on a grid. For Ukraine, the airspace is pretty much not even contested! Ukraine lacks air shorrad and has no air cover. I still do not understand why Ukraine and the West talked about a spring offensive 8 - 9 months in advance instead of going for surprise and mis-direction like they did in the successful Fall offensive. Ukrainian troops break through the most difficult Russian defense line: 'It will go faster from now on'
Ukrainian troops believe they have broken through the most difficult Russian defense line in the south and are now advancing faster. So says a Ukrainian commander who fights there.
“We have passed the main roads with mines. We are now approaching the lines where we can advance. I'm sure we'll go faster from here," said the commander.

Surprise surprise - Ukr loses a lot of forces to 'take' a few fields and Ru immediately counters so that they lose even more. People would have thought that Ukr and the West would have learned by now what Ru's m.o is
This is basic infantry tactics. Flanking , pincers and counterattack. Guerilla warfare is more intelligent and more covert.
@@idomalion6167 Yeah, but guerilla tactics work because they avoid big confrontations. Guerilla fighters are usually limited in numbers, so they cannot afford to engage in conventional battles. Similarly, two big armies, such as RU and UA, cannot really fight in guerilla warfare.
@idomalion6167 problem is, they can't use that tactic if their objectives is to retake areas that aren't sympathetic to them and if they do with the sympathetic areas they would just accept the Russian gains, so they need those offensives regardless, is not like they have other options for their purpose.

I am curious how many first lines of defense there are? Seems like it keeps resetting to one?
We hear more than 10,000 Polish forces have died in Ukraine not including the others. So this is a direct Russia/NATO war.
Rather than one continuous line it appears to be strongholds, hedgehogs, or positional fighting. Hmmm. To concentrate all their forces into an armored fist might work if tactical nuclear weapons are not employed in Soviet Doctrinal fashion. If. If. If.If. if.??

2. they may have not enough troops and equipment to penetrate the whole structure
3. they may have not enough "" to exploit a highly unexpectable breakthrough
