Interesting movie, competently made. The pacing and editing was fast, there were moments where I felt like I was in some sort of a fever dream. It was 2 hours long, yet it always felt like it was rushing you with the scenes and concepts it wanted to present.
I found out about this movie by seeing a clip on Facebook (the part where they froze dude's arm). Found it and have enjoyed it 4 times since. It amazing that tonighg was the 4th time, because I was telling a friend about it, so we watched it. To bad at the end . . . Well, i won't ruin it for those who haven't seen it yet.
This movie is simply a representation of our modern world. Let think that the train represents the World or the universe and the sections represents countries and continents. The trail of the train equals poor countries and the middle and the fronts represents countries that are doing good. As you can see in the movie people from the trail have basically nothing. They eat unhealthy food, they don’t have any medical care at their disposal, they don’t have fresh water etc.. If we’re being honest with ourselves these examples says it all about our modern world. In addition as you go further to the front of the train you realize how comfortable and rich people from the front are. In fact, we can say that if the resources are used intelligently it can actually be sufficient for everyone. DOES THIS REMINDS YOU OF SOMETHING??? If yes let me know.
Snowpiercer is an alright movie, but ends 10 minutes too soon. Audience needed confirmation that the polar bear sees the kids then chases em down proceeds to maul them to death thus making humanity go extinct.
I've always said this movie represents the death of humanity cuz the remaining people all die in the crash but the boy and girl and if anyone thinks that polar bear isn't thinking Happy Meal when he sees them then they've been huffing the Kronus

The movie opens with the claim that 'life outside the train is extinct', the polar bear disproves this. The framing of the movie in the opening, that life no longer exists outside of the train, is an allegory for how life seemingly cannot exist outside of capitalism. Every symbol in the movie is pointing to them being fine. The music that plays in the end credits is even titled 'this is the beginning'. They're fine. The triumph was them getting off the train in the first place.
Felt like I was watching an anime on first impressions… the part with the fish and the train going dark, definitely a “foreign film” sort of scene. With how goofy it was and bright sometimes, felt like an anime. Watched it for the first time last week, because it felt like an indie movie starring captain America. Indie movies generally lack substance.

It's pretty easy to derail a train. A thousand other problems. The only thing that could keep that train running is magic.
The movie is not merely about 'class', it is about capitalism. The train is a metaphor for capitalist society. This is why the kids existing outside of the train in the final moments is a triumphant ending. If you did not understand that allegory, you did not understand the entire point of the movie.

The movie is not merely about 'class', it is about capitalism. The train is a metaphor for capitalist society. This is why the kids existing outside of the train in the final moments is a triumphant ending.
If you did not understand that allegory, you did not understand the entire point of the movie.

If anything the highest class is the most dangerous
because they want to replace the high class and take from lower to get there
