Right! It’s so sad how Darcy ended up. No matter how amazing someone is the Rockstar life is a rough one to live and you can’t blame someone for abusing themselves through it all. Poor Darcy.
This live performance is basically a masterclass on how rock drumming should ideally sound in the context of a rock band. I mean, Jimmy is such a phenomenally gifted drummer he can play whatever he wants and give intensity and dynamics to it. I think that's one of the many things that set him apart from other drummers of his generation. Amazing talent! And of course, Billy and the others did a fantastic job too!
He was brilliant until he took too much powder and played everything at double speed live, then his keyboard mate ..... Tragic way to write off a glorious run at the top.
@@johncollins5552 'powder'? As far as I am aware, Jimmy has had problems with narcotics, alcohol and, most infamously, heroin. I've never read anywhere about an alleged cocaine (or crack) use of his. I genuinely have no idea where you got this, pal. Let's analyze your opinion: for you, he started NOT being good since he started doing this 'mysterious' powder? Well, too bad Jimmy probably never did it. Jimmy actually started having serious problems with heroin as early as the time of the recording sessions of Siamese Dream. So, following your logic, he was brilliant from '88 to '93 lol.
I went to one of their reunion tour concerts a few years back, most excited to hear Billy and Iha playing together. They were good but Jimmy was unbelievable. His playing was hands down the highlight of that concert. The guy is unbelievable. Been to a lot of shows and have NEVER heard drumming like that. Glad I got to hear/see him live.
Never *loved* the song but I have to say, that was possibly the best SP performance I've ever seen on video or live. The audio was mixed beautifully and the band played perfectly. There was a big applause at the end so I'm guessing the reason 97% of the crowd were standing there motionless was because they were so in awe.
*The original line-up just looks cool and adds to their weirdness and originality. Try to to watch that new incarnation of smashing pumpkins that's Billy Corgan plus a whole bunch of people no one has ever seen or heard of and it's beyond boring.*
One of the best shows i have seen is 1995 Smashing Pumpkins, he was wearing the same zero top as he is in this clip, i was on acid and the whole stage show was mesmerizing, they didn't have any stupid dancers thats for sure. Great show, i'm usually a fan of more aggressive music but they absolutely killed it.
I kept thinking if they had more sluggish, restrained moves...more listless...it could have been classic. True go-go moves... But the ridiculous flailing around with almost no consideration for the song... very weak. Your assessment made me chuckle, thank you. Exactly right.
I think "The white room" was on U.K. Channel 4. Along with "Later with Jools Holland" and "The old grey whistle test" on the BBC we had some great live music shows. Some good shows in the late 70's early 80's too. It was great in the U.K. then.
I remember watching this on TV. I taped it onto vhs as I did with any and all Pumpkins music videos and performances I could come across on UK TV at the time. The sound is incredible. Blown away to see this again, thanks for sharing. Still the best band ever imo 🖤
the terrible juxtaposition of frames switching from the stage dancers to billy saying "can you fake it... for just one more show," as he gives the camera the eyes makes this whole fucking video just boil over in amazing caustic nostalgia
tooth paste I'm talking about badass young groups that have mainstream success... when a group like this has mainstream success, to me it means that the masses back in those days had better musical taste than the masses have now...
beefcakepantiehoes it's because your living in the age of sexually confused fragile snowflake millennials who think that they are entitled to everything without working for it that's why lol
Probably the best drummer The White Room series ever had on. I used to record these on the old VHS back in my 90s youth. What a great time to have been a teenager, loved it man!! Still do!!
Im not a HUGE fan of the pumpkins but i have to give credit where credit is due. They have a VERY unique style and sound. I dont even know what kind of genre of rock to put them under. Indie? Grunge? Punk?? Theyre a mashup of so many genres its so interesting
Wow.. james was just the coolest looking guitarist of the decade no question..
Effin love James
Yea and here we are watching a couple of nasty wenches heaving about. What a shitty video.
When he dragged his pick on the string it was so badass

More Darcy less dancers...

I agree 👍
More Darcy less Billy🇦🇺🇦🇺
@Darren88 it's Billy's band lol
I kept confusing one of those dancers with James from behind 😅
When Billy’s voice was at its peak.
This tour obliterated his voice sadly. Would have great to have been there at the time though.

One of the best drummers live in the 90's with Danny Carrey from TOOL ( both having jazz training background )
@@johncollins5552 He is still playing in a jazz band and has recovered for many years . Time to get your facts right dude

The dancers add a strange creepy vibe it it... i love it.
their dancing to another song
The sound of the drums 🤩🙌👌
1:27 when you're the only one thats hyped for concert
JC drumming is surreal, that snare sounds perfect
Phenomenal crack on that drum.
why y´all styled like how we grew up
Is that a steel snare or wood snare?
@@jamesmarshall7885 That's definitely a steel snare, man.
That drummer is excelent.
one of the best, if not the best drummer
TomSawyerLost but enough about Gavin Harrison
Agree,Jimmy is in Beast mode here!
The best..ive said it since I first heard Pumpkins at 14 in 1991
Jimmy was also is a very dark place during this period
Some serious badassery going on- SP at the height of their powers. The drums are just utterly fucking fierce
On a Smashing Pumpkins buzz atm
How it be.
same
Same
Same lol
1:31 for a moment i thought it was james iha hahah
strange stage dancers i think.....
Jorge Genovés agree
cringe crew
watch the Simpson's episode with the smashing pumpkins, it explains the emotion of the crowd
are you being sarcastic, dude?
I'm deeply in love with 90's D'Arcy.
Have you seen her recently lol
Jayson Williams that’s why he said (90’s) stupid ass
because there is 2000's darcy not exist
We all were.
dat mosh pit 2:46
Forgot how smooth this drummer plays.
they performed perfectly the song, incredible, it almost seems a playback

