When the Hornsent discovered his research, and the nature of the Frenzy Flame and its power to destroy spirits, they sent the inquisition to eradicate them. Midra was executed by that sword, but as we can see he was too strong and could not die. Despite being in absolute agony he refused to give into the flame, and has been confined to his manor ever since. Or, more likely the intended impression, someone relieved of the burden of sanity now finding it in them to revel in the absurd and feeling weightless. Love this dude.
For the lord of frenzied flames, his movements are quite elegant, you would expect the highest degree of madness from him, like crazy unconventional movements that are pretty much impossible to dodge but I guess he was so crazy that he went back to serene 😂
It's not him anymore, it's the Frenzied Flame. It doesn't seem to be "crazy", in the human sense of the word, it's an ancient god that wants everything to return to the way things were before existence, life, souls, matter, etc. It's also quite clear in having this goal, it seems, so it not acting wild and crazy makes sense.
@@coconuts5792 If you have been playing this game for a while, you should already know that bosses deal higher damage when using their own weapons or spells / incantations.

I find it interesting that outside of the manor you see a bunch of headless corpses impaled with the same thing as midra. Implying that he was just one of many failed lord of frenzy.
They were all executed for studying the frenzied flame. The Hornsend put those spikes in them to suppress the flame. That is why Midra has that big barb in him and that is also the reason why it has holy damage and doesn't cause frenzy build up or fire damage when the player wields it. The sword Midra wields has nothing to do with the frenzied flame, it is a holy tool used to suppress his madness. Because of that, he has to suffer eternally to keep the "boss" we fight away.

I'm convinced that Marika is the primary source of Madness in the lands between. As we know, Madness manifests with tremendous rage, loss, pain, and sorrow. And We've also learned that everything Marika has done is essentially one huge emotional response to her own own trauma.
One thing I've noticed in these Malenia fights is that she's not really that strong, but she will *ALWAYS* win due to the fact that she can heal This healing ability isn't really shown against the player cause she can literally hit us twice and we're dead, but against opponent's with a large health pool, it really shines and pushes her further

They burned everything around him leaving him to mourne. 4. His wife nanaya asked him to keep living for them all. 5. He goes against this because of the tarnished ultimately succumbing to the lord of frienzied flame. Speculation 1. He is the first inheritor of the frienzied flame 2. He was the first to burn the erdtree. And yeah thats all I got. Pretty interesting character. Hope to know more about him.
he was not the first frienzied flame inheritor since we can find the torch of nanaya on a corpse not far away from the boss and it has this discription "A torch made by attaching a dying flame of frenzy to a small spinal column. In a distant land, in an age long past, was born a man who failed to become the Lord of Frenzied Flame. All that remains of him is cradled gently by Nanaya" so yeah there was another that was the inheritor of the frenzied flame prior somewhere far away.
@@sirsunman7826I think Midra almost became the lord of Frenzy, but failed. He was executed by the Hornsent inquisitors for this, but the apotheosis attempt left him immortal. She then told Midra to endure, possibly to keep him suffering so his next apotheosis ritual would be successful, which it then is.

If we explode it with the frenzy flame, he dont give a shit, if ranni make it anew, if dont care... all that matter to him is that the law of Lord and Gods is followed, and that there is a form of order. (even chaos is a form of order for him, the order of things).
the greater will is not the god of the golden order, is just a god of how law must bi abided. the goddess of the golden order was Marika. and i thinks the erdtree are portal, or antenna for other outer god and the greater will to pass on their will.
good luck for all that.

