Good to know. I just picked one up even tho a lot of people hate on this knife. I think a lot have to do with not using one and jealousy of a premium cordless fillet knife. Great video to to point 👍🏻
Moustafa Kaid, I was super reluctant to spend the money, but now that I have and I used it for a good afternoon, well worth it! I hope you have good luck with yours! Thanks for watching I appreciate it
I scale my crappie and leave the skin on when I clean them because I love the skin it has good flavor when fried up crispy and also because I don't even know how to separate the meat well without messing it up anyway
Nice knife! And glad you went back and did the filet after flipping the tail. Would have had the crappie purest filling up your comments if you hadn't. Great job, nice video barfly!
I don’t flip the fillet off the carcass, because I don’t want blood and guts on my table any longer than absolutely necessary, if I just knock those two fillets off, throw the carcass rinse the board, then I can skin the fillet with the knife, and I’m not dripping blood and guts everywhere on the board. I’m fast either way it doesn’t matter I guess… Just don’t prefer it
Yes, I can see your equally as effective either way. Lots of fish to practice with. Looks like you definitely fillet enough fish to justify the purpose, AND using the Ozark Trail for a year. Whew!! Congrats!
I cut the meat off those ribs (regular fillet knife) after I cut them out only on crappie about 13” or bigger. I call em riblets and like them better than the fillets. It doesn’t seem worth the trouble but you’ll be surprised at how much it’ll make with 25 crappie. I fry them first and separate from the fillets because they fry up much faster. Don’t overcook them and they’re delicious.
Great video , I got one 6 months ago & love it . What do you do with the “ scraps “ when cleaning fish @ home ? You catch a limit on Sunday & trash pick up is on Thursday .... I fish for crappie & catfish , after cleaning 25 catfish there is no way IMO to bag them etc due to fins .
Dang it. Now I'm going to have to go out and get one but I don't know I'm really fond of the old Black & Decker electric fillet knife I scored the other day at a garage sale😋😋😋😁😁😁👍👍👍👍
I have an idea for a video an old man told me a long time ago when you go crappie fishing to bring a plate and Spoon when you catch a legal size fish you scrape the scales off and put them on the plate and every time you go to throw your line in the water you take a pinch full of scales and throw them in the water first he told me it's supposedly brings the bigger fish closer to the top to help weed out the little ones since you have livescope now maybe you can make a video on it and see if it works it was an idea thanks for the videos let me know your thoughts on the idea
Those are very nice ,but I'll stick with my black and decker electric knife 11$ had it for 2yrs no problems. If it croaks I've already gotten my moneys worth.. 😬
Absolutely, I’ve been using that Ozark Trail for about a year because it was cheap and I didn’t wanna spend the money… It got by and I’ve caught lots of fish… I just decided to pull the trigger. It’s mixed emotions! Love the knife missed the money
Hey don't forget all those crappie carcasses make great catfish bait I don't know if the proper word is recycle or upcycle but don't let those crappie bodies go to waste those big cats tend like them great video maybe I'll see you catching the cats on next video
Great video! Thanks for sharing.

I use my standard Bubba Blade along side of the battery powered one. Covers all my needs. Thank you for the time you took to watch my video!! 🙂
I just can believe it, I had this knife delivered to my home yesterday.
It’s cool to see your video recommending it the next day.

We fried up about 20 filets and freeze the rest.

It’s illegal to use a game fish for bait in Texas.
@@BarFlyFishingTexas what I meant by bait is more of returning the carcasses back to the lake and chumming and area for catfish
Nice knife. I jusr bought one of those from Amazon for $110
So did my buddy, turned out it was a Chinese knock off…
@@BarFlyFishingTexas LoL awe I'm your Buddy???😋...Verdict is still out on this...May have been the battery was not sufficient 🤦♂️🤷♂️
I just threw away all my fillet knives. Im going to try bubba out.
I bought it from Amazon it’s 139.99
Good to know!! Not cheap at Academy
Watch bubba website, they run specials! Got mine last winter 112$ free shipping
Handle way too big, Rapala R12 is the way to go!
Why not flip the meat seems like a major waste of time not to..
