A lot of Super7 end up on clearance from $20 to $35. That’s more like it. Although I still passed on Alice at $25 because it looks cheap and nothing like the promo photos.
@@jpstevens938$20 for those Retro Reaction figures seems like too much for a figure that is barely resembling the character and not very movable. The art on the cards is awesome and I’d buy some to keep in the package and pinup on the wall but not for $20+ship on their site. They look like something Toy Biz would have sold long ago for $3-5. Thoughts?
Realistically, with Super 7 you're paying a premium for the fact that these need to be produced in limited quantity by a small company that can't leverage the economy of scale. The extent to which that is "worth it" is in the eye of the beholder.
A problem is that they're outdated. Mattel allowed them to finish the MOTU classics line and they kept that articulation scheme and ran with it. Even Mattel has moved on from that system and have an updated He-Man line.
@@victorvillacis6764 Mattel used to make He-Man and Thundercat figures with single joints and an ab crunch. They lend Super 7 the license for He-Man and then they acquired the Thundercats license to compete the line. They then used this style for other licenses they obtained.
I used to have dozens of Super 7 figures, all of their TMNT, Thundercats, and a few others. But I had so many issues with loose joints, bad paint, very limited articulation and at $55 and up, they just became not worth it. I sold everything and started collecting Newage Transformers as I always wanted to get back into Transformers. Holy cow, I was blown away how much better these 3rd party figures were than Super 7 and they are super complicated, near the same price, sometimes cheaper even. I just cannot go back which hurts as I love their toon GIJOE line, but after they forgot to paint the heads on Wave 2, then just said deal it, I was out. Shame as I love Silverhawks and Thundercats, but I cannot give them money anymore.
@jamievaughn I've also heard that their (super7) customer service policy is terrible. Basically would blame the buyer for any issues and defects, instead of them admitting any imperfections. Good riddance to them, I say.
Super7 QC is notoriously bad and they don't give a crap. With the 2nd Wave of their G.I. Joe Ultimates line, the faces weren't painted. Thus they didn't match the other waves...and didn't look great. Super7 admitted it was an error, but have made no move to replace the heads. They've already got your money, so they don't care.
That’s so strange. I wonder what changed. When the Panthro came out with the wrong color clothes, they sent everyone a free correction package with the correct color outfit, including a brand new head!! How can this be the same company?!?
@@mirrortwins9694 I agree. It's been debated for months. They admit it was a mistake and the faces were supposed to be painted, but so far they've refused to correct it.
The thing is that Super 7 produces a lot of stuff that no other company would/will. Sure, you have to put up with things like the higher prices because they don't have the economy of scale working for them, but if you want what they make they're the only game in town. Nobody else is ever going to do things like their deep bench GI Joe sub-license or Toxic Crusaders ultimates, so though I personally can't afford much at all in that price range I can totally see why some collectors are willing to "bite the bullet" on once in a lifetime offerings.
Correction: on that scale, Neca's MSRP are $35, anything above is the seller trying to make more out of it, but Super 7 do go from $55 up, we're talking about $20+ difference...
@@mirrortwins9694 it's ok, is not that you were a little wrong, I just wanted to point out that the overpriced gap is bigger, because honestly, Super 7 is asking too much for what they offer it's almost a robery lol
My main gripe (aside from price and qc) is the antiquated articulation. They’re still largely rehashing Four Horseman He-Man sculpts, but even the figures that don’t use the same exact blueprint. Nearly every other company continues to evolve and improve their figures, all while maintaining an attractive aesthetic.
Between MOTU, TMNT, and Thundercats, I own close to 100 Super7 Ultimate figs. Other than a few minor things here or there, I'm quite satisfied with the product. I just make sure to heat up everything before I go bending any joints, but I do this with all my figs. Cold weather is the enemy of new figs.
I don't know how long you've been collecting, but before there was a mandate by every small toy producer to half melt your figure in order to move the joints, we had the freezer trick to help liberate a stuck joint. And it worked. I know some of that is materials, many composites now use injected POM joints within PVC parts, and older figures used PVC or ABS for the joints too but this is a long way of saying, cold weather, cold temperatures, are not the enemy. If the toy is snappable cold, it's tearable when hot.
I think no, theyre not worth it. They are inexplicably expensive for what they are. Especially the 5- POA Reaction figures are way overpriced. They also seemingly have way more lines going than they can handle. They keep announcing more Ultimate lines when the ones they have are months, in some cases years behind schedule.
It's really tricky with Super7, because they do things no other toy companies are doing, but their quality control has definitely been an issue for me. I collect their ThunderCats Ultimates line, and I find that they're best left in the packaging, because they do look pretty great, but there's always a risk of paint slop and loose joints. My Cheetara's leg broke off, just because I lightly bent it back to put her in a sitting position. They tend to do a better job with playsets, so looking forward to Cat's Lair. Super7 is the only company giving us ThunderCats stuff, so what can you do if you love them and don't want to spend huge $$$ on the vintage LJN line? 🤷♂
I mean the detailing looks good but the articulation is so 7 years ago people have moved on and have gotten way more detailed figures from Chinese companies with amazing articulation. For the same price 😮
their scale is what really kills it for me. it's not even the lack of articulation it's the fact they don't scale well at all with me other figures like marvel legends, mafex, figuarts etc
I started seeing the Super 7 GI Joe line in Walmart so i bought the B.A.T. and it was cool looking but the head was loose as all hell (like the chest on your Tigra). I will still give it another shot just saw the Cobra Commander available at my Walmart so i will see how that turns out. Great vid!✌️
These kind of videos are very much appreciated with the upfront genuine reviews, granted you’re now on Super7’s blacklist and will never get shipped product for reviews J/k lol maybe your youtube channel will pay off for being real. Personally I can’t stand serious nice guy reviews like I just saw earlier…a great figure was reviewed but multiple concerns still unfixed in every variant, yet the guy that received the variant before everyone else only has praises for it. Hmm suspicious? This is on a $100+ figure!. That’s dishonest but the guy is so nice that no one dare comment on it, and it’s hard not to feel bad for even thinking of saying anything. What do you all think?