What did Midra do to deserve to suffer like this?
Being impaled by the GREATSWORD OF DAMNATION must be tense 😅
The sword is anchoring his head on so he doesn't become frenzyman
I really want to know the lore behind him
He's simping for some lady named Nanaya
@@amirrezahidari5244 someone summarized it pretty well under a different video;
Nanaya was connected to the Three Fingers and tried to raise a Lord of Frenzied flame, but they were too weak to absorb the Three Fingers, only their spine survived.
She seems to have lead a group of scholars lead by Midra towards studying the flame in another attempt, and unlike most, he was able to retain his sense of self after he was infected as well as absorb a much higher dose of the Frenzy Flame than most.
The player pushes him past the breaking point after suffering so long, and her gives up holding the flame back.
As he did not absorb the Three Fingers he is not as powerful as we are in the LoFF ending, but he was closer than anyone to ascending, so he gains a partial transformation.
@@Houseoholikermakes you question the nature of the frenzied flamed… what is it? Did the three fingers create it? Did Marika? How long has it existed in the world?
The way he moves, so graceful as to appear weightless, is so interesting to watch. Like someone who goes so far into rage that they circle back around to being tranquil. Or, more likely the intended impression, someone relieved of the burden of sanity now finding it in them to revel in the absurd and feeling weightless. Love this dude.
Midra's body looking like a puppet and the center of mass is the Giant Bulb of Fire
I just LOVE the slow walk he does
It pretty much shows his dominance and bad-assery of being a Lord of Frenzied Flame
Margit: like 10% health left
Also Margit: Well, thou art of passing skill.
Damn, only Malenia was able to defeat Midra. It's also good to know that Midra is not immune to Scarlet Rot.
....
Yes he is not immune but scarlet rot dont make this fucking big damage.
@@coconuts5792 If you have been playing this game for a while, you should already know that bosses deal higher damage when using their own weapons or spells / incantations.
@@coconuts5792 so there are different tick values on all sources of scarlet rot, for example the dragon breath scarlet rot deals 20% more damage than the scarlet rot applied by the ash of war the dlc added, similarly the tick damage of scarlet rot applied by the swamp in caelid is significantly less than what is applied by the lake of rot, and Malenia's scarlet rot is by far the strongest. in all cases, the tick damage is % based.
i think if it was run again, maliketh and mohg both had good chances of defeating him too
I find it interesting that outside of the manor you see a bunch of headless corpses impaled with the same thing as midra. Implying that he was just one of many failed lord of frenzy.
I believe, it is more so that he happened to be marked, but resisted. They just came to wipe them all out because they had a marked one among them.
Those were Midra's late staff/followers, executed as part of the inquisitions purge. My going theory is that these executed followers are the origins of the Aging Untouchables that roam the abyssal woods. Their number doesn't quite match up, though.
@@INMGrunge The Greatsword of Damnation is made from unalloyed gold, the same stuff which Miquella made his needles from to help Malenia. Unalloyed gold seems to suppress the influence of Outer Gods, so of course that would also mean whatever Outer God is behind the Flame of Frenzy.
The ones executed outside are just followers of Midra, not failed Lords. Midra tried to become the Lord of Frenzied Flame but failed until we came along and pushed him over the edge.

One thing I've noticed in these Malenia fights is that she's not really that strong, but she will *ALWAYS* win due to the fact that she can heal
This healing ability isn't really shown against the player cause she can literally hit us twice and we're dead, but against opponent's with a large health pool, it really shines and pushes her further
And also victim of Miquella as well. Even Strongest, She also get Hypnotized.
Yeah, she basically gets twice the health because of it, like the two phases weren't giving her a lot of that.

@@vincetiusbennikhagatraperk4622 I doubt she was under Miquellas spell, Malenias love for him was genuine, Miquella also loved Malenia greatly, going as far as to cast away the Golden order just for her

Truly the depths of his foolishness
Ok so here are so things we know for sure. And things that are just speculation about Midra.
Things we know
1. He was claimed by the three fingers but not on his own as he didnt want to be the inheritor.
2. The Horsent impaled him. (I think thats why there is a sword in his head idk bout that)
3. They burned everything around him leaving him to mourne.
4. His wife nanaya asked him to keep living for them all.
5. He goes against this because of the tarnished ultimately succumbing to the lord of frienzied flame.
Speculation
1. He is the first inheritor of the frienzied flame
2. He was the first to burn the erdtree.
And yeah thats all I got. Pretty interesting character. Hope to know more about him.
he was not the first frienzied flame inheritor since we can find the torch of nanaya on a corpse not far away from the boss and it has this discription
"A torch made by attaching a dying flame of frenzy to a small spinal column. In a distant land, in an age long past, was born a man who failed to become the Lord of Frenzied Flame. All that remains of him is cradled gently by Nanaya"
so yeah there was another that was the inheritor of the frenzied flame prior somewhere far away.
@@sirsunman7826I think Midra almost became the lord of Frenzy, but failed. He was executed by the Hornsent inquisitors for this, but the apotheosis attempt left him immortal. Nanaya kept the few embers of his attempt and attached it to his spinal cord.
She then told Midra to endure, possibly to keep him suffering so his next apotheosis ritual would be successful, which it then is.

im sure you figured that out many months ago and not literally just 12 hours ago. Are you storytelling/socializing?
@@paris5831 The more important factor is that because the DLC has the whole Scadutree Fragment system, they had to make DLC bosses' scaling way higher than those in the base game. We are fortunate enough to get a considerable buff in the DLC, these poor bosses don't.

There are boss vs boss videos where she literally won because she did the nuke back to back, at the start and 3 seconds later 😂
