I am confused.....In Gran Canaria, my understanding was that masks must be worn when out in public areas and social distancing is tricky. On the beaches they do not need to be worn, yet I see here people walking around here in public areas without masks. What exactly are the rules, please?? I am due to come to GC at the beginning of September, but I am totally confused about the rules about mask wearing there. I love your videos, by the way! It is wonderful to see life returning to some normality there and I really appreciate the time you take to post these videos for GC lovers like myself.
Mandatory use of masks. Where do I have to wear it?
In the open air and in any enclosed place for public use or open to the public when the safety distance cannot be maintained.
Who should carry it?
Over 6 years old, except for justified health reasons. Its use is not required in the development of activities that are incompatible.
What type should I use?
Any type of mask, preferably hygienic and surgical.
Hygienic masks are composed of one or more layers of textile material and may be single-use or reusable.
Surgical masks limit the transmission of infectious agents by breathing and protect those around them.
What is their lifespan?
Their useful life does not extend beyond four hours. Washing is not recommended. It is important to change them as soon as they are wet or deteriorated.
In the case of reusable hygienic masks, it is recommended that they be washed with detergent and water at 60º - 90º in a normal washing machine cycle, or immersed for 30 minutes in a 1:50 dilution of bleach with warm water. Then wash with soap and water, rinse well and allow to dry.
Do I have to take it inside the car?
If there is only one occupant, you do not have to wear a mask. If there are several occupants, all of them must wear a mask, except in the case of people who live together.
Do I have to wear it on public transport?
Yes, it is compulsory for public transport.
How do I put it on correctly?
First you must wash your hands with an alcohol-based disinfectant or with soap and water. Touch only the rubber bands when putting it on. Put it on your nose and mouth, without big spaces between your face and the mask. Pass the elastic bands or rubber bands behind the ears.
It is important to avoid touching the outside of the mask while wearing it. If you do touch it, wash your hands with an alcohol-based disinfectant or soap and water.
And how do you remove it?
Before taking it off, you must wash your hands. Remove it by touching only the elastic bands, and do not touch the front. Put it in a plastic bag, put it in a closed container and wash your hands again.
Frequent errors in its use
Carry it under your nose.
Wear it all day long.
Wearing it deteriorated or wet.
Put it on your forehead or chin to rest.
Remove it by wearing gloves.
