DODGE CHALLENGER/ CHARGER UPGRADES FROM R/T TO NEARLY HELLCAT PERFORMANCE!

In this mission, we set out to develop a series of packages for Dodge Challenger / Charger R/Ts with the full of potential 5.7l G3 Hemi. The goal was to select a group of components that would improve the performance, in the first step, noticeably, then in the next step, to approaching Scat Pack performance and then in the last step, to closing in on a stock Hellcat. We were shooting for costs that were less than or around half of what it would have cost you had you bought a Scat Pack or Hellcat. We wanted all these modifications to be emissions compliant and completely maintain driveability and durability. This package utilized parts from our friends at Whipple Superchargers and Sipple Transmissions. A very nice, generally unmolested R/T and these changes would run you less than $30k…a cool 11.5 daily for a lot less money than many think is possible, especially when using a G3 Hemi.
In the end, the R/T and its often under appreciated 5.7l, showed off some of its mid 11s capability with Jena behind the wheel in her first ever drag race. We dialed it and her in, in the summer air and she nearly won the 12.00 index Hemi Challenge class. All this with the little hard, stock 245 tires. Twenty thousand daily beater, parts runner, track support car miles later, it became known as the ‘Greybird’.
