today I have a very special video that was requested by one of my lovely viewers. In this video I will give you all of my tips on how to be a good host family to an exchange student. I have comprised a list of tips for host families coming from the perspective of a former exchange student.
I hop you enjoy and can take away some advice on how to make your exchange student feel most at home.

I wish my family had at least ask their daughters if they were okay with hosting me… they didn’t. Making the whole tougher.
I prefer starting host tourists come to Tanzania ( Zanzibar ) sometime next year .

@@honey27003 Is there anything you wish your host family did differently or would have done? Did you have any big culture barrier when it came to living in a different country? At the end of the day my goal is to make sure they're safe and comfortable while also allowing her to have the freedoms to have a fun exchange. ❤

More good content...... Good tips. One thing I'm l kind of shocked about is that your host family did not greet you at the airport. It would have taken a lot for us to have not greeted our student at the airport.
Yea that didn't make for the best start. But they decided to host me very last minute so they probably weren't able to re-schedule their plans for that day.

I need to work in host family
I‘m going to live with a single host mom without children and with another exchange student. Do you think I‘m missing out on a lot because I don‘t have hostsiblings? Like „real“ ones
No, I think that host families come in all shapes and sizes. I had host siblings and we get along now but we didn't get along when I was an exchange student so just because you have host siblings doesn't mean that you're gonna have a good relationship with them. A friend of mine had a similar situation where she was placed with another exchange student and it actually turned out really well. That other exchange student will be in the same situation as you which will help you out because you will have someone to talk to about everything. And you get the opportunity to form and amazing friendship there. From personal experience I would say just be very open minded and just go there and see how it turns out because you can never predict how these things will turn out anyway. I am sure you will have a great time :)
Hello! We’ll be hosting next school year. When going to the store to get hygiene products, phone, etc. who generally pays for these things - student or host family?
Very good question! First of all, congrats on becoming a host family, that's awesome! Every family handles finances differently so I might make a separate video about that soon. In my case, I payed for everything that I used exclusively. That includes hygiene products, clothing, going to the movies with friends etc. Everything that was shared by the whole family, my host family would pay for me. That includes groceries, detergent, meals we would all have together at a restaurant. In the end, it is up to you to discuss it with your exchange student, though. I just think that groceries for example is much easier to just buy all together unless they have really really specific dietary requirements. From listening to your videos they sounded quite interesting and we're hoping though we get accepted on so that we can bring in foreign exchange students into our home but is it okay to call them for an exchange daughter of ours if they ever came in our home? We just never had any children of our own and we figured this is a good opportunity to feel the opportunity of them sharing their stories about their culture and US telling them about our background of our ancestry of where we came from which could kind of connect.

@@nanditshabalala7113 Generally speaking I would try to make references to her country, language and culture. Maybe have an evening where you cook an Italian meal together or get her a little sign in Italian writing or learn a few phrases or get her snacks, take her to an authentic Italian place. It will show that you appreciate her culture and are thoughtful

At which age I can do an exchange? First at high school or can I do it in middle school age too? Bc some friends of me who have French could have done it whit out corona in 7th grade and I can do in 9th grade, cause I'm going to have French too.
Hi,
it depends on your country's school system. In Germany, you usually do your exchange after grade 9 or 10 or after your studies. You can discuss with your teachers or headmaster. They will be able to advise you on the best time to go
@@honey27003 OK thank you, cause we can do an exchange in France, when I've got French the second year, but I would it only use to try in France for 3 weeks or smth like this. Second years are: 7th grade or 9th grade I would have in 9th grade...

How did I manage my whole Stay with my French Exchange-Student, WITHOUT caring about any "Phone Contracts" at all ? 8-/ Huh ? (SIGH) ... If you listen to the 'Youth of today' , you start to wonder, HOW People survived BEFORE all this mobile & digital Madness for thousands and thousands of Years. 8-/
They could try to set up their phone contracts so that they’re able to call and text their family back home.. I’m sure if I was an exchange student I’d want all my phone stuff figured out asap so that I could update my family in case anything goes wrong..
@@lesleymarie6499 The Case, THAT something seriously goes wrong, is surely already at Hand, when People expect to be available EVERYTIME & EVERYWHERE ! 8-o This only leaves me with the Fear, that anything I do (especially by HAND) isn´t appreciated by my Fellow-Men & -Women anymore...it´s not WORTHY anymore...in THEIR blinded Minds. 8-(
