Yes, you are absolutely right. Pretty much the same speaker with a different grill. I bet they use the exact same board inside, based on the fact that they both have the same behavior of showing 90% charged in the iOS battery widget when they're plugged in. Then when you unplug them, turn them off, and turn them back on, then connect them to your phone or other device, they show 100%. Any sound difference you hear probably has to do with the grill.

I kept thinking one was better than the other, but the one that was better was switching between the soundcore 3 and select 2. Neither of them have a very strong low base response, look at the $60 soundcore boost for that.
