What a joy you 2 gals are…. Your banter, support, humor, & love for each other is apparent. Thanks for sharing your friendship & talents.
You ladies always bring the sunshine!
Thanks for another fun video and seeing your beautiful projects. Happy stitching
Beautiful WIPs Shelia!!!
Thank you!!
Happy Early Birthday Shelia!!!
Thank you! It's a milestone year, 75.
@@SunshineStitchers OMGosh that is a major milestone!
The Statue of Freedom is on top of the National Capitol building, representing women of America. I love “Wash Day”, Shelia, it’s beautiful. All of your wips get a chef’s kiss 😚.EJ your “Bella Butterfly” is really looking good. I have so many of the same designs as you two are stitching. Some, you’re stitching I’ve already done. Great minds think alike.
I always thought it was Sacajawea! We are definitely on the same wave length. It takes both of us to be in the same ball park as you, though.
You guys crack me up about your traveling and all the stitching! Fab Sunday evening for me, too.
Who really knows how to spell zhuzh? 😂 I love your Flosstube & cross stitch! Thank you for sharing it all with us. Happy birthday month Shelia! Hope you have a good week at work EJ. ❤
Thank you, so much!!
You two make my day better. Crack me up. The projects and stitchery is beautiful.
Oh thank you! We are so happy you enjoy our videos.
OMGosh! Here is it galloping. 😂😂 Y'all kill me. LOVE you two!
Shelia, I just love, love, love Wash Day!!! Every time you show it and tell the story of the quilts I tear up. Thank you so much for sharing your stunning stitching with me!!!
Thank you for appreciating it as I work on it. Now that I have finished the sky that would never end, I am back to really enjoying it.
Yeah I have a year of the dragon going too! Love yours EJ/Candy. 😂. I was out of town this month and missed the One Dozen Quakers zoom call, again! One of these months! Scones with clotted cream is devine! We get it every time we go to Scotland! 🏴
You ladies make my day every week. The stitching I see is always beautiful. I love hearing the thought plan of a project. EJ I was cracking up Why not? zzzz hehehe Sheila the cruises sound fantastic. Maybe one year I will be able to go on the stitching cruise with you both. I would be so excited to meet both of you.
We would love to meet you. We have enjoyed your comments for a long time. Thank you for watching our videos for so long.
Love how you zhuzh up your videos! 😂❤
I like both of the new notebooks, but the second one made me say WOW!!!
It is spectacular! I think I will use that one.
Happy 75th Shelia!
Thank you for an entertaining video. This last week sucked so it was nice to laugh. Little, Noel, sheep, merry, seasons
Such beautiful works ladies. Thanks for the inspiration ❤
Your beginning discussion reminded me of a story my Dad told me when he was about 85. He was shopping in Costco and felt a sneeze coming on (allergies). He turned his head and sneezed right onto a lady that was passing him at the same time. He said she had this startled look but did not say anything. And he was cracking up about it and her reaction. Ahh Dad. Enjoyed seeing your stitching! Take Care.
That would have made a similar commercial, too! I can only imagine her reaction.
I so love listening to you 2. 🌻🪡🌻
Thanks for another fun Sunday evening y'all!!!
OMG…you got that right about men, that was hilarious! 😂 Thank goodness for women. I’m heading to your beautiful state for the first time ever. 🌴🐬🌞 I can’t wait to be there on my first vacation without the husband. I always love to see what you two are working on. 😍Thank you for making me smile!
Have a great time. Hopefully, it will be nice and warm. It's been an odd "winter" here. It's supposed to be the dry season, but we have had lots of rain. Regardless, have a great time. Hopefully, you will get to one of the beaches.
Love the dragon start EJ and all the beautiful WIPs!!!