Super7 are great, but I don’t need multiple heads/hands and such elaborate packaging. If your were to trim some of this fat, you could probably reduce the price of each figure by at least 15 bucks.
Very true! We don’t care for packaging either. We’ve covered that issue before on Mirror Twins, and the issue of multiple and insignificant accessories! Thanks for the comment!
I would rather spend an additional $50 and get the King Conan the Barbarian from Mezco. You get more poses, accessories, and an overall better looking figure. Even with the Power Ranger figure, I would rather buy the cheaper Hasbro Power Ranger figures. Again you get more poses and a cheaper hit to the wallet. You can go to an Ollie's and find some of the Hasbro Power Ranger figures on sale for less than $10. I'm not telling people not to buy Super 7, because your money and, your choice. However these Super 7 do not look appealing to me. Good video guys definitely dropped a like.
I dodged many bullets by not diving in the Super 7 water. At the time I was knee deep in the Mattel MOTUC line, because I was subscribed to Mattycollector. I was really tempted to collect Ultimates Thundercats, but I felt like their just reusing the same body… I also wanted to dabble into the Ultimates TMNT! Again, I felt like it’s the same buck as MOTUC. I wanted more articulation, like you mentioned. Then everyone and their moms started complaining about S7’s quality control issues. I did buy Ultimates Toxic Crusader, and I love that figure! Super 7 has great products. Their just a little pricey for what you get…
They are. What people forget is that these are mass produced quality items like Hasbro/Mattel. The product Super7 make is even more niche than the likes of Neca. If you had Hasbro making Marvel or Star Wars in say half the number of what they are making them now you’d be talking Super7 prices.
@@nicholasdickens2801 I understand the production numbers, and seen many videos of Brian Flynn talking about the manufacturing quantity affecting the price of the product. Maybe if they pull back a little with the packaging, they can bring the cost down. Their packaging is beautiful to say the least, and I’m a sucker for the MIB presentation for some of these toys. At the end of the day, space becomes an issue, and a lot of these gorgeous packaging gets thrown in the trash.
Its great when they fix a QC issue- but they aren't goin back and redoing the characters that were initially jacked up- (usually). So that part really sucks
Yeah, it’s rare when that happens. When the Panthro was messed up, they sent everyone who ordered one a fix-it pack with a bonus head (as an apology). Where did that Super7 go?
I own five Super 7 figures. Two of them are floppy as heck with loose joints (their re-release of Classics He-Man and Skeletor). I Frankensteined my "perfect" Classics Skeletor from that figure, one from Mattel that I attained due to the great "Big Lots! clearance" sale, and a part I got from buying a New Adventures Classics Skeletor via eBay. Then I got a Shredder from them (Ultimate). He's pretty dope. The best Super 7 figures I've ever gotten from them are the "movie" MoTU figures. The Skeletors and He-Man are exceptional. Still, I am quite weary of getting more due to friends having bad experiences as well or seeing videos of bad QC issues.
Arent they $55 not $50, they are just too pricey for me and the 2nd hand resale on them doesnt look good from what i see on eBay. Everyone needs to flip old figures at some point when they get bored of them or something better comes out.
It’s wild I hear about the quality control all the time, but I have been blessed I don’t ever have that issue. My muckman started to show some loose after being displayed for a while cuz he is so heavy. But the other 12 figures I have are solid. And yes I am a poseable statue collector
We’re re happy to hear your S7 experience has been so positive! Hopefully, you’ll never have a problem with them. Posable statue guys are welcomed here! We’re just big kids and like to play with our stuff.
I just started finding super 7 ultimates at Walmart snake eyes and BAT. They’re going for $55, maybe I’m wrong but it was my understanding that part of that $55 price tag was the packaging. In store they don’t have there deluxe packing, just the window box.
I'm an opener; I like to pose and display my figures and the box just gets in the way. Super7, conversely, would be the only figures that I would keep in their box. You can't beat their packaging presentation and how good the figures LOOK, but yeah, when the rest of the industry is solidly into the super-poseable era of figure making, it's hard to justify a $50+ price point for what is barely beyond 1980's articulation. Not for me personally, but I will admit that an all-in-package display would still look pretty badass.
There at collectors out there who are in-box collectors, and more power to them, and S7 is fine for them. But that is not what we want out of a toy! Thanks for the comment!
I've been wanting someone else to do Thundercats. Just couldn't justify $50+ a piece for them. I'd rather pay less even for a 5 POA retro scale come back. If we could get Thundercats on a Marvel Legends, MOTU Masterverse / Origins, GI Joe Classified level of articulation for $20-30 each it would be perfect. Plus I collect other stuff to so I can't justify getting into them for that price range.
I collect ThunderCats Ultimates from Super7 and I haven’t experienced any issues like you have. I will say this Pumyra isn’t height accurate as they did say they would fix her height from what Mattel did with line when they had the rights to them. I did pick up the ThunderTank from Super7 but didn’t buy The Cats Lair from them as it not cartoon accurate.
