Great video! Both my brothers are lobstermen, one out of Benjamin River, one out of Stonington. It wasn't mentioned, but if you watch the captain's and Leroy's feet, they didn't move them much, kept them out of the way of the rope when the traps were reset. That's important to keep from being pulled overboard when the line goes out.

@@mccf Also-any good sternman/sternwoman will have extra bait bags filled up and ready to go. I used to race to see how many extra I could get filled between buoys so that I'd be quicker getting my part done when the traps came up.

My family had the chance to meet Leroy today at the Discovery Wharf in Stonington. What a treat to have him explain lobstering and fishing! We are now going to be faithful subscribers to the Ask Leroy videos.

Why do you need so much bait per trap? Wouldn't one fish be enough to get them to smell it. And also when they are eating the bait, do there claws rip the mess bag open when they try and eat?

Thank You Captain McDonald & Leroy , I sure enjoyed watching you two in action. I like the boat and the way the Captain runs it ,while dealing with the gear, you both are pros. Looks like one really has to be careful, not to get your feet tangled in the gear!

Who do I talk to about finding someone that can supply me with their entire catch every time they go out ?

You can head on down to the docks towards the end of the day when the boats are coming in.. Then see if you can woo some poor old ignorant lobsterman into selling his catch to you.. Good Luck with that!
