    Nice video! I use to send birds to the mainland to race, but in fortunately I moved back with my in-laws and can’t have birds here. I really love this sport and just taking car of the birds. I use to get my birds from CBS🤙🏼

    1st bird well done! 2nd, not so much, lol. The fact that 1st bird has an active nest is the no. 1 reason why he performed so well... Wait... His eagerness to come home is no. 2. The no. 1 reason for his performance is all about the training YOU did! Thats your training bird for next years yb season. Off island training only though. With this info from this bird, we can take a look at refining some things for training next year. I think you have yet to realize how much this can change things. From my perspective, i see some rather good advantages that will benefit your birds alot. Nice work, Sean! Very nice indeed!

    Another brilliant video Sean you are carrying out ground breaking work! I live in a very mountainous area and would never have guessed those birds would have went over the highest point on the Island!
    Keep up the good work mate you are helping to change the shape and future of the sport.

    That tracking technology is marvelous. That second bird is lucky he wasn’t in my loft.
    How many young birds do you have left? You have really taken a massive hit this season, haven’t you? May your fortunes increase in future!

    Hi Sean its great to see you haven't given up! Keep it up the sport is brutal sometimes. I'm so sad about your young birds, but enough of that. Have you ever heard of the widowhood system? Here in Florida a lot of the pigeon racers use it with great results you should really look into it. Also on Belgium and Spain they have used this method for generations. Anyway thanks for the awesome videos as always !hang loose!

    Aloha Shaun, raised birds as a youth and came across your channel last night, I was so amazed how much technology for the pigeon world today. When was this GPS for birds invented? I enjoyed this very well narrated video and will check them all out, gotta be one of the best made bird channels on the tube! new subscriber! great speaker!!

    Dear Sir,
    Aloha.
    I was wondering if SkyLeader software can also provide raw data of position in each waypoint such as longitude and latitude?
    Thanks for your attention
    Cheers

    Race is on ... From Waimea, Hawaii to Oahu ... Weather looks fairly good ... Channels 22-23 mph East direction, visibility 10 miles ... Fast race today .... Good luck speedy returns ... Nice to see GPS tracking ... Birds should fly in a northerly direction of Maui and Molokai. Pickup some wind speed as they cross over Kaiwi channel and enter Oahu. It should be a fast pace race ... Hopefully they'll find their way home ... There flying tougher miles now ... :) Please, send over your final race sheet when you can.

    Its really fascinating seeing the routes they took, the issue/problem that the second bird had in my opinion is fear, when it first landed you can see it decided not to go up in altitude with the rest of the birds, when it had to cross the water it also landed at the shore and at the point it actually decided to cross the water it also flew at a 200m altitude compared to 500 which the other one flew at, so that denotes confidance for the 1st bird, I guess they are more "human" after all, anyways, great vid man, keep it up ! And I have a feeling these 2 birds will do you proud at the end.

    the releasing point seems to be different on the recordings of the two birds. i'm wondering why is that?

    • @alohapigeons9440
      @alohapigeons9440  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's because I set the GPS rings to take a position report every 75 seconds to extend the battery life and also because sometimes the rings will fail to take a position report.

    So exciting Sean! Great information. Too bad the battery on the second bird ran out so soon. Check the droppings and make sure they did not get any respiratory problems. Maybe the second bird could use some treatment. Sometimes excess moisture can make problems.

    Very interesting. I’m definitely thinking about getting the sky leader gps tracking system. Question can you get replacement trackers for the system? Thanks for sharing. In 99 was in Pearl Harbor for 7 months in the service, so I can relate a little we’re the birds are flying.

    • @alohapigeons9440
      @alohapigeons9440  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I think the gps data is great. I would love to see what other people experiences are and if they're surprised by the data. I have not requested replacement trackers yet but I heard they are $50 each. Not sure if that is true. I was really glad to see the birds don't fly around Pearl Harbor. Aloha, Sean

    Hi Sean I just saw the results that you posted. Do you think there’s a possibility that the electronics that you’re placing on the bird might be disrupting his natural navigational skills. I’ve noticed that here in New York since the placement of microwaves a lot of people have been losing birds during training sessions and during races So it’s just food for thought I know you like the idea of tracking the birds which is beautiful I think it’s fabulous that you can do that but I do believe that the microwaves hi disrupting the birds natural ability to do some research on that look up on TH-cam they have been very strong conversations about that till then good luck Phil from New York

      Hard to tell what goes through a young birds mind. Could have been anything making him think crazy for a while.. Curious to see how they finish out the season.

    What is understand is your birds or all pigeons always like to travel around the green areas, probably bird is thinking in case it needs to land it might get food easily...on water it maintains speed and altitude, since option for food and landing is nothing so it want to cross danger zone as early as possible...more focused...altitude give them hope to see any landing point from far away...2nd bird behavior was quite natural or moody..its primary goal was not seams to reach the loft as early as possible...or strength to fly continuous was also questionable..