Ok Enabler Sheila, I purchased “Da Cats” and the fabric. Love and thank you for making be buy it. Lol
I'm dieing here listening to you two talk about the littles. My Granddaughter is in 4k this year and had brought home everything under the sun. She will be 5 in a couple weeks and my Grandson just turned three. We took them to the barn yesterday to ride their horse and they both had non stop runny noses. Poor Sparky (the horse) was used as a face wipe more than we care to admit and since we had brushed dirt and dust off of him from the pasture, their faces were a mess. We must have used a whole pack of wipes trying to keep it under control 🤧🥴😆. Then they want high fives and hugs when they ride well 🤦🏻♀️
You just proved us right! It's like everything all at once!
The statue of Freedom stands atop the Capitol dome. She is wearing a Native American blanket, but is not a historical figure. I was also born in DC!
I thought I was told the statue was Sacajawea. I looked it up. The robe is actually a classical Roman robe - total bummer.
Shelia and E.J.! Greetings from Dallas! Another fun video! I’m stitching on Sun Worshipper which is by the same designer as Coffee Break in Africa which I’m planning on doing next as a companion piece. I’m loving Wash Day!! You all are going to have such a fun time on your cruise! Maybe in a couple of years for me!
Ladies, it's so much fun to listen to you as I stitch on Sundays. Your wips are looking beautiful! I especially like the Satsuma Street piece Shelia is working on. The fabric you're using is perfect for it. I also have a list of names and phrases of ladies who have influenced me that I started about 7 years ago that I wanted to stitch into a sampler at some point so it was fun to see Shelia's piece where she is doing that. EJ, as a retired educator, I can so relate about the Littles, lol! I taught at the middle and high school level and truly believe we are all geared towards one or the other but not both. I could spend all day with 170 high schoolers but when I subbed for my mother's kindergarten class, I was ready to melt down after two hours. Stay healthy ladies and thank you.
Thank you! Women of Honor by Rebel Stitcher Designs is a brilliant framework for your sampler. She provides a structure that you can work with easily.
Shelia, nice progress on Lady with Flowers. I ❤ it.
Have a nice week ladies🪡🪡
I am so enjoying stitching her. Her dress is so pretty.
EJ so glad to see you feeling better! I used to get walkiing pnuemonia every year when I worked at a K-8 school.
In the dmc color chart, the colour that is deemed a shade lighter than 3864 is not 3865, but rather 543.
Great. Someone sent me a redesign and conversion that is fabulous. Look for a great difference soon.
What a delightful video!
Between both of you, your commenters, and google, we have been educated.
We are always learning from our commenters. This has been unexpected joy of making FlossTube videos.
Seila your pieces look great and you are coming along so fast. I agree that the Nora needs blending. The hands are too light but a blend with it would make it better. No to coffee dye. Blend will will match what is there in the project which isn’t coffee dyed.
Thank you! Someone sent me a wonderful recommendation that I plan to adopt. The stitcher removed the hands and put arms, placing the hands behind the back. Some redesign, but totally worth it.
@@SunshineStitchers love it!!!!
👋😊👋😊
❤!
😅😅😅 back peddle out the kitchen EJ! 😅😅😅 That cracks me up!
Ms. Shelia, I’m just always impressed by the level of representation and thoughtfulness in the projects that you’re stitching. Love it so much!!
Thank you! I love your videos! Your stitching is amazing.
Hello beautiful ladies. I've enjoyed watching you for quite a long time. Talking about expecting perfection in ourselves and sometimes others here's a story. I was teaching my granddaughter how to sew quilt blocks together. But before that I had to cut the fabric into blocks. I kept telling my granddaughter that nothing is perfect we do the best we can. She watched me cutting the blocks and I was fussing over them. She was anxious to start sewing. She said to me, nothings perfect grandma. She was repeating back to me what I said to her. Without thinking I said yes that's true but I do want to be as accurate (perfect) as I can be. Wow! Here I'm drumming into her head to not be concerned about being perfect and yet I was trying to be perfect! I need to listen to my own words. My Blue Christmas piece by Keslyn's is a testament in being less then perfect let me tell you! 😂❤
Bright granddaughter! She was definitely picking up on what you were doing. For me, striving perfection can lead to wasted time doing something repeatedly for minimal improvement.