Super7 wants so bad to be an art collectible, but they want to sell an action figure. Either up the articulation or cut the price. That's all they need to do.
Thank you for uou opinions in Super7, i am actually from the Philippines and was thinking of pulling the trigger on the Silverhawks Set that cost about $240+. I have a cousin in NY so she orders it online from BBTS then ship it here. Yes they are expensive indeed and lack articulation, now i'm having 2nd thoughts og purchasing them. But that BUZZ SAW figure was the one i really wanted when i was a kid but never got it haha
You are very welcome! S7 is not a bad product, but you need to understand what you’re getting before you buy. If want that Buzz Saw, get it! Then you can decide if you want the rest of the line or not. Thanks for the comment!
No disrespect …but SUPER7 does the worse with human figures like “He-man” you have on that table. That cheap shiny plastic instead of a Matte finish material or paint. They really mess up the female figures most of the time like “Cheetara” . The prototypes are always on point and then the final product comes out looking like a 9 year old made it…it’s pathetic and at the price they are charging is the saddest part…make it make sense.
The only Super7 Ultimates figure I have is the Lion-O (cartoon version of course) still mint in package and it's staying that way cause I got it signed by Larry Kenny and got it certified too.
I support the company. I see a desire to produce what big companies won't. If Super7 goes away who will produce these forgotten lines? Small companies like Figure Toy Company or Ramen Toys? The large companies don't seem to be interested.
That is very true. We love S7 and their stuff looks great. There are other companies that produce niche toy lines, like Neca, but not quite as expensive. Thanks for the comment!
Posability, price, and QC are my biggest knock in their Ultimates line. I'm bound to collecting their Thundercats line as I have been since the beginning and the overal quality has gone down in not only paint, posability, and quality control, but also sculpt. This was really my decision to not collect the Silverhawks line which I really wanted.
Agreed! Justin did the same thing regarding the Silverhawks (they’re just too expensive!), and only cheery-picks the Thundercats. Thanks for the comment!
Also, I agree that Hasbro does seem to market to adults first and foremost with many of their lines, (like TF,) but still play it safe and remain "inclusive" to kids, (including the descriptions at Hasbro, & Pulse etc.) I for one appreciated when Mattel included the "Adult Collector" label, (like on their MOTU Classics and various Hot Wheels a while back.) It goes that extra mile to give us that "sense of permission" that we need not be ashamed to be adult "toy" collectors (if that makes sense!) 😎
That makes total sense! Though on the other side, I will say I’ve heard some adult LEGO fans complain when LEGO added their “Adults Welcomed” branding. Apparently, many were annoyed that the company was “giving them permission” after ignoring the adult fan base for so long. Thank you so much for the comments!
The GI Joe Super7 figures are great. The best cartoon representations out there. Comparing Super7 to Transformers you would have to step up to the expensive 3rd party transformers wouldn't you?
I really like Super 7 but I totally understand what u mean in describing the figs. At this point, I get what I'm getting into with their figs. I don't really pose my figs all to much so that doesn't really bother me then most but price wise,, that's where it gets me. Their amazing to look at & the attention to detail is amazing but gosh, soooo pricey so I pick & choose very carefully. I must say, visiting their store (in S F.) Last yr was a treat & the Manager on duty was super nice & helpful so as a co. Their doing things right & I hope their quality control continues to improve. Thanks for the vid
Yes. I agree with most of your points on Super7 QC problem but I will say this about them. I was actually happy and rooting for them when they had the temporary rights to handle MoTu Classics because one big makeover that they did over, what is considered to be almost obsolete, the Classics buck system, was improving the articulation points. Ankle pivots, hinged and swivel wrists to name a few. Also, they improved the aesthetics of the body by giving it pinless joints. Throughout the time when Mattel was still doing Classics, they never seemed to be bothered with correcting the joint issues despite fans complaining about them for years. Yes. it was also a hit and miss with Mattel at the time. So, at least Super7 took the liberty to do something new or even innovative. And one more thing. Remember when Mattel first introduced the Club Grayskull or Filmation line, which started out with the main man himself, He-man. The sculpt and paintjob was great but the ankle joints were hideous! Now, as you can see the Heman figure in your possession has much better ankle joints, aesthetically and functionally.
We weren’t aware of all that history. We didn’t collect them back in the Mattel days. Thank you so much for that insight and thank you for the comment!
I really want to pick up some of the D&D cartoon Ultimates that are pre-order now, since they have characters Hasbro didn't include plus the Hasbro ones have been meh on quality. But $50 is a hard sell, especially when I'm hearing their track record ain't hot.
I open to display and do stop-motion with my nephews. S7 while they hold my favorite IP, price to quality isn't there for me. I'd buy a few to keep in the box but that makes them $50-$70 space takers for me. I got into SperoToys AWOK line as a result and grabbed a Street Shark inspired set from Fury in the process. Great objective look at what their producing compared to how they are pricing it.
I've bought a metric shit ton of Super7 stuff over the last decade, and I can honestly think of 1 figure that was flat out crap and only about 5 that I had problems I consider to be problematic. Just my experience, but I've been really happy with it.
Kind of depends on the line - like I've been quite interested in some of their Disney animated figures which by the simple physics of the character design have limited articulation if you want to get the look right (and you really really do). But I don't know why anyone would want their Power Rangers when the regular old Lightning Collection is way better. They are also pricey - but you do get a lot of accessories, so if you like them then it might be worth it (for the Disney figures, anyway).
