Hearing that first commercial describe Waspinator as "evil" cracks me up, considering how he was portrayed in the TV show. Evil in his own mind, and I'm not even sure that's entirely true.
I think the show made Dinobot a Predacon that changed sides to explain why he was the only Maximal to change into a dinosaur. While all the other dinosaurs and reptiles were Predacons.

I used to have a lot of Beast Wars figures as a kid, although I didn't have all of them. My very first Transformers figure was Beast Wars Dinobot. Which sadly, I no longer have. But I do have the WFC Kingdom Dinobot(as of this reply)

Before Scorponok and Rhinox were added to the roster (and toyline), there was the Predacon Iguanus (Iguana) and the Maximal Razorbeast (Warthog). It wasn't until later while the tv series was already in production that Hasbro released the Gorilla Optimus Primal and T-Rex Megatron that their new models were added into the series (which is why Optimus was the only Maximal before Airrazor that could fly since it was carried over from when his alternate form was a Bat, and why Megatron was brushing his T-Rex's head's teeth with a toothbrush since it was carried over from when he was a Crocodile).

Man! I had a similar experience with my High school homeroom teacher. She took away my Transformers Essential Guide book, and never gave it back before Christmas Break. So I took it back from her desk drawer without her knowing. Then when she asked my why I did it, I told her because she wouldn't give it back before Christmas break, so I took it back! Never brought the book back to school since then. Unfortunately I lost it years later.

Joking aside, who else would you open the commercial of your new major toyline be, but seems weird today. I don't know why, but I'm not surprised that they would change their alt-modes. Now, with research, I found that the original storyline were that these were the classic characters, continuing their battles in new animal forms on modern day Earth, even had a comic miniseries to launch the toys. Habro abandoned this context and reconned them all into new characters when Mainframe created the admittedly more interesting concept of the Maximals and Predacons would be their descendants. Crocodile Megatron is actually really cool and fitting, I wouldn't have said no to him remaining in that alt, but my question is, why a bat? Seems weird choice for Optimus, don't it? Well, it turns out the original figures were being designed by Kenner toys, who were at the time doing the merchandise for Batman media, specifically the movies and Animated Series. Prime was basically being recycled from the models of their Batman action figures. .... So yeah. Que the "the more you know" shooting star... thing. :)
Can't believe I had all of these and gave them away when I was a stupid young teen. I have an entirely different collection now of 3rd party transformers but there isn't a drop of sentiment or nostalgia attached to them. My favorites were Beast Wars Snarl, Transmetal 2 Dinobot & Ramulus, Quickstrike, Transmetal 3 Megatron and of course Tigerhawk although he really needs a 3rd party update.

IMO, no spinning blade gimmick is one of my biggest cons with WFC Dinobot. Sure it looks just like the cartoon, but removing his gimmick is a real disservice to TF fans, and the character! In fact, almost every "new" Transformers figure has no gimmicks anymore! Just changing from beast/vehicle to robot and nothing else! WTH Hasbro?!
It was so weird to me that before Optimus Primal, that they decided to make him a small toy bat and same with Megatron. Most of the time they were these big leaders in their toy iterations. Obviously they went back and changed it with later figures but it’s funny how small they were in beast wars

This certainly brings back nice memories from both the toyline and the cartoon, although it also reminds me how I always found it a bit baffling how several characters featured in the toy commercials never made it to the show. Nowadays I understand the CGI animation was very expensive and there was a hard limit to how many recurrent characters they could have, but the selections they made still puzzle me at times. For example, based on the commercial that introduced the Fuzors toyline, I would have expected Silverbolt and Aquasting to be the characters featured in the cartoon, but while we did got Silverbolt, the Fuzor Predacon in the cartoon was Quickstrike.

Or Torca as a heroic Maximal counterpart to Sky Shadow.
I remember most of these commercials. I still have quite a few of the toys still. The Transmetal Megatron needs some repair in the left shoulder and right arm. I have to make parts for him. I have Optimal Optimus on a bedroom shelf on guard duty 23 years later.
I’m so thankful to have gotten to grow up during the beast wars era. Love that we get screen accurate toys now to but wish they weren’t so expensive lol and now we also get to see it on the big screen

Well Transformers with beast forms and organic forms weren’t new. You have in g1 where the Dinobots and Insecticons turned into mechanical animals rather than organic and the pretenders who had organic shells. Beast Wars was basically mechanical beings turning into actual organic animals.
And you know what more funny both are mechanical have a depth lore and emotional story,Even bionicle comics book was from DC comics and transfomer was from Marvel comics
I remember owning Optimal Primal. I can't recall if it was a birthday present or Christmas gift. I can't believe I use to own these toys as a gift. I was really into the beast wars and beast machines although I saw 90% of the episodes for each seasons. Good times. 😅🐵🍌
Beast Wars was Transformers series I grew up with. Sadly, the toys fell apart easily because of loose joints. Luckily, they fixed the problem with the recent rereleases.
That Optimal Optimus name didn't stick in the show which is great. There's no way Megatron and Tigerhawk are Transmetal 2 since they never used the Transmetal 2 driver . Tigerhawk is a Transmetal Fuzor💯🤓

Well Transformers with beast forms and organic forms weren’t new. You have in g1 where the Dinobots and Insecticons turned into mechanical animals rather than organic and the pretenders who had organic shells. Beast Wars was basically mechanical beings turning into actual organic animals.
My favorite toy line ever, second is Bionicle!
Both saved something too! For BIONICLE it was LEGO and Beast Wars it was Transformers.
Like how bionicle saves lego from the bankrup beast wars saves this franchise from the darkses moment
And you know what more funny both are mechanical have a depth lore and emotional story,Even bionicle comics book was from DC comics and transfomer was from Marvel comics
It's a shame we never got a Legacy Optimal Optimus. I guess there's the Power of the Primes version but good luck finding one.
I remember owning Optimal Primal. I can't recall if it was a birthday present or Christmas gift. I can't believe I use to own these toys as a gift. I was really into the beast wars and beast machines although I saw 90% of the episodes for each seasons. Good times. 😅🐵🍌

Beast Wars was Transformers series I grew up with. Sadly, the toys fell apart easily because of loose joints. Luckily, they fixed the problem with the recent rereleases.
That Optimal Optimus name didn't stick in the show which is great. There's no way Megatron and Tigerhawk are Transmetal 2 since they never used the Transmetal 2 driver . Tigerhawk is a Transmetal Fuzor💯🤓
I like how in the first commercials, there's a click sound with every step in the transformation of the bots.

i like the 5th gen models because they have more articulation, and designed closer to the characters
