If it was a flash knockout, maybe a rematch would be warranted. Strickland dominated first to last bell. Izzy needs to take some time out. His attitude reminds me of Rose when she first lost the belt, pure relief. Let Strickland fight Du Plessis or the winner or Khamzat v Costa. Some new life in the division. Whenever Izzy comes back, a massive fight will be waiting for him. An immediate rematch after that performance sends the wrong message.

The only close example I can think of is Gaethje who had 2 title shots in 3 fights (not rematches) L - Khabib for the belt (who then retired), W - Chandler and then L - Oliveira for the belt. It's so obvious Dricus should get the next shot. He just KNOCKED OUT Robert Whitaker who's been at the top of the division for 6 years. If Dricus wins then I think Izzy - Dricus is the fight to make. If Strickland wins then maybe Izzy could get a shot at the title again. Even then, it's so obvious Khamzat would absolutely maul Izzy. Khamzat - Dricus would be an incredible fight.

Izzy’s offensive boxing is really bad he’s a counterstriking kicker so when Sean pressured him intelligently without overextending shutting down his kicks he had no way to adjust. I noticed Izzy’s mid boxing in the vettori rematch he was getting pressure and wasn’t able to land anything big with his hands which leads to him jabbing and leg kicking his way to a decision. Izzy’s best wins are when guys overextend into his range and he counters them that’s how he beat Alex, rob, and costa. Sean fought the perfect fight and shut Izzy down entirely he had 5 rounds to adjust and he was incapable.
At point does a champion Derserve an immediate rematch. I think whatever reasons Izzy had for a rematch were spent when he fought Poatan a second time. Against Strickland it was a first defense where he lost decisively.

I haven’t been a fan of MMA for that long, but I’ve yet to see a middleweight title fight without Izzy, and I kinda want to. Izzy’s fights can sometimes be extremely boring.

I’m not trying to disrespect Strickland, but you have to admit the level of talent is low at middleweight. Thank god the next title fight won’t have Adesanya, as even though I’ve been a UFC fan for the better part of 3 years I’ve yet to see one. Hopefully it will be competitive.

He got the instant rematch against Alex Pereira (which he deserved) for being a long time champion, this was a fresh title run and he lost convincingly as a -600 favourite in his first title defence and he's now 1-2 in his last 3. DDP deserves the shot and let Izzy have the opportunity to bounce back against 1 or 2 contenders to stake a legitimate claim. I want to see him fight the winner or Khamzat/Costa personally.

How many times have you said certain fighters don't deserve rematches because the fight wasn't close? This fight was as conclusive as it gets. If it was a flash knockout, maybe a rematch would be warranted. Strickland dominated first to last bell. Izzy needs to take some time out. His attitude reminds me of Rose when she first lost the belt, pure relief. Let Strickland fight Du Plessis or the winner or Khamzat v Costa. Some new life in the division. Whenever Izzy comes back, a massive fight will be waiting for him. An immediate rematch after that performance sends the wrong message.

Izzy shouldn't get a rematch. His last fight before Strickland was a title-shot rematch. NO ONE has ever had 2 title shot rematches in 3 fights. The only close example I can think of is Gaethje who had 2 title shots in 3 fights (not rematches) L - Khabib for the belt (who then retired), W - Chandler and then L - Oliveira for the belt.
It's so obvious Dricus should get the next shot. He just KNOCKED OUT Robert Whitaker who's been at the top of the division for 6 years. If Dricus wins then I think Izzy - Dricus is the fight to make. If Strickland wins then maybe Izzy could get a shot at the title again. Even then, it's so obvious Khamzat would absolutely maul Izzy. Khamzat - Dricus would be an incredible fight.

At the post fight press conference, I thought it was interesting Izzy said, “I had a different plan for this”. Whether he meant maybe he had a different gameplan in his mind to go out and take Sean’s head off or, he stuck true to the gameplan his coach, Eugene Bareman, gave to him. We may never know.

Izzy’s offensive boxing is really bad he’s a counterstriking kicker so when Sean pressured him intelligently without overextending shutting down his kicks he had no way to adjust. I noticed Izzy’s mid boxing in the vettori rematch he was getting pressure and wasn’t able to land anything big with his hands which leads to him jabbing and leg kicking his way to a decision. Izzy’s best wins are when guys overextend into his range and he counters them that’s how he beat Alex, rob, and costa. Sean fought the perfect fight and shut Izzy down entirely he had 5 rounds to adjust and he was incapable.
