You are absolutely right, his voice is really calming. When you said that I immediately thought: too bad that Ville seems to have decided not to have children in the meantime (although I would absolutely understand that in this horrible world), because his voice would be perfect to calm his offspring and sing them to sleep. Even if the other members of the band contributed a lot to the style of HIM, it was Ville who, as a lyricist and songwriter, created the actual essence of the songs and with his inimitable voice strongly shaped the external effect. Ville has explained a bit about the video in an interview. They wanted animals in the video and initially thought of bats or something similar when Kim Koponen suggested a black sheep. Ville liked the idea because the black sheep is a symbol for the outsider.
HIM actually split up in 2017, they had their farewell tour and all. Gas(drummer) had already left the band, linde(guitarist) had other side projects. Mige and Burton wanted more family time. I think this is kinda Ville's way of acknowledging HIM is over. Regardless, as long as Ville is making music, I'm here for it and like you said, his voice is so distinct and unique, it's always going to sound a little like HIM as long as he's writing the music lol

No, HIM broke up in 2017--and the reason it kind of sounds the same is that Ville wrote the songs and produced many music tracks as well --he plays bass, drum, and guitar. As for the sheep--it is a Black sheep, like Ville. Ville is singing about the sadness he is experiencing going his own way from the band. He said he was apathetic at first but may have gone on to feel more loss and pain as the reality of the breakup hit him. So yeah, I think the black Sheep symbolizes him going it alone and being his authentic self, no matter what people think .

the term bloodletting, which has a wordplay to the song title loveletting. Blood letting is the withdrawal of blood from one person to prevent an illness. the wordplay of that is removing love to let go of that illness for the better. so when he is having dinner with the sheep, he has new blood entering his stream. Its symbolic of letting go of the relationship, or, letting go of HIM to start this solo project. and the sheep is a symbol of his inner peace in a way. Love your video reaction by the way.
Ville just posted a video, where he explains he took a long Time to do this, because he recorded drums,guitars, bass and voice by himself.. Maybe the guitar will not be so metal oriented like with Linde... But still I'm very excited for this new album!!!!
The thing with them being called HER was simply because there was another band in the US at the time that had the rights to the name HIM, so they went with HER until they were able to get rights to HIM. I don't remember it lasting too long, the HER thing anyway, because I remember Razorblade Romance being the only album of theirs to be released here using the HER name.
I assumed Ville would do something solo after disbanding HIM, but I hadn't checked into it. Thanks for choosing this! If there's one good song, there's surely more! I read up on HIM last night. It’s sad that they disbanded but Ville also said he won’t rule out the possibility of them getting back together in the future which make me happy. Chain smoking and keeping your voice as strong as ever is a talent in itself 🤣
@@playagain963 The new song is very much a HIM song, or at least you can tell who wrote it. Ville usually writes the whole song, all the instrument's parts...then plays them himself...very talented guy! I did find his mouthful of new teeth kinda distracting... he def looks different!

Then it goes on to explain the relation between the song and video and all else. It's the user's take on it but I think it makes perfect sense. You might want to check it out because you seemed so confused about the video :) The HER thing was a phase, I think, because there's only a limited amount of the Razorblade Romance album with the name HER, and every other album has always been released as HIM afterwards. HER was not a phase, the name HIM was taken by another band in United States when the album was released and they had to change it, that's all.
