There’s like the sorta Wesley Willis ethical thing here but I honestly think both cases are inspiring. In both cases mental illness creates some funny moments but I think giving truly unique people like David a platform to be truly himself enriches all of us

Then I asked some guy that was standing nearby if he knew who that was, and he was like, 'no but he's out here after shows all the time'. People were walking by not even knowing who he was

Several people reported him asking them to drive him to a town or so over, only to keep pushing it until they’ve driven him across the state trying to sell CDs to churches. This show gives me hope. From time to time I feel like adult swim (and alternative media in general) gives too much airtime to postmodern cynicism, but then they publish metamodern sincerity like this and I just feel absolutely warmed. Keep it up AS!

Joe Pera as a director at the very least. I don't mean to stink on Tim and Eric but the signature editing and obvious audio splices made David's character and story much less wholesome than it could have been.
I met David on the train on the way to his own show with Joe Pera at Palisades in Brooklyn a few years ago (rip to a great diy venue). He gave me an abridged history of the entire NYC subway system, and I helped him find the venue when we got to our stop. What a wonderful, genuinely one of a kind dude. Hope you're doing well, David.
I was once on the phone with David for an hour to try to hire him for a video. He told me I'd have to pay all his bills for a month, including his rent and storage fees. At one point he got a call on another phone and took it but didn't put the phone down with me, so we were both confused as to who he was talking to at any given moment. I hope to work with him some day.