I am looking forward to seeing you all on the Floss Tube Cruise in January 2025.
Wonderful! It will be so exciting to meet you and spend some quality time with you.
Sheila, I’m sure you have shared your completed African lady in the past, but I don’t think I’ve seen. Do you mind showing the next time you work on her companion??
Y’all had me cracking up on the germy kids. My son’s fiancé just started her teaching career this year (middle school SPED). She’s was over one day a while ago, and talking about things they don’t teach in college. Being a career woman with more years at my job than I want to discuss, I let her know that happens with all careers…colleges can’t teach how different employers handle the job. Her response, “oh, I know that Ms. Jenni, but NO ONE mentions the number of times you have to help a kid blow their nose, how many times you see them using their sleeve, or even how often they will use anything handy-their stuff or not!!😂😂
She is so right! I will definitely show African Lady with Vase.
Pocahontas was Jamestown, Sacajawea was Lewis and Clark. Lewis and Clark came through St Charles so it was drummed into my head in school every year (their spin on it of course) I have since researched how sacajaweas story and the expedition actually went. I have been falling asleep on my stitching a lot lately. Glad to see you all back. I have a few of the Southern Roots that I need to start. Thank you for the Fiber Talk recommendation last month. I enjoyed listening to Deb's interview. (She handled certain parts better than I would've). She is a gem!
She was magnificent! I completely agree. I found out that neither are on top of the Capitol after all. I am sure the real story is another matter altogether. Both women deserve full recognition for their roles.
So happy to see you tonight! Thanks for sharing your projects and plans while I stitched. Zhuzh is the most common spelling.
We now have the correct spelling and I looked up the history. We will talk about it next episode.
42:40 : The moment I fell deeply in love with Shelia 😂
Ha ha! Thank you!! I felt my feet doing the happy dance.
You could take the larger composition book to Office Depot or Staples and they could cut the binder off and make it a spiral bound notebook and keep the beautiful cover..just a thought.
They don't cut binding off anymore. I found out last year...the hysterical coil binding for my planner experience.
@@SunshineStitchers I'll ask at my office depot
Enjoyed your episode. I have always said that I am my biggest critic. People say I am a very good cook, but I will go on and on about what was wrong with whatever dish I had cooked. I am a little more forgiving with my stitching, but not much. I am practicing telling myself at least once a day that it just doesn't really matter. I love your pre and post video discussions. They are so fun. I agree with Shelia on AC temps. It would hit 78 before I'd turn on the AC, but others in my house strongly disagree so we compromise at 73-74 degrees and I wear socks and a hoodie much of the time. Of course, I am also of an age where whether I feel hot or cold usually has nothing to do with the ambient temperature in the room. I just randomly get cold or hot, just because. Thank you for sharing.
I totally get you, Shary! One of the main reasons I live solo is to be able to control my environment which is definitely warmer than most people like. I am finding now that I do like a cooler room at night only because I love the feel of 2 layers of covers.
Shelia....a suggestion.....you might stitch a swatch of the blended skin tone before you frog the face and hands.
I'm definitely frogging, but the swatch before I commit is a great idea. I do have a wonderful redesign from a stitcher that I plan to use.
As of tonight Mar4 the Cruise is sold out!😢😢
Thank you! I definitely should have checked before the video. Should be lots of fun.
Love your videos ! They are always so full of good tips ,beautiful stitching and of course all the history lessons -
To put yourself under that kind of pressure is extremely stressful. I spent my life trying to be absolutely perfect. I went to school. I got 4 colleges degrees. It was very difficult. I have a mess and then in the end. I ended up being let go for my job because of my m. Yes. Now I had a nervous breakdown. I had to go see a counselor and the counselor told me to find 5 people. You know that you work with that. You come in contact with whatever have them. Write one sentence about you and put it in an envelope. When you're all done open the envelope, read the comments and see what people say about you and the fact that it's okay to make a mistake. I learned very late in life. After I had done all the damage to my self and stitching is a hobby. It should be fun if it's not fun anymore. Don't do it. Good luck to you, I love you guys. Wait to see your next video
Thank your for sharing your story. We can be our most critical and demanding judges. It is important to be kind to ourselves and recognize that we learn from our mistakes.
