I just have to thank you so much for you demonstrating how to make this blind. I have searched for 2 years trying to understand how to make it. Your instructions were so simple and uncomplicated!!!!! Again, I appreciated so much you taking the time to create and showing these steps!
+Marcia Graddy Thank you so much for your kind words. It is so great to know our efforts are helping others. I would love to see your finished project!
Hola everybody! In the bottom right hand corner of the video you have a little wheel, the settings. Choose the option ''Speed'' and change it to your needs. I saw the video in 0.25 on the parts where I wanted to see details. Just mute the music cause it's gonna drive you nuts haha! And thanks Handyverse + kitty for your amazing tutorial!!!!

I'll have to watch again. I was surprised when the text mentioned sleeves, as I don't remember your mentioning that [step] before beginning. I was also surprised the you turned it inside out. Beautiful shade. Well done.
+Kathy L I think you are correct. I don't mention this at the beginning. My apologies if it caused and confusion. I think the sleeves around the rods are great because it creates a cleaner look from outside. Don't forget about those neighbours. Would love to see your finished product. Thanks for watching!
I found some great fabric at our local thrift store for practically nothing a couple of weeks before the Covid 19 lockdown. One of my projects is to a make shade. I haven’t made one in a few years. I really like your version. It turned out just beautiful! Thank you for the video.
First time I’ve seen this done with dowel pockets on the inside so much nicer but what happens when you want to clean you blinds? Looks beautiful though
Thank you so much for posting this video! It was hard to see the plastic rings. Are they the one inch plastic rings? Are they sewn to the outside of the shade, on the edge, or on the back? Checked that part twice, but was going to fast for me to catch that part.
They are half inch rings and are only tacked on by hand to the back or "outside" of the blind. They are simply guides for the pull string to pass through. I hope that helps. If you have any more questions, just let us know.
Question for clarfication. After one puts the lining on the fabric and sews the edges the next step is to fold the edge (good fabric on itself). Does the entire side get stitched again after pinning? Is it over the firs stitching? Is the seam a half inch? I understand all the rest of the video except this step and have pulled out stitching twice. I am talking about the step after sewing the lining and fabric together so that it wraps around. Thank you.
Hi Tracey. So sorry we didnt get to your comment sooner. How are you making out? I see in the video where this is a bit unclear. You sew the horizontal side (shorter side) in 1/2 inch to close one end of your blind not the length side. You only sew that side the one time and it sound like you already did that step. Let us know if you are still stuck at handyverse@gmail.com. Send a pic. Good luck!
Impressive!!! A gal who knows how to measure things! :D Been looking thru vids showing how to do what you just did...well...2 years ago..lol... for the past 45 minutes and yours is THEE BEST as far as how the finished product looks , so I want to give you a big THANK YOU for this video! Your shade turned out beautiful. The LAST thing I want to do is put one of these together with hot glue! LMAO o_O UGH, it's soooo OVER RATED. I'm looking forward to getting started on mine!! So once again, thank YOU so much for your great instructions and especially your finesse and attention to detail. And please..... use that pin cushion to secure those pins with kitty around!! :( And don't forget that cats and kids have strangled themselves, sadly, on those cords that are tied together at the end, so be sure to wrap it up nice and secure around that cleat and don't let any hang down. . Sorry..I just had to give you some of my Motherly advice. My cats are my babies..gotta watch em every minute!! Ok, enough babbling. Thanks again!!
Thank you for your kind words. It is a great reminder on the cords for sure. Thankfully, our kitty is not a great jumper and gets no where near the blinds. Have you started on your blind? We would love to see the finished product. Send a pic to handyverse@gmail.com
@@Handyverse Oh...it might take me a while, but I will send pic when I finish. Things LOOK easy but when I get down to it, it's like climbing Mt Everest to me!! 😣 Thanks again. 😉
Your video has helped me more than the major craft companies out there. My windows are wider.....32". Would 3 rings across be better ? Also....you say to sew the rings at the dowels......on-under-on top.....or doesn't it matter ?
I think its smart that you made it Velcro because most people put it on the board with staple gun but how will they wash it? I think I am doing it your way. Thanks for the inspo.
Hi, could you do a video showing the layout of your workstation, cutting, ironing area as well as sewing area. Pls could you do a video on how to manage same in a tiny bedroom, with fold out table ideas for those of us who don't have access to Ikea or good hardware stores with many prefabricated options.
Hi, we could but really we don't have a sewing area set up. We actually just use our office desk, our dining room table, or our fold out table to do our work. Sounds similar to what you're trying to do.
I sent away and got Ikea adjustable legs and attached to a door cut to width so legs can straddle bed. The legs screw on and off so can be dismantled when not in use. Works great.

Wow, making blinds for 14 windows would certainly be a lot of work. We only have 3 of ours with roman blinds, some store bought blinds and others are traditional curtains. You could always try one and see what you think. :)

Thanks! That's an interesting idea; we'd be interested in seeing what you come up with. Without a cord, you'd obviously have to lift the individual sections up until they latched in place but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Let us know how it goes!
