Just got the game on switch, and it turns out you don't even need to kill the reaper. You can also unlock him by surviving until the 34th or 35th minute mark.
I did it with a double heal arcana build with clerici (La Borra, Fuwalafuwaloo, Soul Eater, Celestial Dusting, and base Cross)
You can actually outheal the damage Death inflicts for a long time if you can get a floor chicken every 25 or so seconds. If you substitute cross for clock lancet, it would theoretically be almost impossible to fail
The the original method works, it wasn't patched. Havent killed him because of garbage chests.
Disclaimer this doesn’t work anymore. At wave 25 the runetracer keeps breaking out. 6th attempt and from what I’ve read online it’s seems to be the case for many.
Doing it rn I can get to minute 30 but I messed up my run by leveling up a bit before the reaper spawned…. I mean I didn’t move till minute 30, but I think there’s a second after 30 mins that spawns the reaper
I can successfully get to the 30 minute mark and grab red gem for max level. So that part works, though some runs I have to waste a revive around minute 28. Tried fighting death 6-7 times now. I just can't seem to get the right combo of upgrades, or the perfect spot to stand, to kill the first reaper before his 2-3 brothers burn through all of my revives. I keep dying at about the 33 minute mark. At least I am getting 10K gold from opening all of the chests...

i keep dying before the 30 minute mark, and because of that i have no chance of getting the ruby before the reaper attacks and i die, i tried 7 or 8 times now still no luck on my 9th and probably final attempt
how that goes?
@@TheGameHuntah i dont know ans its ransom too i have a good spot and i tried several for like 3 or 4 hours but each time i die at 24 minutes or 28 minutes or 29 minuts
I had the position right then my runetracer starts wander off and does its thing after 5 mins
The monster can go up the bookshelf and try hit u from above and the char gains the exp however

After getting the yellow sign and the limit break its instant win against the red reaper.
Can confirm this still works Dec 2023, it hasnt been patched out like some people are saying, it might just take some tries to get the 'sweet spot' of where to stand

I am not sure but i think you can not do that now because enemy can go behind ur back because they can go between bokcase and table on ur right.

the clerici model has changed... cant get it to work, i can get the runetracer in the correct position but it escapes after picking the second "choice"

Edit: Killed using evolved clock lancet and evolved laurel.
How long did it take for you to kill it after it spawned.

I haven't tried using the freeze lance. Maybe this will finally work. I was able to stuck him in the book shelf but for some reason even though the reaper is already stunned locked at a distance and me not moving my controller, he suddenly teleports near me.

the runetracer slipped and unstucked themself, used all my revives from arcana and power up, they patched this i think🙃

its bull... the only way people seem to have done it is by cheating and even doing that is still too much rng and insta death for such a good game the health on that boss is lazy af design really is killing my love for the game spent 3 days trying and its just taking the utter piss EVERY SINGLE TIME i either die and suddenly get rushed from 26 mins onward or its soon as death appears i die right away or as soon as second death comes regardless of placement and having good stuff in my build

@@TheGameHuntah i think you could be right as only recently have i managed to get him done but did it legit which made me think something had changed but don't remember updating it lol. im so glad as id spent sooo damn long wondering wtf was happening on my runs then finally im allowed to continue my journey in peace hahaa
