She been in heaven for 50 years I’ll see her again some day. Very good memories brought back ty. God bless you and your family Amen.
Hi miss Brenda! I love me some baked apples :) And you are so right about going out into the yard first to figure out what you’re gonna do or something along those lines ! I’m glad I stumbled across your channel☘️
Enjoying all 3 of my BRENDA GANTT cookbooks and love watching you Ms. Brenda ❤you're such a joy and pleasure to watch. You explain the instructions so well and easy to understand. Thankyou and God Bless and keep you. Love you ❤
I love when you show your yard with all the seasonal changes. I live in the desert, which has its own beauty. But I must admit my eyes crave the color green😂. Thank you😊
I’ve been baking apples for the last two weeks. Just some raisins, walnuts, cinnamon and orange juice. It’s the most delicious thing for a treat or oatmeal or yogurt or whatever you can imagine. They are scrumptious! And I don’t add any sugar; still sweet.
That apple looked good!! So I peeled and sliced an apple after watching the first video this morning, because my grandson wanted an apple for breakfast this morning with his oatmeal. He likes apples peeled. I decided to put brown sugar and cinnamon over the top of it, with a pat of butter..and cooked it for him. We shared it. It WAS very good! Thank you so much for the recipe. I will try it with bacon one day. Have a great rest of your day Brenda!!!💜💕
Ms.Brenda you reminded me so much of my Grandmother.. She cooked so much like you do. You are an inspiration to me. I pray God will always bless you.. You be safe and take care of yourself. 🙏✝️💞🌹✝️🙏
It looks delicious miss Brenda. I use to make small fried pies with cinnamon on top. I never could get the handle of cracking Hickory nuts. I do know the hickory nut has a green incasement on it and when the nut falls from the tree . If the ground is full of water the hickory nut will rot. In my home town of Cairo Illinois all it done was rain allot in the fall weather. Love you much miss Brenda and I love Jesus like you do dear. Take good care of yourself. Patricia
Love you, Brenda! Always good ideas for any season on your channel brought to us with love - humour & lots of great old fashioned recipes, stories & your unique, caring way! Thank you Brenda - always look for to another vlog❣️
Miss Brenda, I think of you everyday after work when making dinner is the last thing I want do. I tell myself get off your do nothing stool and do something. It gives me the push i meed to get moving. Thanjs for the motivation ❤
I mix together oatmeal, sugar spices and chopped pecans and stuff that into the center of the apple and also put it on top with butter and bake that till the apple is cooked through. Yummy
Hello lady friend, from Washington State, Apples are 5 dollars a box, I just made a batch of apple sauce, and apples for pies. They are golden delicious apples. Have a great day.
I live in Tennessee and the apples they’re calling Golden Delicious here are nothing like what we used to get. Oh how I’d love to have a box of the ones like we used to get.
Never tried putting bacon on apples but it sounds delicious! Beautiful day here in southwest Virginia. Temp is 67 this afternoon and the trees have all turned to beautiful Fall colors.🍂🍁
Ms.Brenda I love tuning in to your videos. I wanna try this recipe you made 😊It's been a gorgeous day today It's gonna be in the 80's & cooler ar at night
I’m in West Tennessee where I was raised but I lived in Cleveland, TN for 13 years. I loved it there and sure miss it. I was just a few miles from the Ocoee River.
BRENDA, I WILL be 82 in November. When I was younger, I would stay with my mother's sister a lot when I was growing up she had 3 Horse Apple trees (that is what she called them) I loved them! I helped her dry those apples, we would peel and slice all the apples she would get, and put the sliced apples out on sheets of tin placed on Saw Horses out in the sun they made the best fried pies!!! Let me just say I ate my share of baked apples. Just wanted to tell you how she baked her apples.....she would take an "apple core" and core each apple and fill the hole up with white sugar and put a little vanilla extract on top of sugar and a nice slice of butter for finishing touch and baked them in a 350 degree oven until done they were delicious ❣️ I have eaten my share of baked apples and fried pies. When there was no more of the Horse apples, I always used the Granny Smith apples they are really good too❣️
Oh my goodness, it makes my heart so happy to hear somebody else talk about drying apples for fried pies the same way my Grandma did. Yes, we would gather up our apples from under her trees and peel them. Then she would get the saw horses out and put the sheets of tin on them and then she’d spread a white bed sheet over the tin. Next we’d spread the thinly sliced apples out on the sheet to dry. Of course it took a few days for them to dry. When they were finally dried enough she would store them in a pillowcase in the freezer. Oh the excitement and joy it would bring when I saw her getting that pillowcase out and putting a stewer of apples on to cook down so she could make the pies for it was a special treat when she made them. She used them sparingly throughout the year so as not to run out before time to dry some more the next year. She made the best tender flaky pie crust that she would roll out what seemed like paper thin and then she’d spread a thin layer of apples on that crust and fry them in her black iron skillet. I learned a great deal of my cooking skills and knowledge from her but no matter how hard I’ve tried I’ve never been able to replicate those delicious fried pies. We also dried peaches in the same way and they were actually my favorite fried pie. I can close my eyes and just see the plate she always used for them and it with a dozen or so stacked on it with two turned one way and the next two turned the other way because two covered the whole plate! You can’t find apples and peaches now as good as the ones they grew back then. I’ve got a bag of golden delicious apples on my kitchen table right now and I’m planning to make a casserole dish of baked apples today. I’ve got the set of round aluminum “pie pans” she used to make cobblers in and I can do a pretty good job of making a cobbler like she did with a crust on the bottom, layer of fruit, crust and another layer of fruit, crust, layer of fruit and crust on top sprinkled with sugar and some slices of butter. We made blackberry, strawberry, apple, peach, grape and pear cobblers. We also made butter rolls using leftover dough. Sometimes we made chocolate or sometimes just plain with sugar and butter. I’m not near as old as you (I’m 64) but I stayed with my Grandma after school and during the summer when school was out. She was a cook at the elementary school and since she never learned to drive she rode the bus with us. As you can tell, I spent a great deal of time with her. Thank you so much for bringing these sweet, very special and wonderful memories to my mind. I hope you have a wonderful and blessed day and may God continue to richly bless you. ♥️🙏♥️
