I had a similar sort of controller issue, if this ends up being the controller. It was a Harmon Cardon and I forget the exact particulars, but with the headphone input sense and the front buttons on the same front module it was turning itself on and off. All the pull down (or ups) were good but the input voltages were funky on a few inputs with nothing connected to controller, except the pull up or down resistors, which all tested good. Ultimately it ended up being internal to the controller. But, the "fix" was to install a 5k, yes 5k resistor across the sense line for the headphone to stop that problem. With the headphone sense fully down it acted weird and with it pulled up with nothing inserted it acted weird. But 5k across and it leveled the voltage and stopped randomly turning on and off. I forget the exact particulars, but something along those lines. Ended up lasting at least 5 more years, haven't heard anything since. The more I think of it, I think the front panel buttons were an analog input with a range of voltages. The headphone was a digital input, but would effect the voltage on the analog input. Regulators were good, MCU had good voltages, grounds etc... anyway... Good luck, hopefully this one isn't another rabbit hole for you.

You mentioned a +6V missing, would that be the cause, or it's trigger by the processor? Just a thought. Great video as usual.

Really like your videos. I was wondering if you would be willing to repair a vintage HiFi receiver for me, paid engagement?

I would love to know the source of the schematics for these 80's receivers... I have a few sitting on shelves because I can't get a schematic for them...