Super7 started their "Ultimates " with taking over MOTUC at $35, a big jump from MattyCollector's $20. Super7 still uses that body type. Later on a price increase to $45, now $55 and up! I was shocked to see TMNT Scumbug at $65 and Wingnut is even $75. I do like the figures and properties Super7 is releasing; especially ThunderCats, TMNT (vintage Playmates recreations) and Toxic Crusaders. I'm 100% "cherry picking" their products. Human faces look off sometimes like the Conan figures. I was tempted when on clearance but it was too off putting.
I love my Super7 TMNT and Thundercats figures, but think they've got too many licences now and seem slow to release new product. I wish they would concentrate on finishing 3-4 core lines before starting Power Rangers, GI Joe, Godzilla, etc. However, the Thundertank is amazing, and Cats Lair looks incredible too. Who else would bring these big items to life?
I think they are definitely worth it. They are still the same price with lots of features and accessories while hasbro is still jacking up the price and still only offer a damn set of hands. And neca always breaks. But, most super 7 do end up goin on clearance on EE. Although a few good ones sometimes do sell out and gotta hope for a restock.
Here’s the thing: I buy them and they’re great…BUT because they’re SO overpriced I select very few and only the main characters. Often times I wait for them to go on clearance and pick up super7 for like $35 here and there. Don’t commit to a line or you’ll go broke. But yes they do look FANTASTIC
I base ALL my collecting off stuff that looks cool that matters to me. I could care less who makes it. Best one get my money. Neca, super7, Hasbro, playmates, etc.
Very good point. However, a companies history or track record leads the consumer to expect something from their product (good or bad), and every year it seems there is more competition.
I collect from many different companies, the only Super 7 i buy are their Dungeons and Dragons reaction figures and i pre ordered the D&D cartoon stuff coming in Nov. I also buy the Ghost Pappa figures but that's about it so far from them. I buy anything from NECA except for Turtles. Hasbro i buy Star Wars Black Series and TVC, as well as their D&D stuff. Godzilla figures i buy from Hiya Toys. Jada Toys i bought the cereal monsters and Chester Cheetah ad characters. Mcfarlane its mainly their new Music Maniac line. I cherry pick the Mythic Legion stuff i like from the Four horsemen and buy all their Figura Obscura when they drop. I just bought my first Mezco one:12 figure, not sure i want to delve into them to much way to expensive. I think the only major Toy company i don't buy from is Mattel and that is only because they don't offer anything i want atm. Though i do like their He-man stuff, which i had the old stuff as a kid in the 80s. There is just to much of that line out there and i would have to play catch up and that would cost a fortune, so im staying away from that line.
We have friends with very similar collecting experience as you. We feel it’s much better (and easier on your wallet) to be a cherry picker than a completionist. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks! Make sure you watch our latest video about Transformers! What Makes a Good (or Bad) Transformer? -Mirror Twins th-cam.com/video/UornzZxOO-c/w-d-xo.html
The lack of posability is what made me not buy Super7. I only have their He-Man toys and that's it. I prefer posable toys. I was also disappointed with their Godzillas from reviews online. I'd just buy the Hiya Toys versions which are far cheaper and highly posable, almost near Monsterarts quality.
I would love if Super7 continued their keshi figures (with the nostalgic M.U.S.C.L.E. branding,) particular continuing into Megaman 2 etc. (I haven't seen any of their "made in Japan" vinyl lately either).
Great review guys. I love their He-man movie figures. I have a few TMNT and a bunch of Thundercats. They do have a great look to them. I don't like the articulation for the cost. I do like the accessories. My Tygra has a weird color wash on his chest. When Amazon has them on sale, I buy them. I generally won't pay retail price for them.
Super7 has a MASSIVE price problem. I would have bought the Fantasia figures (it's my favourite movie) and the Metaluna Mutant (because NECA won't for their Universal Monsters line), but not for $85 Canadian. NECAs top out about $60 CAD and even that's high for them. But even the ReAction figures... A 5POA figure that is made to deliberately look janky and retro, meant to stay on the card as an art piece, should not cost $23 CAD. Toys R Us can't even get rid of them on sale because they can't sell them cheap enough to entice people to buy them while still recouping cost. I could go down to one right now and buy the whole Universal Monsters ReAction line if they were maybe $10/ea.
Problem is the promo pics looks better than the actual figure and for the price they sell for they should match the pics. I stopped buying GI Joe cause how they messed up flint and lady Jay Head where they didn't paint the faces
I've been collecting Super7 Ultimates from day one (He-Man etc...) and I honestly haven't had any issues with any of my figures so in that regard, I'm pretty darn happy with them, but as far as price goes... That's a whole other thing. I really wish they'd cut back on all the extras. I don't have any interest in switching out the hands or the heads. I also don't want weapons that they can't carry or hold at all times. It just seems like they're trying to make us feel better about the cost by throwing in a bunch of stuff we don't need or want. Lastly, the vehicles they are making are also insanely over priced. Valaverse just proved that you can make one and not totally break the bank. Even as an independent company. I'm still going to buy the stuff I want, but it's really difficult to afford it now that I'm on a super tight fixed budget and living in California. Hopefully by next year we'll have some kind of stability come back and prices of oil/plastic will go down, but I really doubt companies will lower their prices.