That snare sound at 1.51. Jimmy Too Good.
G Cummins
As usual with Jimmy
My childhood fav band now I get to hear his awesome voice again.
That snare drum stole the show!
Well said .
that'll be due in no small part to the extra 3rd overhead over the kit I noted!
@@Boleskinebeatz sure! The best snare sound always comes from the overheads!
Yeah, I love Jimmy's snare sound on this. You can hardly hear his snare on the albums so I love hearing it live a lot better.
here is some classic 1990's purity we miss so much.
D'Arcy was the coolest.
James was pretty cool but they were both useless

She’s still alive
Somethingclever so fucking beautiful too not going to see them if they tour the uk just out of principal
@@oDTRT go listen to oceania and then you will understand that they weren’t useless at all
This is one of the best performance I've seen of this song live... Usually they change up the whole song...
Corgan is such an artist in every way. He couldn't even play this song normal even when it was this fresh to the world.
One of the best shows i have seen is 1995 Smashing Pumpkins, he was wearing the same zero top as he is in this clip, i was on acid and the whole stage show was mesmerizing, they didn't have any stupid dancers thats for sure.

Despite all my rage, I'm still working minimum wage
Be lucky hillary didn't become president or you wouldn't even have a job.
Ohh shit Lmaooo
Good one...
-said the dancers
Paul Chamberlin nobody:
Trump supporters: Hilary lost get over it
Is it necessary to put dancers on rock performance?
Eldias Mahdi Sastra yes
totally unnecessary and awful
yes man, why not?
I enjoyed it, why not?
absolutely a necessity
Incredible performance, everything is perfect on this one, the camera work, the mix. The smashing pumpkins I felt in love with. ☄⚡🎸🥁
Jimmy Chamberlin is a beast. When is the reunion?
SonicVision As soon as Billy apologizes the people who went to all extremes to get tickets to their “Last show ever” at the Metro.
you called it
Jimmy probably didn't mind the dancers doing their thing on stage.
those dancers ruined it
Really...I was just watching the band lol
so is
because of their dance, that is not the kind of dance for grunge or punk music. Looks like modern art performance XD
I remember watching this at the time and how exciting it was. Time has not dimmed it AT ALL. So powerful. Awesome song
“Can you fake it. For just one more show?” Very fitting lyrics indeed.
And the front look he gives after lol
@@MA-es2nd Yep, I believe that was the look of "I hate this." lol
Go-Go girls are usually very cool... not here though...
Juan Pablo Gonzalez Jimenez darcy is so fucking hot

You can tell that james wants to beat the dancer that's near him to death with his guitar
Why is his voice so awesome all the time?
Watching this now, the dancing girls wreck the performance. But if I'd have been there I seriously wouldn't have noticed them. Boss band. All day!
Jimmys drumming is on point
The dancers are a legit mood
DRUMS on fire
Always lol
Jimmy was and still is a beast
perfectly mixed live show. 4:21 Billy Corgan sporting his new Uncle Fester look!! LMAO
That's true, he must have just started shaving his head at this point. He is one of the reasons it became cool to shave if you start losing hair.

what the heck is with the dance girls???
they ate butterflies...radioactive ones
OldSchoolLad James's sisters
D'arcy must have felt pretty awkward during this...
i would have too
@@quag1481 why?
the dancers pointless
4:21 - "With Billy Corgan starting his brand new Uncle Fester look, those are the Smashing Pumpkins!"
What a drumming performance!!!
No computers, no loops, no click track or grid….. all fucking rock.
These dancers are everything against what the pumpkins stand for.
The best band for ever!!!
Chamberlain is a fucking beast. Holy hell son!
they looked fucking great about this time. Great image and all on top form
the dancers + "uncle fester look" - i guess someone at this network had a grudge against them?
Man I remember listening to this when this was broadcast live on the radio
That performance deserved a better audience.
Their absolute prime.
Best live version, when he used to scream it!!!
Never knew this existed thanks 🔥🔥🔥
Bizarre. More shots of the dancers than D'arcy.
the host did Billy dirty with that "sporting the uncle fester look" LOLOL
Proper miss those years.
Never heard the drums like this. I’ve even seen them live. This was fun.

They said the same in the 1970s. And 1960s.
It's not for you this time around. That's how it works!
The dancers 🤣🤣🤣
James iha is so good
Amazing drummer
I tought that was Adam jones
Gustovo he plays with A Perfect Circle now so I guess he's a Jones knockoff.
Same
Old, but proud for all of this 😊
"with his new uncle fester look" that was incredibly rude of the host lol
Why is it so hard to show D’Arcy more?
Jesus Christ there was only one guy in the crowd who was into it.
Jimmys drumming is awesome solid playing
do u know how good JC plays those are some wrist skills.
talpajam a monster indeed
Criminally under appreciated drummer - best or top 10 rock drummers of all time (I’d say number one for me)
JC is a drum god. His stuff up to Machina was insane, after that Corgan went off to lalaland.
talpajam horse got him.
raboox9 Chamberlin’s work on Zeitgeist was monstrous as well.
Unreal.Wish I was there
i love the white room interpretational dancers .. !
Wish sp does a tour soon always wanted to see them live.
