Fun Fact: The woman who gives Ariel the “dinglehopper” at the market is Jodi Benson, the original voice of Ariel. That's a nice little homage to the original.
I agree with @Chuuzus that Halle and Jonah should be in another romantic film or tv series together, as their chemistry is actually perfect. In fact, I really like the idea of Jonah being cast as one of the Bridgerton brothers and Halle as his love interest. 😍 Can you imagine all of the pretty Regency dresses Halle would wear on the show?!
For me what I feel like people are missing is how fantastic the acting is even in the ship wreck scene. Halle didn’t say one word but you felt what she felt you we enthralled meanwhile no one was saying a word in the scene. Then the second half of the movie she is silent yet exudes so much emotion and feels so authentic to the OG Ariel.
Can we all agree that Chuuzus brightens up everyone's day with his videos? Also, yes, The Little Mermaid Remake was indeed great! I'm so glad I saw it in theaters with my parents! So moving!
I literally sobbed in the theater, & again last night. Everyone was PERFECT For their roles. Especially Halle, Jonah & Melissa. Daveed embodied Sebastian too. I was annoyed at first with the casting for Scuttle & Eric but they both surprised me so much & ended up adoring all of the new music. As a huuuuge fan of the original, this is damn near perfect. So excited to watch along with you!! 😭💗
same--original is top 3 for me and I'm pretty sure the ppl next to me were making fun of how much I was crying (basically when Halle started singing til the end)
I'm so glad you're reviewing this! This was my favorite Disney movie as a child and I honestly think this was the best live action remake Disney has done so far. It was wonderful and Halle was perfectly cast. I've been a fan of her and her sister for years and I always thought they sounded like sirens. Especially when they sing live.
I cried in this movie so much lol. That quote at the beginning sets the whole mood for the kind of film we are getting. I haven't loved any live action since the 2015 Cinderella remake. Just like Lily James was Cinderella, Halle Bailey was Ariel. She embodied such a beautiful spirit of character. And the emotion behind her acting and singing is so powerful.
YAAAASSS!!! I'm so glad you're watching this! I saw it in theaters (more than once) and I ADORE this version! Halle is PERFECT and Eric is a such a babe. Handsome & athletic anthropology nerd AND a rich? C'MON, our girl WON!
Fun fact:The woman who gives Ariel the "dinglehoper" at the market is Jodi Benson, the original voice of Ariel. That's a nice little homage to the original.
I absolutely love how during the song wild uncharted waters Halle’s voice was in the background exactly like a siren, her voice is so beautiful 🤩 Also prince Eric is cute!!
For another black princess, you should do Rodger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella with Brandy! Also, it is completely canon that Ariel’s mom was killed by sailors😅
this is probably an unpopular opinion, but as someone who grew up with the animated little mermaid, the live action is better for me & i didn’t think that would be the case bc of ppls reviews for the movie but i liked it a lot & more than the og 😭 they did some things different in this movie & they worked really well with the concept of this movie
The og little mermaid was my favorite movie growing up I mean I had phases I would watch it every day for weeks as a little girl… and i admit I enjoyed the new film even MORE so it is not unpopular just people don’t admit it as much
This is my first video I have seen of yours, I love you already! I saw this in theatres by myself and then with my daughter. She’s mixed Thai, Irish and black it was really nice to see something that represented that half of her. For me growing up I only ever saw white princesses, Mulan and Pocahontas were my girls 😂 it was a HUGE thing for me and it’s nice to see that develop more.
This was giving everything! From Halle's singing, the songs, the CHEMISTRY. Chuuzus you coincidentally posted this the same day my siblings and I watched the movie. We loved it. The racists were definitely mad pressed. 🐠🧜🏿♀️🦀
This is the only live action disney remake that made me cry! It was so beautiful! 💕 Halle was the best part of the movie! I hate how much hate she got for it! She was perfect
I loved your reactions and how emotionally invested you were in this film. Halle's voice was so beautiful and soothing to listen to and her natural beauty was amazing. But I DIED laughing when she returned to land in that blue dress: "Why are you back in this raggedy dress?"
idk why but after seeing the live action, I realized the story seems like it’s much better suited for a live action as opposed to animated. I liked how much they leaned into the romance aspect and seeing the storms and Ursula in the final act made me like this version SO much more than the animated one.

When I went go see this in the theater, weeks after it had come out, it was still a crowd of people of all ages, of all races, of all backgrounds. And it was beautiful. I didn’t even get annoyed at the off-key kids singing along with Ariel. I sang with them. And Halle Bailey ATE this role up! I didn’t even know who she was but I was proud of her & caught myself feeling very emotional by her emotions. Also, I was looking around when they showed Jodie Benson, the original voice for the Disney animated Ariel, & no one knew who it was. That was the only disappointing thing about this movie. So many people made a big deal about who was playing Ariel & then they didn’t even noticed the original. Also-also, Awkwafina as Scuttle was a choice… & it paid off! I loved it. She was perfect. Disney must love her because this is the third time they’ve used her in a film (at least that I know of). First, she was Sisu in “Raya and the Last Dragon”, then she was Katy in “Shang-Chi” & now she’s in this. I love her 💜🧜🏽♀️
I love your enthusiasm and I agree: there's little to nothing to complain about this movie. I've seen it multiple times in the theatre and now I can watch it whenever I want at home!❤✨🧜🏾♀ I'm hoping for a sequel or something else where Halle can shine again as Ariel and where she can wear multiple princess gowns.
Watched this movie in theaters and it was amazing I laughed, I cried and I sang along Halle did sooo great and we got bare representations Jonah was really cute too 😍

