- The late AmaZulu regent - Queen Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu - has proposed in a letter that her oldest son - the 46-year old Prince Misuzulu Zulu - ascend the throne. This wish was expressed in a letter to the Traditional Prime Minister - Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi - in a letter dated the 23rd of March. This was shortly after Queen Mantfombi was appointed regent - whose task it was to oversee the succession of the throne. The letter and her will has been read to members of the royal family by Advocate TG Madonsela. The queen says in the letter her proposal is subject to approval by the royal family.

The issue is Queen Ntombfuthi wagoduka for 3 years and only returned recently. The family doesn't respect her. I think her being placed as ragent offended a lot of family members although the law allowed it. Also her doing the queen shouldn't mean her son shouldn't be king.

Hayi but your tradition is confusing though. Isn't the son or daughter from the first marriage supposed to be the successors of Kings or Queens?
Why must a 2nd or 3rd wife's children be the successors?
ALSO how must the young generation survive being married to people they dont love because they must get wives from other kingdoms. What if there is no daughter available from those kingdoms? Will that mean if the nominated king marries a commoner there wont be successors as their the children produced from such marriage wont be legit as kings and queens?

I just think if it was standard rule that the children from the 1st marriage were the only successors, there wouldn't be any chaos or fighting as it would be a straightforward situation.