@@mirrortwins9694 the one I had was pretty bad. The body is way more pinkish and the arms are more olive. It was ugly and I sold it. Also consider that these bodies they use for Conan and most of the Thundercats, are slightly modified versions of the motu classics bucks from Mattel. That's a 15+ year old mold with 0 innovation or investment in it. A mold they didn't even come up with themselves. Is that worth 80$? 15 year old technology re-used to death with poor QC control isn't worth it.
I've mostly bought Super7 Ultimates when on clearance. For clearance prices, they are mostly worth it... The Power Rangers stuff feels brittle. The turtle stuff is ok at clearance prices.
I only have the thundercats, but I would say that they are not toys. They are slightly poseable statues....who have difficulties standing up.I need to get some stands for them. My sons (4 & 6) would absolutely destroy them if they played with them. Definatly not meant for playing. You have thin parts that would get bent or broken off quite easilly if played with. The quality control seems to be quite lacking. If I look at Grune, some joints are very loose to the point they can't stand up straight. One shoulder skull has a rubber slot and a rubber peg that just doesn't match up. It pushes the peg out, ruining the look of the figure. Paint job is generally good, but there are a few WTF moments. I expect better at that price point.
I used to collect alot of Super7. Their Thundercats WERE my main focus, until Tygra & Cheetara broke the Camels back. Too many QC issues and too much bait & switch. - I'm pleased to say, I stay away from anything Super7 now.
The re-engineering of Cheetara from render to product just totally destroyed my joy in Ultimates. She just doesn't look like Cheetara at all (and if you want to make a gaze thing then I mean sure whatever you want but for $50 she's just not screen accurate at all, or toy accurate or storybook, Rankin/Bass initial design or anything). It just made all of their lines not fun and I haven't purchased since then. I got a Pumyra in a trade but haven't bought an ultimate. While it's probably just a ME thing I just am not into the product. Will likely try and sell off and complete vintage instead. I can't barely pose ultimate figures anyway, they fall down constantly
I havethe TMNT Turtl;es from Super 7. Hate them...all the legs are too loose. Unfortunately, I wanted to complete my collection, so i bought all 4 of them. Waste of money, as I hate them, packaged them back up and they now reside in the darkest regions of my attic with the silverfish and spiders
When I finally decided to stop getting these figures I didn't act like the way you did the first few seconds of the video,I really wanted them to be good..but for the Life of me most of them Will NOT stand up! Damn loose ankles and knees on so many thundercats, tired of leaning them against the wall.
Totally agree. They’re so dang heavy too, for some reason. Even accounting for the larger size, they’re WAY heavier than, say, a GI Joe Classified figure. Thanks for the comment.
They are offering something that we cant get elsewhere - I’ve been quite happy with TMNT, thundercats and some of the random licenses they put out. Ive got quite a few. On Thundercats, im close to being out as all the characters that i care about are out. Ive gotten to the point of cherry picking. I give them more leeway because they are a smaller company
Super7 figurrs, just like any product, they do have issues. But overall they are decent. They have way more better sculpts and paint apps and accesories than the figures from Mattel and Hasbro. And they have a much smaller production quantity. All this leads to higher prices.
Super7 Ultimates do show up at one retailer around me...Best Buy of all places. They carry more Ultimates figures than they do physical media movies now which is a little wacky.
Can't get them at full price, not worth it imo. Great figures though, but still not $55-60 great. I have a few TMNT ultimates I've gotten on sale around $30 (which is what they should be priced) from amazon; I have several on my wish list waiting for a price drop. The only exception is Sheila from D&D I ordered the other day but that's only 'cause the extra funds from Christmas.
@ thank you. Yup as a collector with only so much to work with I gotta carefully pick and choose my day one’s lol unfortunately it can backfire sometimes if you wait too long. For instance, Cheetara is waaay over my budget. Oh well no worries
OK, so, I have many thoughts and comments on this topic. I appreciate what B. Flynn has had to say about hiding "unseemly" joints and taking away articulation for improved likeness, HOWEVER; their real person head-sculpts are pus. NJPW and The Major Pod guys had figures released and they had a likeness that was as if they were a cartoon and not real people. Terrible. For all the deco hits and first action figure with a middle finger first NJPW line, whatever, they weren't great. Animated head-sculpts are superb. Simpsons, Disney stuff, Animamniacs, Silver Hawks, Thundercats, The playmates TMNT and Toxic crusaders, head sculpts are straight up the same pulled off the screen or vintage card and I like that. KUDOS! That Arnold head, Major pod and NJPW? 🤮 "Ultimates". Why give the TMNT line the old-school style weapons rack and sprue as well as the updated versions? Surely the updated weapons are ultimate and the brown sprue is just added cost to them and thus, the consumer... could have done without it. Mattel's ultimates have tremendous articulation and, yes, some of it unsightly, but, a ninja turtle should at least have peg holes in the feet. That is a big inconcsistentcy of that line. Display box... I appreciate that they are awesome looking, but once the figure is out of the box, tada, bye bye, in the bin you go. So, why not give an option? They'll save expense and decrease cost and allow for more sales on the ACTUAL FIGURE! Inconsistencies of articulation. Some are so stiff I fear them snapping. Others are marinettes without strings.... My personal issue is how B. Flynn tells us what we want. I do not want 27 pairs of hands as they're not completely useful and a poor argument for increased cost. TL;DR: costs can be cut down to save the consumer cost, inconsistencies need to be addressed and B.Flynn talks out of both sides of his mouth. Great vid.
