So, instead of filming it and chucking it straight into the archives... Hows about we distribute it to arthouse cinemas in distant lands like the National Theatre in London does? Saw an AMAZING showing of War Horse (filmed on stage) on the big screen, and if I can't get to Broadway it's 100% the next best thing.
Great comment. I saw "War Horse" too, here in CT. You get almost the same exact feeling of seeing it live on stage. Just saw "Skylight" not too long ago as well and "Streetcar," all London productions. They should do more of this - there is a definite audience for it and it's untapped.
I think I've read it was recorded - but only for the theatre company's archives. I've seen the Dutch edition of 'Constellations' myself, just to see what it was like - but I would've preffered to see Jake and Ruth.
Coming to NYC end of April to see Wolf Hall....VERY much hope this extends (even just a little) so I can see it as well. Two great stars, and premise sounds intriguing...
Can't i find this play online? Because, not only am i late but even if i were on time i wouldnt have been able to see it cause i dont live in the states, nor have i ever been there, sadly. However, i admire jake gyllenhaal so very much and i deeply wish to see this play, it sounds amazing and just different! Could someone please tell me where to find it online?
Olga I am too, but the univers had brought it to me apparently because I just watched a local production of this play performed by two very gifted actors and it was mesmerizing, I was with them all the way through and the waves of emotions under the surface just gets under your skin. I'm not surprised by how beautifuly and ACCURATELY Jake describes the play because he is Jake, but I am just blown away by how strongly I, as an audience felt it too. I'm very glad I went to see it, it really inspired me allot. And these days, I need inspiration like I need oxygen. In our production the couple is biracial, by the way. Mary is played by a beautiful Ethiopian woman and it's actually very refreshing to watch.

Agreed. It's happening more and more, and it's a great idea.

Yay. More of my uncle
Ruth Wilson reminds me of the German goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer.
