  • will add a more in depth description while not typing on my phone. PAX East 2023 is the smallest I've seen it in the near decade I've been attending. It's disheartening to see the con die out like this.
    I did get about 5 VR games recorded today which will take forever to upload but they're coming.

    PAX East sold out the Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and four-day badges at pre-pandemic levels, so you might want to rethink your assumptions. There were a ton of exhibitors and vendors; a lot of people are happy that it's getting away from the over-hyped "big" exhibitor and Twitch streamer nonsense. As well, some of the big companies either have their own cons or are having lean years, neither of which properly reflects on PAX. It's also about more than video games and has been for years.

    I think your memory is cheating. Look at the PAX East 2022 map from last year or some photos. Tabletop was less, Intel was 1/4 of the expo hall - it has definitely improved this year. Cosplay was everywhere on Saturday. Which day(s) did you go?

      The tabletop area might have been a bit larger this year. The main floor definitely seemed better last year. More gaming companies, more games. The spectacle of Larian Studios Nautiloid ship, The Gearbox booth, The TinyBuild carnival... It was more PAX like. Then again I may be conflating the big name spectacle booths with a bigger PAX.
      I also did a walking the floor video from 2022 as well for comparison: th-cam.com/video/rVOpgaOMoEY/w-d-xo.html

    I am not sure if Sunday was the most busiest day of the weekend. I went to PAXEast for the first time last weekend and I really enjoyed it. It felt alive and packed with people and things to do. For the last day you’d think it would be less people but it seemed like I was barely able to move around.
    Sure, big name companies like PlayStation aren’t there. (PlayStation actually laid off all their state representatives and they’re the ones to be at the booths). We are currently seeing heavy indie gaming presence now and I think it’s awesome that people are trying their hand at creating the next best game. Let’s see what next year brings!

      Yeah Saturday and Sunday are the busiest days. I did not know that about Sony though.

    I've been going to Pax for 10 years, it's fine. Lots to do and play. it's always been about selling. Lots of the big names don't really need to go to any of these conventions anymore.

    • @MasterGamingVR
      @MasterGamingVR  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's fine. It's just not great like it used to be.

      @@MasterGamingVR not a convention out there that is. I don't really care if the big names don't show, I can always see what their up to. It's the indie developers I go to see.

      @4 Dogs Gaming and I go to see the VR titles. It's still nice to see the big guys here. The FF XIV raid challenge was something I really enjoyed. The Bethesda ESO launch party was a blast. The Predator after party is always fun. Seeing all the PSVR games from Sony. There was a long list of games I wanted to see that aren't here. The indie games are interesting but not enough keep the con running. They need the big names to sell tickets and pay for space. The convention center is less than half full from what it was in 2019 and 2020. I'd say 3/4 what it was last year. The trend downwards instead of up is concerning. If it continues, you won't have indie development here either.

      @@MasterGamingVR the economy is also alot different than last year. Not sure why you bother to go if you complain about it. Most people including myself don't seem to have a problem with it, it's sold out for Saturday..

      @4 Dogs Gaming and it used to sell out the same day tickets went up. I don't understand why negating my opinion is so important to you. We can have different opinions on things. It is, however, objective fact that it's smaller and lesser than previous years.
      You want to attack me rather than discuss, so I won't engage here after this. Have a great con.
