God, those VHS tapes were unbelievable. It was so cool to put them together on display. Physical media, even in the DVD era, really was an experience with the right franchise.

In my opinion it was their way of cutting corners to not have to do everything.. they even shortened a bunch of fights too which is b.s. in my opinion.. That's like the main selling point of the show for most people/"areas".. And there are plenty of scenes that weren't in the manga (that many would most likely consider "filler") that they kept.. I have no "official" proof of this, and if you disagree with anything I say/have said, and if you like/enjoy it then that's totally cool and totally fine.. To each their own.

As one of the few DBZ diehards that actually loved the Garlic Jr. Saga, I disagree..it was the most interesting of any, because Goku wasn't there to bail the other Z Warriors out. It gave the "rest" of the heroes a chance to shine against one of the very few villains that have ever been granted immortality, which made him one of the most formidable antagonists in the series...and he nearly defeated them, it took Gohan's great power to finally FINALLY finish Garlic Jr off for good.
Not to mention he was the only villain out of all of them to actually get his immortality wish from the dragon which seemed like such a big deal back in the day, garlic jr was bad ass
No, "edited" and "unedited" (tho it actually says "uncut" on the box). That just means visual edits (digital paint to cover nudity, add "root" before "beer", remove guns, remove blood) and cut scenes so it could air on Cartoon Network. However, the dialog was still very much censord on either version (same as it is on the modern DVDs and BDs). Or maybe rather...it's not that it was "censord", but completely made-up dialog since they didn't hire a translator. So what they wrote was already safe for Cartoon Network. It wouldn't make sense to write some-thing they couldn't air after all. But there was no dirty humor (from Muten Rōshi mostly) like in the Japanese version, so it certainly FEELS censord...

There really was nothing quite as awesome as getting the entire set of a saga to have the complete image. And nothing more of a gut punch when you got one from either the censored or uncensored when you had they other type. Image ruined
Back when it was vhs now its all random DVD blu rays remasters. Why can't they just reanimate the entire series? Probably soon a 4k edition knowing how funimation is.

Back when funimation was the king of dubbing. Ever since Kai there dubbing has been so hammy and forced and takes me out of the immersion :( It’s not a nostalgia thing even kids I babysit agree.

I disagree hard. Their Dragon Ball dubs have only gotten better as they went on. Kais VA performances outclasses the Z dub by a LOT