For an in box collector super7 is great reaction is awesome too some sky rocket in price ❤ there worst weirdest and czarface figures are great bestbuy sells the ultimates but beware they don't have slip covers and have been found with heads detached in box
I'm not impressed by Super7. I know orange shirt brother was talking up the paint aps on higher end figures driving up the cost, which is true, except Super7 don't have great paint aps. He notes the paint like 3 times, compare Mumm-Ra there to that Mythic Legions ogre you had in the group photo for a whopping 10 bucks more and really pay attention to the paint. And we're now seeing some smaller companies like Maestro Union and Fury Toys coming in with sculpts and paints that leave even Mythic Legions in the dust. And they're much better articulated! Sure, you might be looking at a 70 to 80 dollar price tag, but just as you guys were asking what does the price difference between a 25 dollar figure and a 50 dollar figure buy you, I'd counter that for 20 bucks more, you will definitely seeing an upgrade in all aspects. I think the larger problem is the animated style some collectors really gravitate towards. This is not a knock on that style or those who enjoy it, but the companies know you're a nostalgia driven buyer and they are charging far more on how badly you want a cartoon accurate figure than they are charging the cost to produce plus a reasonable margin. That style, because there's very little surface detail to sculpt, and only minimal shading required, is INCREDIBLY cheap ro produce compared to more detailed styles of figure aesthetic. And Super7 has the added benefit of using old molds from the Classics line that is a huge cost reduction for them to produce toys from and yet, they're charging boutique prices. Why? They've re-released Mattel's Classics Lion-O as a straight up repaint like 4 times now, why is it not getting cheaper with each release? Because that's how costs are supposed to work, once the molds are paid for, running more plastic through them is far, far less costly.
compared to lets say McFarlane's figures, they cost 2/3x.times more But they're not 2/3x times better.. So it's a clear no for me. I can most certainly live without their products.
@@mirrortwins9694 yeah like Thundercats you guys mentioned. It's been ages since some other company was able to release them.. And I've been awaiting ever since. On the other hand, many companies would love to have some market share from Super7's demographics. Mondo, Frazetta Girls to name a couple. I'm afraid that at some point no more "budget" businesses, such as MCFarlane would cease to exist. Like everybody in the world is a billionaire and we're the tiniest minority...
Yeah, we think Super 7 might be in trouble now that the pandemic collector boom is winding down. They’re still releasing stuff, though! You’re absolutely right about the Neca plastic. It feels very different from the stuff Hasbro and Mattel uses.
They need to cut their prices in half.
Couldn’t agree more they’re Godzilla figures look cool, but not 85 dollars cool.
I would totally buy them if they did.
A lot of Super7 end up on clearance from $20 to $35. That’s more like it. Although I still passed on Alice at $25 because it looks cheap and nothing like the promo photos.
Agree. I really wanted to pickup the Conan line but couldn’t justify paying that much.
Thoughts?
The 3.75" stuff is outrageously priced, especially for the sculpt and poseability.
That is a good point! Justin has some old Boss Fight stuff.
Yeah it's ridiculous
Yep. I picked up a few but they were loose on eBay for cheap. They’re cool but not for $20 🙄
@@firefly44220 that’s what I been saying $20 is too much and half the visual fun in these ReAction figures is on the packaging card.
Very true!
VERY FAIR criticism on articulation
Can you explain this system to me please. I’m confused about this.
Very good points! Justin also will not pursue any more Super7 figures for the reasons you mentioned. Thanks for the comment!
I have one. Won't but anymore. Also Hasbro has become junk too
@jamievaughn I've also heard that their (super7) customer service policy is terrible. Basically would blame the buyer for any issues and defects, instead of them admitting any imperfections. Good riddance to them, I say.
The 3rd party stuff is unlicensed which has got to be a big cost savings, since they're not paying for the IP.
Exactly! Justin is in that boat with the Thundercats!
Correction: on that scale, Neca's MSRP are $35, anything above is the seller trying to make more out of it, but Super 7 do go from $55 up, we're talking about $20+ difference...
We only collect the Gargoyles, so we’re not as knowledgeable of the breadth of Neca prices.
@@mirrortwins9694 it's ok, is not that you were a little wrong, I just wanted to point out that the overpriced gap is bigger, because honestly, Super 7 is asking too much for what they offer it's almost a robery lol
I tend to agree with the Super7 stuff. Looks great! But is it $50-70 great?
Yup!
Super7 pricing $60 MSRP, of which $25 is for the figure and $35 is for the cardboard packaging.
@@WiSMs yeah! Seems like it! And who needs all those accessories?!?
no
35$ at most
My main gripe (aside from price and qc) is the antiquated articulation. They’re still largely rehashing Four Horseman He-Man sculpts, but even the figures that don’t use the same exact blueprint. Nearly every other company continues to evolve and improve their figures, all while maintaining an attractive aesthetic.
Those are very good points!
Glad to hear! Have you had QC issues with any of your figs?
I don't know how long you've been collecting, but before there was a mandate by every small toy producer to half melt your figure in order to move the joints, we had the freezer trick to help liberate a stuck joint. And it worked. I know some of that is materials, many composites now use injected POM joints within PVC parts, and older figures used PVC or ABS for the joints too but this is a long way of saying, cold weather, cold temperatures, are not the enemy. If the toy is snappable cold, it's tearable when hot.
No reason you should have to heat your figures. If they were 5 dollars I could see.
The figures almost always go on sale. Pay full price for what you want. Anything else, wait for a sale.
Good advice!
True!
