  • The Cayman 718 is a mid-engine sports car from Porsche. The GT4 take performance to an all new level. On the outside you will discover 20in wheels, massive 6-piston brake calipers and functional aero. On the inside there is race-tex located throughout, carbon bucket seats and sport chronograph. Powering the GT4 is a 4.0L flat-6 churning out 414HP & mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Is the Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 the BEST sports car ever built?

    Nice review to learn a lot about the intricacies of this car. Porsche has so many variations of different models these days it is hard to keep up. I think the main purpose of that one is fun to drive. It succeeds. Love the actual instrument gauge cluster instead of the 14 inch TV screen. If this is what I wanted I would get a new one now while you can. It is sure comforting to know that the planet will be saved by Porsche going electric. Guess the youngsters might as well go back to playing their GT video games now.

      Agreed, the gearing is not a problem at all in the real world. On the road the taller gearing means the car is very flexible without needing to constantly red-line it, which is tiresome, and on track, you can wring out every gear easily and be incredibly rapid.

    I let my son drive my GT4 the other day. Has been asking for some time, and I wanted to make certain he was adept enough on a manual. He rowed through the gears like a champ, screamed like a giddy school girl, and still is talking about the drive! Those thinking there are allocations left are out of luck. The switch over to 2024 is beginning and the only GT4s remaining are those with builds already locked in. The epitome of perfect lines and form, and a true 911 killer!

    This 718 GT4 in a manual is the car for me I was just put off a little by the tall gearing. I am legitimately saddened it is going away. Just got back from driving around town in my Type R and NOTHING beats the driving engagement you get in a nice 6-speed manual. My wife and I have been looking for a good RWD 6-speed manual sports car and the 718 GT4 fits the bill. I suspect the price of these GT4s with manuals will skyrocket in the aftermarket. If that is the case it all just makes it easier for me to choose the Lotus Emira in a manual which is not a bad consolation prize at all. Again well done team Raiti! Again folks, if you like any of these cars with manuals find a way to get one more sooner than later.

    • @christianr772
      @christianr772 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve been on the list for the Emira for a year and a half. The comms from Lotus is pathetic and the rollout of the new car has been a flop. I’m still holding out, but the fact that they still have not cleared US regulations and are trying to “figure out” how to shoehorn the AMG engine as a mid engine…..I might pass. Already got on the list for other options but this will be in addition to the GT4 that I already have.

    • @vagabond1776
      @vagabond1776 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@christianr772I’m not concerned. The rest of the world had been enjoying their Emira’s….we’ll get ours sooner than later. Lotus already has the 4banger running around but with no manual option I’m not even concerned. LOVE the look of the Spyder RS but same deal with no manual option.

    • @malcolmar
      @malcolmar ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@christianr772 Congrats! I have not even begun to jump into the craziness of trying to secure an allocation for an Emira. The engine option that I want is the bulletproof Toyota-based super charged V6. Big congrats on getting that GT4. Wow. I might just end up looking for a pre-owned since it does not look like there is much mechanicacally different with the later models. I also am looking at the new Acura Integra Type S. That looks like a seriously fun family hauler. Another car that really got my attention is the C7 Corvette Grand Sport with a manual. Those things are really holding their value at MSRP or above. It is eaither feast or famine and I know if I don't start getting these cars into my garauge, things are going to dry up preally fast. Enjoy your GT4 and good luck on your Emira.

    Just got a '24 718 Cayman S. Went from daily driving a '04 Audi S4 and '07 RS4 never thinking I'd go for a 4-cylinder as I've been spoiled since buying both of those Audi naturally aspirated V8's new. The Cayman S changed my mind. The handling is superb and the fact it does accelerate so forcefully with only four cylinders baffles my mind. The overall balanced engineering of these cars is so mature and well done I think your video title is anything but clickbait. Enjoyed getting to know the GT4 flavor because it's a true supercar that is sadly going away.
