It’s funny how Bishop and Cable fight to save the timelines in “Time Fugitives” episodes, only to find Bishop is the one who basically saves Cable when he’s a child
Making the clone issue a situation where they both believe themselves to be Jean Grey, instead of the "oh she looks just like my dead girlfriend I must fall in love with her" It's just so much better. For starters doesn't make Scott thoroughly unlikeable on the situation, but the added layer of yet another Jean persona questioning who the real Jean is just build on the established character with Phoenix, instead of feeling like a retcon the way Madelyne was ultimately explained. Yet now I am just so curious where they are taking Maddie now, it could be completely unexplored territory with her being far more... neutral I guess.
This adaptation of the Madeline Pryor/Goblin Queen story arc is honestly FAR better than in the comics. Originally Madeline broke bad not because of Sinister’s influence, but from Scott abandoning her for the real Jean. Which made Scott look horrible because while Madeline is a clone she’s still the mother of his child and their feelings for each other were in fact real. And I loved that in the end Madeline was freed of Sinister’s control and will now live her own life free to do what she wants. It was also a great idea to have their memories merge so that no one knows who was who during when. Also I loved her costume redesign. Instead of looking like it was designed by a horny teenage boy she looks like an actual witch. And I’m still surprised that the animators made the nightmare scenes look like if Guillermo Del Toro did a remake of The Thing.
Actually she not only broke bad because of Scott’s abandonment, but also because she found out that she was a clone while also being manipulated by demons from inferno. I also think in the comics her name makes more sense, due to the whole deal with demons.
this series is the best marvel/disney has to offer. This episode is so good, from every perspective. They have done the impossible: make something that is better than the OG series. This is the marvel stories, action, character building that we would like to see....
Jennifer Hale is amazing. The reason why I played Fem Commander Shephard in the Mass Effect series is because of Jennifer Hale. IF you have the games (get the legendary edition, has all 3 and all the dlc) and haven't played as Fem Shephard, then you are missing out. Also this show is so good and your first initial reaction/review was spot on. I am so excited for the rest of this season. The entire production is knocking it out of the park. Love these reactions, thanks for getting them up as fast as you can especially with all the tech gremlins!
Jennifer Hale put in the work here. Shepard, Bastilla Shan. Hell, one of my oldest favorite games was Grandia 2, where she played Millenia, who this Madeline Pryor is incredibly similar to in voice and let's say, spicyness.
As good as she is as Jean, I loved her as Carol in Earth's Mightiest Heroes. To be fair, that might have been because she was pretty much playing Carol as FemShep.
It feels like this show was made for people who grew up with the original show. I'm so happy that they leaned into the people who watched it originally and also makes it approachable for new viewers. This show is the best thing Marvel has done in a long time
The Animation was done by Naseer Pasha. The Head of Stray Dogs studio. The same guys that made that amazing fan film Dragonball Legend- A Dragons Tale. Naseer is very 80's and 90's specific when it comes to animation. That's why it looks like it belongs from that era.
Slight correction. While it is true that Naseer is credited as the animation lead in the show, it is unfair to only give him credit for the animation. The hand drawn and CG animation was done by Studio Mir.
I think this version did the story they took better, they did not make MAdeline the villian (I mean yes briefly but I mean long term) because she was the victim and so they fixed that they made it clear... that woman was a victim
I also like the fact that Bishop takes Nathan into the future. The fact that they are from different timelines makes comic book canon unnecessarily complicated, and eventually makes Bishop kind of a side character once the 'traitor' storyline is resolved. Making him Cable's mentor makes a lot of sense because of their similarities but I'm mostly excited that they gave Bishop a potentially more central role in future (hehe) stories.
The end of the episode does raise questions. When did sinister make the switch? Was it before the Phoenix? Before Scott and Jean got married? Shortly after the professor was killed?
This Goblin Queen performance really harkins back to my first Jennifer Hale character experience: another spicy redhead, Millenia from Grandia 2. So I kinda got hit by two waves of nostalgia in this episode.
I love that Forge shows up in the end! I know nothing about him but i play Marvel Snap! Im loving this show tho! Learning alot about Morph and Bishop!!
This episode definitely has me looking forward to a Bishop centric episode set in the future with Shard, old man Forge, kid Cable, and hopefully some surprise characters. Also, speaking of Forge, I hope we get more appearances by Indigenous American mutants e.g. Thunderbird, Warpath, and Mirage.
I'm definitely thinking nimrod is a guarantee in the bishop cable story. I'd like morph to do more villains, omega red comes to mind, but I feel like whomever morph cameo-turns into, eliminates the possibility of that actual character from appearing this season. With the exception of Charles, I see what they did adding a lilandra cutscene this most recent intro.
I had friends who also saw the first three at the early screening and they were right about how unhinged and horny this show is. It's bloody awesome. I'm glad now everyone is caught up and we all can be surprised together as to what is coming.
I’d love if they retroactively made this show the origin of X-23 who was introduced in the following animated show (X-Men: Evolution) She has been so popular in the comics and the movie and has been in both of the two other main X-Men animated shows so it would be cool if she’s could be introduced into this show which is set before the year she was created That would be a cool Wolverine story as we’ve seen his fatherly side explored with Jubilee so it would be cool to see more of that as I think that’s when he’s at his best when he’s a mentor

I could see how this episode would be right up Adam’s alley, with all the horror references. This episode gave me Nightmare on Elm Street vibes in the best way. And you guys caught the anime references!!! 🙌🏾 Each episode gets better and better!
Loving this show. I haven't watched the original show since I was a kid in the 90's so I don't remember almost anything plot-wise but the aesthetic, the feel of the show, it just feels right. The dialogue keeps some of that cheesiness and theatricality that was so characteristic of the time but is so well written that it manages to bridge the gap between what was and is now and it blends in with the familiar characters but much upgraded animation. Can't wait for the rest of the episodes.
See I don't know though. Live action means this is all green screen and CGI. This flows better, and quiet frankly, I feel this is more adult than most live action stuff they have now with the exception of Deadpool.
The next old villian I want to see is Omega Red as far as new villain's I want to see Vulcan, Stryfe, Arcade, Danger, Matthew Malloy, Cyttorak, Namor, Cassandra Nova, Miss Sinister, or Onslaught