Very true. Justin stopped collecting them after he got the main Thundercats Ultimates.
Nope. I don't even want to finish getting the Thundercats with those prices.
Yeah, it’s a lot!
@@mirrortwins9694 I passed on Wily Kat and Kit.
@somarriba333 Justin skipped them and Snarf. Just the core goodies and baddies.
That is the same predicament we’re in! We want Thundercats, so Super7 is your only option. Thanks for the comment!
He definitely said it right, my Super7 figures are still in the box and I buy them to keep them displayed in the box, they look great!
Me too. I love my boxed ranger collection lol
They do have nice boxes.
I don't think their figures are worth what they charge. I like their figures but not for what they want for them.
Yeah, but they have those licenses that no one else has. That’s how they get ya!
@@mirrortwins9694True. I wish NECA would get Thundercats.
@@gilgamesh..... I wish they whould make Gi joe figs
I mean the detailing looks good but the articulation is so 7 years ago people have moved on and have gotten way more detailed figures from Chinese companies with amazing articulation. For the same price 😮
Very fair points. But look at S H figuarts. They’re up to $70-80+ now!!!!
their scale is what really kills it for me.
it's not even the lack of articulation it's the fact they don't scale well at all with me other figures like marvel legends, mafex, figuarts etc
Yeah! Neca and S7 both are on a 7” scale instead of the usual 6”!
Great video. I really enjoyed you Chemistry. Keep up the great videos.
Thank you! It comes with being brothers, I think.
Great commentary definitely worth a sub..I agree they are good to look at but any kinda real posiblity and play other lines are a better option
Totally agree! Thanks for the sub and comment!
Thank you so much! People have been telling us those Super 7 Joes have been popping up on sale, so look for those deals!
Thank you so much. We don’t feel S7 is a bad product, they’re just not what we want in an action figure. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you so much! And great comment!
Rip-Off 7 aint worth half what they charge
They are quite expensive!
Cool channel, glad I found it... subscribed!!
Thank you so much!
Enjoyed the conversation, fellas.
Thank you!
Very good point, guys! Thanks for the comments!
@@lanzotv I agree, the packaging is lovely and thinking of the environment I do feel more than a bit guilty buying them.
Our friend (who loaned us all the figures you see in the video that aren’t Thundercats) has those MOTU movie figures and loves them!
Arent they $55 not $50, they are just too pricey for me and the 2nd hand resale on them doesnt look good from what i see on eBay. Everyone needs to flip old figures at some point when they get bored of them or something better comes out.
It seems they do float closer to the $55 range. You can find them at conventions occasionally around $50, if your lucky. Thanks for the comment.
Oh, their packaging is gorgeous, but we don’t want to pay for something we’re going to throw away!
So, you are pretty much paying super expensive prices for the packaging ? No thank for me.
There at collectors out there who are in-box collectors, and more power to them, and S7 is fine for them. But that is not what we want out of a toy! Thanks for the comment!
No action figure is worth $50-$70.
It’s crazy how some go way past that range too!!
You are speaking out language!! Thanks for the comment!
So glad to hear you haven’t had the issues we an others have had. Enjoy that Thundertank!
Super7 wants so bad to be an art collectible, but they want to sell an action figure. Either up the articulation or cut the price. That's all they need to do.
Fair point!
Super 7 makes some beautiful figures...🤘🏼💯✔️
Yes they do. You can’t argue with that.
Many people have commented on the prototypes not matching the production toys. This seems to be an issue with S7. Thanks for the comment!
The only Super7 Ultimates figure I have is the Lion-O (cartoon version of course) still mint in package and it's staying that way cause I got it signed by Larry Kenny and got it certified too.
Oh nice!
We all wish NECA did these figures especially the Conan line.
Agree!
Agreed. Those 3rd party Transformers get up to CRAZY prices! Thanks for the comment!
Totally agree. Justin picks and chooses his figure carefully as well. We would love to visit the store some day! Thanks for the comment!
Super 7 Gi Joes, Lion o orange, and Super 7 Skeletor … that’s all I have to say. Best period!
Very true.
Great video! I have a teen and we both collect too!!
Excellent! Thank you!
Yeah, that is a high price tag to take a gamble on something you haven’t seen in person. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you so much! We’ll have to look into those toy lines you mentioned. Thanks!
I've bought a metric shit ton of Super7 stuff over the last decade, and I can honestly think of 1 figure that was flat out crap and only about 5 that I had problems I consider to be problematic. Just my experience, but I've been really happy with it.
We’re happy to hear that. It’s a shame Justin had a bad experience after only collecting a handful of figures.
So true! It’s all about what you want and your expectations!
We agree!
S7 definitely fills a niche and deserve credit for that!
Good points! Thanks for the comment!
I must be lucky with neca I have over two hundred and only one break on an early predator
Worth it for the last minute of the video!
You stayed to the end? You’re a trooper! Thanks!
Very sound advice! Thanks for the comment!

Yes. We agree. Thanks for the comment!
I would love if Super7 continued their keshi figures (with the nostalgic M.U.S.C.L.E. branding,) particular continuing into Megaman 2 etc. (I haven't seen any of their "made in Japan" vinyl lately either).
Some M.U.S.C.L.E. figures would be amazing!
That is the way to do it! Get ‘em on sale!
I wish we still had Toys R Us down here! We agree. A little too pricey. Thanks for the comment!
