Way back 2006 in the Philippines sobrang big deal ang certifications, may mga na-iinterview kami na mga fresh grad at walang experience pero sobrang daming certifications. Don't get me wrong ok po ang certifications pag tlgang inaral mo ung topic nung certifications pero kasi madali lng din gawan ng paraaan sa dami ng resources at dumps ngayon for any I.T. certifications. And base on my experience sa Pinas mga 2015 onwards and kahit dito sa Canada ngayon they are more into experience kasi nga ang dami naring way para ipasa mo ang certifications kahit hindi mo tlga inaral ung topic. Totally Agree! Idagdag ko pa kapag may certification ka mas tumataas ang expectation during interview. In my experience, when I interview someone with certification, I am more strict because you need to prove to me that you deserve that certificate. Madami kasi mahilig sa testking😅

I totally agree with you. Smart na ngayon ang mga hiring committee, hindi lang basta general type of questions ang ibabato nila sa iyo. They will ask technical questions based on the job posting that you are applying for with problem solving in a certain situation. Red flag talaga ngayon ang new grads with multiple certifications because of testking and other dumps. Pero lately based on feedbacks ng mga dating kasama ko sa IT, hindi na rin daw accurate at dependable, so its better to work hard on your exams na talaga.
My daughter is IT with masteral in Bentley university and works in Lockheed Martin here in US she does a lot of exams and training always snd now doing Phd in AI or artificial intelligence

So sa sinasabi ni Mike kahit ano ang qualifications mo unless ikaw ay employer or business owner pwede kang maaproved ng PR.. Yes napakataas ng cost of living here ang rental namin na 3bedroom condo with 1 maidsroom ay less than $5,000 SGD na dati $2.6k lang. So mga tumatagal dito ay usually PRs na dati or business owners. 😅

Guessing Mike is an IT tech support person, not a real application developer, so his job experience is pretty basic here, not the other way around as he describes himself and his 'experience'. It is usual that maraming IT jobs d2 sa Canada perform a panel interview. He is fortunate nakarating sya pre-pandemic. Also the bank lending rates were very low at the time...
IT has a wide scope of specialization. Yes I am into tech support for both mac and windows platform and at the same time into network infrastructure (deployment and configuration) with AV skills on the side. Unfortunately I wasn't into application developer (i never liked programming anyway). Pero nevertheless, as long as you are well compensated and you enjoy with what you do in a less stressful environment and physical work, it's good enough for me. Btw, mortgage renewal in Canada is usually every 5 years, so I am on my 2nd term in which the prime rate at that time is 6.5%

My opinion lang na mas mahirap sa application kasi when mga processing outages occur and could not be restarted normally, Level1/2 support who are mostly application developers are the ones looking at the issue often outside of normal work hours.
