I stumbled upon Koo in 98 my first time to Africa. I was 24. Studied with him and his drummers. Lived with his family in between my travels. Back again in 2002
Helped him get a job at the UW in Seattle in 2004
I was very involved in West Africa drum and dance in Bellingham WA. Went to a dance class with a teacher i met in Seattle Etienne Cakpo. He asked me my background of drum and dance. I said well it started with Koo. He grabs me and says no way! His son Yaw aka Eugene is parking the car. 20 years later reunited. I didn't dance i drummed! Still in contact with them both, and will see Eugene Dec 2021in Seattle. So much love and respect!

And wtf is a mask gonna do? Get him sick? Stop believing this covid BS. This legend has survived more hardships then you will ever know. 90 years young and still would kick yer ass.
The grace that has brought him this far is stronger than whatever reason you want him to wear mask, there's no protection in the mask, thousands wore mask yet they are no more!

Thanks for this interview with the Legend, Agya Koo Nimo, a man I read about in Cultural Studies Book 3 at JSS. I've learnt a lot from this interview: sugar and salt are poisonous to the old man, "Fame is a vapour, popularity is an accident, riches take wings, only one thing endures; CHARACTER", etc.