I personally think that people who "didn't like it" were dead set against it and were complaining because of other TH-camrs who made hating it their personality. It's easy to tell tbh
I'll watch the movie in this reaction 😂 i just don't wanna waste my time on it i don't support Disneys cashgrab it's pretty annoying already...Walt Disney wanted a live action every 10 years not every single year 😅 i don't like how they just shove their "representation" to already existing characters it's like if the character being White Is not enough...they make us less than Black people which i will not support....we had So many Amazing films with Black actors, i don't know why anyone can't see that, they say how Black people Are not represented but ignore like every Black actor that has many popular movies liked all around the world
@@tygerchickchibi i can hate whatever i want And not making it my personality lol the movie IS a cashgrab as any other Disney live action And if you can't see that then you sure Are ok with changing Black characters to White BOI
TLM is my favorite Disney animated film and I loved this so much. It made my inner child so happy. I watched it several times in theater. It’s one of the best live action remakes imo. I really hate that it performed poorly overseas and that Halle had to deal with so much hate. But it’s beautifully done and I hope she’s proud of it, she should be.
I saw it twice and I’m obsessed with this film. Halle was absolutely amazing, and Jonah and she had wonderful chemistry. I’m probably going to watch it several times on streaming. The Disney logo is iconic as you said. When I was a kid growing up, every Sunday I watched The Wonderful World Of Disney, only then Tinkerbell use to fly around the logo.
I think we all cried over this movie. Was amazing to see her do a great job playing this role....okay your next movie or a movie you should do eventually is Carrie, the old version. Just a suggestion.
LOVED this movie. Halle & the whole cast are so perfect. One of my favorite things is that Triton’s daughters are supposed to represent the 7 seas, and in this version they really cast actresses to represent those areas. You should watch Halle’s Disneyland live performance of “Part of Your World.” To sound that flawless LIVE?! An amazing talent
Grimsby (the old butler guy who kicked the ring away) was the MVP in this movie. He was to Eric what Sebastian was to Ariel. Trying to be the parent’s voice while being understanding and finding a little wiggle room so they can do what they wanted. This movie and Cinderella were the two best live action remakes imho.
I watched this movie three times in the theatre and i just kept wanting to go back, Halle was absolutely perfect for this role. I didnt really like The Little Mermaid before but this version is my new favorite movie like i cried watching this movie, shes just so amazing
As a long-time Siren, i knew the good sis was going to come through. Who i was sceptical about was Melissa McCarthy. She's an incredible actress but i've only ever seen her in comedic roles so i wasn't sure that she could bring the dramatics and cuntyness that Ursula possesses and i was pleasantly surprised. She did so well! Everyone (except for Sebastian CHIILEEE) did the damn thing when it came to this remake...for me, it's the best Disney remake so far.
I wish I could have seen this more in theaters but money was tight but I dead ass cried in the theater with my friend. And chu you continue to bring so much light with these reactions. It’s always a good time love you
I watched this movie in theaters 8 times! I cried the first 4 times. The way her father treated her is symbolic of how so many parent out of fear. He lost his wife (who ariel reminds him of most out of all his daughters) to humans so he hates them. So of course Ariel is drawn to them (Triton's karma for hating the surface world). She is meant to teach him to let go. Yes, he loves her more than anything, but keeping her from living her life isn't going to bring her closer to him or protect her. It does the exact opposite. I think the part that gets me the most, emotionally, is how her entire family is there for her in the end and how her father sends her off with the wave, officially "letting her go". As a parent, and daughter, I relate so much to both sides of their relationship and I can't help but sob. It was perfectly acted on both their parts.
The Little Mermaid was my childhood obsession and this was the most PERFECT retelling of the story, everything they added was was beautiful and they couldn't have picked a better person to play Ariel, anytime I hear her version of part of your world I can't help but burst into tears
It became my third favorite version of " Part of your world ". I'm french so the first was the animated movie's one and the second was sing by the french voice of Melody in the end credits of the second movie

I watched a Reel of this girl saying she didn't get any chills watching the Little Mermaid. Wow, I'm glad to say she's wrong as hell. I got goosebumps hearing Halle sing and seeing on screen.
I literally just watched the movie right as you posted this. The film is actually great unlike what some people on the internet were saying. I thought a realistic Flounder and Sebastian would be too weird but they actually animated them very good. They looked cute instead of looking creepy. Plus, Halle Bailey fit the role perfectly. I don't get the hate
I loved the film but I did not like how flounder looked. On the other hand, I think he would look even weirder if they made him to look like the animated version so I understand why they did what they did….
