A simple example of the same kind of reasoning you use here is to ask how you verify the existence of dreams? You follow a certain procedure (ie going to sleep) and at some point the experience of the dreaming state occurs. With mystical experience, superconsciousness etc, the procedure is trickier but the principle is still valid and has been validated many times of course. But still they do not accept accumulated testimony (cp nde's also) yet claim to be being scientific.
Vedanta teacher James Swartz, who also goes by the name Ramji, recently said that he doesn't believe Vivekananda was enlightened, and further, that he doesn't think Ramakrishna was taught Vedanta properly, in part because he went into samadhi at will, whereas Swartz apparently finds that as proof that he couldn't have been enlightened! Those claims likely stem from Swartz's faith in Shankaracharya's interpretation of scripture. It's these kinds of controversies that leave seekers with a bad taste and to go looking elsewhere, such as neo-Advaita.
Sri Ramkrishna dev was enlightened. He used to go in Samadhi and come back to this world for the benefit of beings as he has understood that Brahman has become this universe. He had infinite compassion for the suffering of the beings!Various people claim to know vedanta but practically they themselves have not achieved required purification of the mind and the body.their understanding is therefore incomplete!
That's the view of all most people belong to Shankara school... They look at Vivekanda in the lines of Shankara.. Swami Medhananda clears this confusion in his book...
