- One of my Steemit followers suggested that I make a video talking about things you shouldn't do on the Steemit platform. I thought this was a great idea considering all of my videos so far have been about things you should do to build your channel and following. Today I will discuss everything from plagiarism, to flagging, to spamming. I hope you guys enjoy it!

Great tips for new users and experienced Steemians alike! The part about being 'Accountable' for your actions can't be stressed enough...At present (and I hope it lasts) I am more than happy to recommend Steemit to anyone as it's so family friendly.

Thank you for making these videos - I only heard of Steemit yesterday, so these are handy for researching before I get started.
Concerning the comment from the guy that left you constructive criticism: I always go off on 'rabbit trails' when I talk about something. I don't think I could do a video and just talk about a thing without going off on five other (somewhat related) topics. So you stay on track way more than I would!
Can't wait to do music and music lessons on there! With little competition, there's a chance we could snag hold of the community before the competition gets rough.
Great video. You answer a lot of the questions I was trying to find answers to. Steemit is such an innovative platform! I'm happy to have found it.
This video was very helpful. I signed up for steemit about 8 months ago, but have't been very consistent. In a way this is no different than online marketing and running an actual blog along with seo. However, this video was insightful... but the entire concept of Steemit is sort of over my head.
It is a way for vblog'rs to get some money.

Thanks for this video. I just discovered Steemit. So it's good to know what not to do.
1) I may have gotten white listed by Cheetah. I started replying and saying that what Cheetah found was indeed my website and I've not seen Cheetah in a while. Also, what I do sometimes is post to Steemit first and then to my website on wordpress.
2) I use Pexels a lot. Or my own images. A lot of pics are the same on both Pexels and Pixabay but there are some unique ones on each one of them. About posting someone else's video, some people don't even write a blurb about it, which is kind of annoying at times.
3) In my first few months on Steemit I learnt about the Etiquette and even wrote my own post about it too. The Etiquette is a bit different for some of the finer details, but the main points are the same for everyone and mostly common sense.
4) That too is common sense. "Nic post" not even spelled right. "Wonderful post...great...fantastic...come upvote resteem...I upvote you...fantastic post." Like seriously! lol Hey, I'll take the SBD if they send it. TIP Tell people if you just followed them in a good long comment. They'll probably follow you back. Oh, I think BuildAWhale black listed many of the IntroduceYourself spammers, so a lot of them are gone.
5) Depends. Steemitboard has rewards for posting 4 times a day. If I post 4 times (rarely) I don't post the same topic in the same day, and wait a couple of hours in between. Many of my followers tune in to different topics, so at different times of day I'll post different topics.
6) Downvoting is sometimes used to cyberbully, but I've never encountered that. If I don't like someone or what they said, I discuss with them, connect. I don't get involved. If someone uses my content, never happened, but I guess I would contact SteemCleaners and NOT flag it. That 3 possibilities solution would be good. Thumbs up, thumbs down and flag. New people might be confused and flag us accidentally :o
7) I've been growing organically, have not even used bots for upvotes and such, I go with the organic curators like OCD.
8) Sometimes I omit to proof-read and then notice an error and I go crazy lol My biggest pet-peeve is noticing my own grammar errors.
9) ONLY upvote your own comment if it got A LOT of upvotes and is very long. BOTH those. I've upvoted my own comments a handful of time only in one year.
10) Everyone's been very friendly and giving tips and such. I like it when people are engaging.
Love these tips. It's good to check in every once in a while to make sure I'm still following the right etiquette and such :)
Steemit absorbed my channel name after I crated a profile and page- and I can not get back in .i never got to post anything. sucks

QUESTION. what are the copyright "FAIR USE" policies on Steemit. Are we still allowed to use other people's material if it's under fair use? Some please answer this question and point me in the right direction on information. Thanks
This Cheetah thing sounds like a troll bot
Trying to get into steemit and have been reading their FAQ. Under the plagarisim, spam and abuse part, they consider posts that require upvotes to enter or play in a contest or game as abuse.
Is it then worth the risk of doing contest like the one your're doing -"follow, upvote, comment, and win SBD"?
Since it's "free money" i guess noone that's participation will flag your content, but if someone does flag it wouldn't it be hard to get your reputation back/of the blacklist?
Great question! However, I’m not running a contest. I’m simply rewarding my followers for participating in the conversation on my channel. Plus, nobody “has” to upvote, resteem, follow, or comment on my post to view it and enjoy it. There are lottery posts on Steemit which are exactly that - a lottery. And I don’t see much point in that. Anyways, Steemit is built around rewards so nothing wrong with offering even more rewards to your followers out of your own pocket. But great question.

Can articles be posted or do you need to author you’re posting? I noticed that videos are not to be shared and must be made by the steemit member.
Brandon, good stuff, but you've hit on something I would like an answer to, if I create content and I post it SteemIt and on my Wordpress Blog, yeah, I can prove I am not plagiarizing, but does the separate posting of the same content have a detrimental effect toward my Steem account in the Steem community?
I just joined steemit and I looked on my menu as you showed at the start of this video and there is no steem shop. What happened to the steem shop, or am I not qualified enough yet to access it?? Thanks for this vid.

I'm not surprised by all the plagiarism on Steemit & DTube, as its a problem a lot of us have dealt with here on TH-cam. We try to include logos in the majority of our videos that clearly identify our brand in hopes of deterring would be thieves from trying to steal our content.

Hey brandon, I flagged two post which were totally garbage. only (asdasdasd) was written and tags were '"life story bla bla " ...I wrote @steemcleaner 5 days ago but nothing happened, can you tell me why they didn't took any action?

So if I was upload say a music video that I down loaded from TH-cam is that wrong and why I know some one else has put it on but can I reupload that video to steemit.
And what about say your dog videos or walking around the veggie patch or craft work I did have a look but nothing seems to there maybe I have to join the site but getting in is very hard up to stage 3 the phone number and that little 5 number you put in I can seem to get any further help.

Can I post my youtube video on dtube without editing like its mentioned subscribe to my youtube channel, Is it an issue with dtube as the video contains image for subscribe to my youtube channel. Please help.
I would edit them to remove the TH-cam graphics.. or you could simply embed your TH-cam videos into your Steemit posts which is what I'm doing.
Hi Brandon - From @super-grand-ad, I suffer from dyslexia. In item 6 you never said ( before Down voting, Flagging etc ) To go check out the steemit members @ first to see what the steemit member is all about. because if there @ page is constructed properly it will explain all about that member and what they do, Then second, to send a reply to the members post or reply, that has upset them in some way and give them a written warning before acting blindly and just downvoting or flagging a post or reply without proper investigation. As this has happened to me, and as a newbie, I now on steemit, Blog, Comments, Replies and Rewards have a rep of 2, but if I click on my wallet, I have a rep of 25 - So Please could you explain why the two different reps? Lastly is there ways to rebuild one's rep? P.S. If you click on my youtube thumbnail, you will see what I am all about

Steemit is an interesting idea, but I don't think much of the content I've seen. Very little of any depth, and very little about my part of the world

Unsure why you keep saying here on steemit if you are on TH-cam. Wouldn't that go against the rules you are talking about?
Because I don't make these videos for a TH-cam audience.. I make them for my Steemit following. TH-cam just hosts my videos for free. Why doesn't steem just disallow upvoting of your own posts? Seems like a pretty easy infrastructural fix.
I actually don't see any issue with being able to upvote your own posts. We're limited to 10 (100%) upvotes per day anyways.. so you can't exactly go crazy with it. Plus, if there was a rule that we couldn't, then people would just create a second account and upvote from there.