Problem is the promo pics looks better than the actual figure and for the price they sell for they should match the pics. I stopped buying GI Joe cause how they messed up flint and lady Jay Head where they didn't paint the faces
Several people have mentioned the same issues. Thanks for the comment!
The reason super7 is more expensive is becausentheir moq is lower. So it cost more to make them.
True. We mentioned that in the video. We tried to give Super7 a fair shake.
Thanks Súper 7! Amazing work ❤ 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Thanks so much!
Review toys that you don't own. Great Job.
We might do that. Thanks for the suggestion!
Very good points! Check out our other video where we dive into a few of these topics.

I love what super 7 puts out but I say they are hit or miss.
And hit or miss is scary when you’re plunking down $50+ every figure! 😬
Super7 seven inch figures are simply too expensive.
$55 per figure?
Who the hell can afford to collect that?
Agreed!
How is the paintjob "pristine" when that Conan figures arms and neck's fleshtone is not even close to matching?
We didn’t notice that when we were filming. Is it that off?
@@mirrortwins9694 the one I had was pretty bad. The body is way more pinkish and the arms are more olive. It was ugly and I sold it.
Also consider that these bodies they use for Conan and most of the Thundercats, are slightly modified versions of the motu classics bucks from Mattel. That's a 15+ year old mold with 0 innovation or investment in it. A mold they didn't even come up with themselves. Is that worth 80$? 15 year old technology re-used to death with poor QC control isn't worth it.
i pick up the 55 dollar ones when they go down to 35 dollars.
That’s the way to do it!
I've mostly bought Super7 Ultimates when on clearance. For clearance prices, they are mostly worth it... The Power Rangers stuff feels brittle. The turtle stuff is ok at clearance prices.
We need to search the clearance rack more often.
Yes! Totally agree!
I just wait for them to go 50% off.
That is a very good plan!
The Dragonzord was kinda worth it. I do like their reaction figures. Their pricey but I really like the sculpts.
Oh yeah. It’s sometimes hard to explain why one likes what they like, but it’s ultimately your money and your preference! Thanks for the comment!
I used to collect alot of Super7. Their Thundercats WERE my main focus, until Tygra & Cheetara broke the Camels back. Too many QC issues and too much bait & switch. - I'm pleased to say, I stay away from anything Super7 now.
I think that’s where we’re headed too. Justin is probably done with S7.
That green ranger is gonna be worth money sence jdf is gone now RIP champ
Maybe… maybe not. I think the older ones might be with more, but perhaps not the ones after or abound his time of death.
I will give Super7 this... they add a lot in the way of accessories and don't just release the same figure again with slight upgrades.
That is true.
We agree. Justin was disappointed in his Cheetara figure as well. The Thundercats line killed the enthusiasm for him.
A scary fate for any Ninja Turtle. Thank for the comment!
I like them quite a bit but rarely buy anything.
They do look good!
Very good point. We cherry pick too.
Super7 figurrs, just like any product, they do have issues. But overall they are decent. They have way more better sculpts and paint apps and accesories than the figures from Mattel and Hasbro. And they have a much smaller production quantity. All this leads to higher prices.
Very true. Thanks for the comment!
What qualifies as sculpts? One of the reasons I don’t like Super 7 is how smooth their figures are. Most of them don’t have sculpt details/texturing.
Super7 Ultimates do show up at one retailer around me...Best Buy of all places. They carry more Ultimates figures than they do physical media movies now which is a little wacky.
True! We have sen them at Best Buy. I’ve never seen them in our Walmart, but one commenter said he had! Thanks for the comment!
That’s smart. Justin wishes he waited for the ThunderCats to go on sale.
@ thank you. Yup as a collector with only so much to work with I gotta carefully pick and choose my day one’s lol unfortunately it can backfire sometimes if you wait too long. For instance, Cheetara is waaay over my budget. Oh well no worries
I like the 6/7 inch scale gi Joe stuff , but in the UK they are 55 pounds each, that's 25 to much.
55!?! Yikes!!
🤮
"Ultimates".
Great vid.
Awesome comment and you made some great points! Thank you so much!
@@mirrortwins9694 thanks and keep up the great content.
For an in box collector super7 is great reaction is awesome too some sky rocket in price ❤ there worst weirdest and czarface figures are great bestbuy sells the ultimates but beware they don't have slip covers and have been found with heads detached in box
Yikes! They are great for in-box collectors! But that’s not what we want. Thanks for the comment!
When you said i'm in a Disney movie you sounded more like the old dog from Robinhood and not Robinhood himself who had an English accent.
I don’t think Kyle was going for accuracy.
Very fair points. Regarding the paint apps, Justin was making the comparison to the Hasbro and Mattel options, not to other “craft” action figures.
@@mirrortwins9694 ah, gotcha. Sorry I didn't catch your names, this was my first time seeing the channel.
compared to lets say McFarlane's figures, they cost 2/3x.times more
But they're not 2/3x times better.. So it's a clear no for me. I can most certainly live without their products.
Good point. The sore spot is when they are exclusively making a license you’re interested in.
They astronomicly overpiced and Neca in europe they look nice but the plastick is not so good
Yeah, we think Super 7 might be in trouble now that the pandemic collector boom is winding down. They’re still releasing stuff, though! You’re absolutely right about the Neca plastic. It feels very different from the stuff Hasbro and Mattel uses.
I think super 7 handles what they do very well. Now they got the license form ring gi joe figs so there about to get even better
I hope so!
The prices also😂
495 for the Cobra MS is BS when your not even talking tax, a 100 shipping within US.
Nothing "very well" about that.
