To be fair, there was a period in there where Everton were in deep doo-doo but stayed up. 93/94 and then several times between 96/97 and 03/04. Then again, if you were reasonable at whatever game, you could turn them around because they generated a decent amount of cash.

I saw one Everton fan saying about Bill Kenwright, “Imagine someone wants to sell you their car and then says ‘hold on mate, I want to keep the logbook’”. That club has stagnated over years, and the downfall has now come for them. Hopefully for them, they can avoid the drop but, if they do get relegated, the owners would surely have to sell up

Everton are run terribly but they are not the worst run team in the country
Birmingham City ex owner is in jail, their current owners hardly communicate with the fans, received several points deductions, constant relegation battles in the Championship and some parts of the stadium are not safe to use.
Scunthorpe have gone from a Championship club to bottom 4 of the 5th tier (National league)
Southend gone from League 1 to National League
Crawley owners get their money through NFTs, having to deny rumours about players and staff, on their 3rd manager of the season, Matthew Etherington their former manager left after a couple of games, they are just above the relegation zone in league 2.

Arsenal went from Wenger to Emery lol completely different managers then went full circle back in terms of playing style to Arteta, clubs can't always pick a certain type of manager especially mid season - other factors are how big of a club are they, what type of situation they're in that needs addressing, how big of a job is it
The nostalgic Everton with Pienaar, Arteta, Cahill etc are the ones we all as PL fans miss, it's actually sad seeing them spiral like this, maybe it'd be a good thing for them to get relegated so they can clear out deadwood, hopefully be sold and start from scratch, sometimes teams need that fresh start just look at Fulham this season as an example, couldn't stay up more than two seasons in the Prem, went down, managed to keep a majority of their squad, built a rapport and a bond then came back stronger than ever
