  • The story of this prop is... A Coaxium containment unit which I am using as a beverage cooler in my shop. I got it at a Rebel Military Surplus sale. I think it's seen some action. More pics can be seen here:

    Dang Rob, this looks so great! lOVE the way this turned out! Fantastic!!! Thanks for letting us tag along! By the way, that Paint Metal Paint chip effect you are doing here has rocked my brain!!! I will never uniformly chip my metal the same way again!!!!

    Absolutely fantastic! I gotta make one! Small tip-Ben Nye makes fake dirt, ash, dust for make-up effects if you don't want to use real dirt. Damn this is sooo cool!

    I like this one the most out of the 3. The weathering is so convincing. The two toned undercoat and toothpaste trick really makes it look in universe!

    You will probably beat me to it, but I have always loved the lore of the Star Wars ice cream maker in cloud city. Having it legitimized in the Mandalorian show was even better. I decided I would make a Star Wars ice cream maker and have it be my storage chest for all of my light saber parts and elements. Maybe that could be your next challenge

    Just bought our first house and we inherited an additional fridge in the garage. I was planning on making it my "shop fridge" and now I know EXACTLY what to do with it! Star Wars it up! :)

    This is great Rob. Your toothpaste technique is perfect, so often people completely overdo it with no applied method or strategy. I think this may be only the second video where someone was applying toothpaste to their prop and I wasn't sitting here screaming at the computer "STOP STOP TOO MUCH!!"

    Ok, so this challenge was awesome. Seen two so far (smugglers room & yours); both are amazing. I love that you give your prop such a back story and thought to how it fits in the SW universe. The novel paint chipping is fantastic. I wonder if those chemical paint rust products would be another level to add with all its bubbled up rust look...or just a bit to much. Either way , loved the episode and feel inspired to think of such things and hopefully put to the test in a future build.

    Great build. Will try the toothpaste technique on. My next build. Love the makeup pixel strip light. Hopefully you are using an arduino to run the RGB LED’s. If so can I get a link to the sketch (code)?

      Sorry no. I used some lightsaber parts (heatsink, optics can) You can get things like that at www.thecustomsabershop.com. The tube is 7/8" thin wall blade tube, and the coaxium model file is available on my website - you can print it in resin at shapeways...

    Where do u find your led buttons?

    • @MadcowGenesis
      @MadcowGenesis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The white squares are lazer cut and lit from behind. The yellow ones are just 5mm LEDs with caps. None of these function as buttons - just for looks.
