So I built this Revell Hurricane MK.1 out of the Box and got a good enough job on it.. Interesting Fit and I enjoyed building this Hurricane.
Revell tooled this version in 1962 so makes it a Vintage Scale Model Kit. A lot of the Revell Hurricanes were from this tooling until 1998. The Revell Hurricane 1/72 scale model kit does show its age but like all kits of this age, with a little bit more work you can have a nice looking model kit.

I used Humbrol Primer and Matt Varnish,
Hataka Paints for the camo and interior
Micro Set and Sol for the Decals
Plus Humbrol Precision Poly Cement and Tamiya Extra Thin Cement

Cool to see an old kit built. As for the challenge. Hmm I might have to take that up! I've got a few old Matchbox kits in the stash and I think an old Revell kit too.

Came up well - a bit of weathering, chips and panel lines perhaps? Like these old kits - bit of a challenge sometimes but think building them after so many years brings them to life. Model on.
I did go over some of the rivets with a wash but wanted a dirt look. Oil stains on the tanks etc.. happy with it myself and now on display at the local library. Tempest on the bench now as it’s one I’ve been waiting on to build
It’s a Hurricane - good job! I love old kits and am about to start a Novo (ex FROG) Kittyhawk. I’ve said here before I love older kits and as I always paint over the canopies I couldn’t care less about the insides!

I watched this build with interest as I’m currently restoring a ‘previously loved’ Revell Hurricane (It’s what I do modelling-wise). My one is in chocolate brown plastic though. It’s great to see how well these older kits can be put together to get a decent result. Very well done!

Nice work on this old Revell classic. Built one back in the early 80s, but wasn't too impressed with it compared to the then newish Airfix Mk 1 Hurricane. Still, it went together ok just like your build. I still build loads of old kits, especially from Heller, Airfix and Matchbox. I actually enjoy the extra work old kits take sometimes, whether it be a bit of filler here and there or scratch building some new details. It's all part of the fun for me. I think I'm one of those "nostalgia" builders really, but it's also about subject. If it's a subject I want and the only game in town is an old kit, I'll build it.
I agree! I love old and wonky kits. Some of them are a bit overpriced though
That is a fair shout matey.. I enjoyed building it, the decals were a sadly starting to perish and the pilot was just litter.. but i enjoyed building it

Bought the 80th anniversary battle of britain set and it came with 2 really old ones (this exact same hurricane and a spitfire), a old one (a bomber stuka, which is quite alright and even can be displayed with the engine bay open) and a new one (ju-88, great detail for the scale and a f-ton of parts), I'll use your build as a reference, you did a great job with this one, congrats mate!

Currently doing a Revell Ta 152 (ex Frog kit from 1968) as a nostalgia build. Fun little build and a nice cheap canvas to practice some painting on.

There is some good info on Frantisek. You may be interested to know my Dad arrested him in Brighton during the war when he became very drunk in a pub after crash landing nearby. He said he was a very tough man.!! He and many other Europeans contributed so much. Have a pic of him outside Brighton police station on his release the next morning.

Good fun build Mos but I to have NEVER had any success with Humbrol clear Matt or gloss varnish.
i think i put it down a bit too thick in places
So when was this "special edition" issued? Decals and instructions are relatively current Revell-Germany issue, not from the '60s when the kit originally came out.

Mos !!! Did you ever make the Airfix 1/24 Hurricane ? I cannot see it in your older posts and no one seems to have posted a full build/paint on TH-cam. I have run out of excuses buying what accessories/paints I need to make it in the hope I would come across some tips just incase I mess it up. This is my 1st major model build in over 20yrs🥴.....

When that kit first came out, it cost 3 shillings which is 15p in today's money. I used to get half a crown a week pocket money which is 25p. So I had to wait two weeks to buy this kit. LOL
