So happy to hear you are applying to graduate school to become a speech-language pathologist ! I believe with a 3.6 you do have a chance of getting accepted into a master's program. I was wait listed at two schools, then eventually both schools offered me an acceptance letter. My greatest piece of advice for you is to apply to as many schools as possible. Hi ! Congratulations for making it to your four year of the CSD program . That’s definitely a huge accomplishment . Each school has different requirements for their program . I was accepted into graduate school and I also had a 3.8 GPA . I definitely do think you have a fair chance of being accepted . Apply to as many schools as possible . That is a great question Vernon; however, I do not have the answer .
question: Aren't travel SLP jobs for about 18 weeks at a time? How did you keep 2 PRN jobs while away?
Most travel positions are 13 weeks long . However you can find some travel positions that are shorter or longer . My travel position required me to work 4 ten hour days . So I worked Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. My off days were Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday . So I would usually work my PRN jobs on Saturdays and Sundays .
Welp, newbie here. I am only in my second semester in school. I have many years left smh
Congratulations for being in your second semester ! You got this girl ! It’s worth it all in the end ! I promise !
Was 6 figures a month or year?I'm a speech language pathologist.which country is This
It was six figures a year !
I’m in the USA !
What about insurance? Have you had difficulty getting insurance as a full time employee?
Luckily, my PRN job only provides medical insurance . I have to pay for dental work out of pocket though . And I don’t need vision .
I am really old, 44 years old specifically. Is that too old to go back to school and get a SLP degree?
You are never too old to go after your dreams ! Do it !
One of my good SLP friends obtained her SLP degree in her 50s !
My god friend graduated w her MS in Speech pathology at 49 yr

Hey, I'm from India and done with my Master's degree in SLP,

I want to work in US.. Plz do suggest
Hey ! Congratulations for completing your Master’s degree ! Definitely a huge accomplishment !
My best advice would be to contact the American Speech-Language Association to get clarification on the necessary next steps to work as a SLP in the USA.
I have included the link below !

Please keep me posted on what they share with you !
Good luck !
@@TSlater_ Thank you, I will update you with the same
hey! thanks for the video. i am applying to colleges, interested in speech language pathology right now. i love helping people and the variety in settings however science was definitely not my strong point in high school. is it still possible to do well and enjoy school with the heavy science content? thanks!!
Absolutely ! Your passion for science will grow because it will allow you to better serve your future patients !
GOOD LUCK !
Hi I’m in my fourth year of getting my Bachelor’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
I really am worried about graduate school! What GPA do they want and what extracurriculars and work experience? My cumulative GPA right now is 3.8 and I could try to improve it but do you think I have a chance with the GPA I have now?
I was wait listed for all the programs I applied to, then I was finally offered an acceptance into two of them ! Good luck ! Keep me posted ! I’m rooting for you !
That’s awesome. Thanks for letting me know! I’ll keep you updated. By the way, I’m a new sub. 😊

If you're comfortable sharing, what area in the US did you make 6-figures?
I live in Georgia !
I'm a certified teacher in Nigeria
I want to change my career to speech pathology
Please can you recommend an online program I can do
Thank you
Hi ! Here is a website that has a list of online SLP programs ! Let me know which one(s) you decide to apply to. speechpathologymastersprograms.com/
Where did you study?? and how long did it take.
I obtained my master’s degree in Georgia. It took two years to complete my master’s degree!
I only have an AA, sped cert, & trying to find an undergraduate program that would be relevant to SLP. I’m currently an RBT, was going for teaching, but not for me. I’m worried about my gpa currently from cc, so I also need to bring my grades up through my future bachelor program and then try to apply for communication disorder/slp graduate program. Im so far away, it’s my dream job but just stressing about the obstacles.
Uh Manoa in Hawaii is pretty hard to get into for grad school. Do you think an online masters degree would be of worth?
Hi Marissa ! So happy to hear about your desire to become a speech-language pathologist ! You can do it !
An online communication science and disorders program is perfect ! There are quite a few of universities that offer the program . I included the link below . find.asha.org/ed/#sort=relevancy
Thank you so much! You’re awesome!
@@marissamontalbo1996 you’re more than welcome ! Rooting for you !
Hay quá
If you don’t mind sharing, how much did you make a month on average?
On average, I made ~$8,500 a month
I am currently 2nd year undergrad what will be an average worth after 4 year undergraduate degree?
So how many hours a week were you working?
I worked 40 hours full time a week ! And then I worked between 10 - 20 hours PRN a week !
Mentor me please!!! I want to be a better SLP.
Absolutely ! And you will be !
@@TSlater_ Thank you this would be awesome!
What is a prn
PRN means “as needed.” So you basically get to pick when you want to work which is so nice !
Where are you located
I work in Georgia !
I'm in Georgia also. I graduate with my MS next month!!!
I’m an anthropology culture major, do you think I can get accepted to graduate programs?
Absolutely ! My undergraduate degree is in broadcast journalism which is not related to SLP at all . However, some programs only require students to take leveling courses while in the graduate program or before starting the graduate program .
cla.auburn.edu/communicationdisorders/speech-language-pathology/future-students/
Here’s an example ! Read the section labeled “coursework requirements for those without a degree in CSD”
Please I did certificate in healthcare, am I qualified as a speech psychologist? Thanks for sharing
What state are you in?
Hi girl! What travel company did you sign with ? What were the pros/cons of becoming a travel SLP? I’m trying to figure out what setting/company to go with…
Hey ! I used Stepping Stones group ! The pros is definitely the pay ! However the huge con is a facility may not have the expected workload for you and there’s a possibility they can call you off (then you won’t get paid) or cancel the contract at anytime 🥴 But you can always try to negotiate your contract .
@@TSlater_Okay perfect! Thank you so much, I start my CFY in August and I am trying to find out the best company for me. I love your videos, you are so helpful!
@@lexmartinez4291 You are going to impact a lot of lives ! You got this !
thank you for your video!! this was so informative!! I am in the process of applying to grad school! where did you go to grad school and how was your experience in that program? 🤍
Congratulations for starting the process of applying to graduate school ! I went to Armstrong State in Savannah, GA . I absolutely loved it . I had 19 other women in my cohort . The department’s staff was extremely knowledgeable with a ton of experience !
This is so encouraging, so glad I came across this video! Thanks for this🫶🏾
You’re more than welcome ! Let me know if you have any questions girly !