Hi Ladies,
Always good to watch your channel. Thanks for all the lovely pieces you both shared with us today. Love all the sidebar conversations as well. Sheila where did you get your Afrocentric bag that you have the girl in? Love that bag. Take care ladies and keep enjoy your stitching. Alberta from Southern, MD......😊🙃

LOL. You ladies crack me up.😂 Thank you!!!
Fab video ladies😃. EJ, re. the 'large' leapyear stitch , take every stitch one at a time, they're the same as on a small stitch.🤗🇬🇧
Sacagawea was Lewis and Clark. Pocahontas was Jamestown. That tree on Wash Day is amazing!
Both women deserve more recognition for their roles in the founding and expansion of this country. Actually, neither is on top of the Capitol...
Great progress on great projects by great people! Loving your videos. I will be at stitch NJ as well....now I am really excited!
Thank you so much! Be sure to say hi to EJ. She will love it.
I just had the look Shelia gave on EJs backstitching talk. LOL!!! Okay, back to watching…finally finished watching tonight. What a joy to watch the two of you. Stitching was beautiful as usual.
I thought it was Spirit Airlines and Jet Blue that were trying to merge
Maybe. I know it has had a ton of challenges.
Thanks ladies!!! EJ - I looked up that fabric and only found that HLC Fabrics has a website! Nice fabrics but no Serendipity...😥 That fabric is gorgeous! Shelia - you really got a lot of stitching in! Yum! I love scones with clotted cream and lemon curd! We used to have a tea house in town that served it. If you ever get the chance, go to a 'high tea'! You won't go away hungry, that's for sure!
I agree that 'high tea' is a filling and pleasant experience. I have been to 2 and had sconces with clotted cream both times.
I am sorry I missed the zoom on Friday…it sounds like it was great fun. Lots of lovely stitching shown tonight. 28 over 1 is doable if you have done 25 over 1…it is amazing how far a single strand of floss goes.
It is amazing. Whenever I stitch on 36 or 40 ct, I am amazed at how much I seem to get done with one length of thread.
My problem is I can’t stop stitching big projects, I’ll make a big amount of progress then I see another on and jump on that! I’ve got like 50 large projects and each has about 25% done. I just want a couple finishes a year is all.
I get overwhelmed with large projects. The amount of time I spent on the sky for Wash Day is why I don't do large projects. I begin to feel like I will never make any progress.
Sheila, what fabric did you use for Da Cats? Love it
It is a printed musical notes 28 ct Lugana from Fabric Flair. You can find Fabric Flair in many brick & mortar and online stores. I looked at the website and they have a different print available now.
Thank you so much for taking the time to look it up and letting me know.
Delta for me. I start a project most of the time now bottom left first. Is it rude to ask how long everyone has been stitching? My mother was born March 21st also, I understand the struggles.
Do either of you use mark up rx? or off a pattern? both? Do you watch the video's you make? I'm with you EJ it is right or wrong; and if it's not right it is wrong. If you know you know.
The struggle is so real. Not rude at all. I (Shelia) have been stitching since 1993. EJ stitched for a brief time as a child then started again around 2017 (but I need to check).
🐢🐌🦇🍄
🪡👍🏽
I think you stitched your new start the wrong way around, EJ. It is longer than wide in the pattern.
😳 let me check
I’m with you Shelia! I soooo wanted to go on your cruise with you guys, but I’ll be getting back from a cruise two weeks before and have another scheduled later in the year. I didn’t have a choice financially or energy-wise. I’m going to miss meeting you all so much though :(
Bummer! Timing is definitely off. Enjoy your cruise! Some day our paths will cross for sure.
It's spelled 'zhuzh' a small adjustment or improvement to complete the overall look, or taste of something.
Thank you! I looked it up, now that I can spell it, and looked at its history. Fun!
