Matt, I really appreciate the time and effort you take for the interior shots and exterior. It’s the small details that I appreciate and you definitely highlight them. From showing the pedals to the extended shots of the cluster, seats and exterior. Stay true.
These are still at a good price. List of advantages over newer gt3s: Price Last metzger engine (991 is based off carerra s engine) Last of hyd steering More raw overall experience Less weight Manual trans Styling is more classic 911 comapred to 991 and 992
One of the best cars ever made! Build them like bank vaults drive and shift like a dream it is an instant classic and symphony of usable power and pinpoint handling... on true backroads not many better!! Love this car!
This car is amazing! I have a 1999 996 and I love driving it. It will rev to 7K but doesn't sound nearly as glorious as this GT3. A 997.2 would be my next attainable dream car.
Naturally aspirated high revving engines for the win! I'd rather sacrifice low end torque for the theatrical experience high revving engines give. A 9000rpm wingless GT3 Touring in either PTS oakgreen metallic, British Racing Green or Irish Green might be a bit of you Matt 😉Engines from Porsche GT Cars, BMW ///M Cars, S2000s, NSXs, Shelby GT350s, Mazda ND2 MX-5s, Audi B7 RS4s etc are unfortunately getting fewer and fewer.
This is exactly the videos I miss old car new car reviews I wanna see the fun you can have if you bought something old or even if you do reviews on common sedans trucks that people can afford that are like 3-8 years old appreciate the video keep up the hard work ! 💪🏽
I have been following you since the channel name was WRXFAN. It is nice that you drive Porsche. My daily drive is a 500 horsepower Porsche Cayenne Turbo. These Porsches are fun to drive. Good job Matt
Two six cylinder engines that have an incredible sound and performance.....BMW inline 6 and the Porsche flat 6. V6 engines to me don’t have a great sound with an odd number of cylinders. There’s something about a flat 6 running to redline....indescribable. I can see where the giddiness comes from. If I wasn’t into Mustangs, Porsche would be it. I’m glad that the Cayman will be back to a flat 6 offering again....that is the inherent character of these cars. Great review as always Matt...nice to see you’re on the approach to 500k subs. Hard work and perseverance it the key. You’ll get there.
Cool Review! Great Mods on the car too. - Very entertaining to watch. It would be cool to have some affordable used Sportscars in the Reviews in the future. Some nice basic 911 with a manual, a Boxster S, 350Z or 370Z, older Lotus Elise, Esprit, R8 V8, GT 86, Donkervoort (when it's available over there), Mazda MX5, Pontiac Solstice Roadster, old Tesla Roadster, SLK AMG old, etc. - For someone who wants something cheap to play for track and daily fun if wanted.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! I've already reviewed a few of those cars (standard 911, 350Z, 370Z, GT 86, MX5). But I'd definitely like to review the rest someday.
@@MattMaranMotoring Currently trying to talk my friend out of his 944 Turbo. It standing around for 2 years and moving from corner to corner. I just need to get him a bit more down with the price, so I can do basic maintenance and some tires plus suspension. Great handling car and if it works out even a bit under 10K with mods.
I dont think reving out a flat six could ever get repetitive Matt! It sounds like an angry trumpet mixed with a rocket ship, I'd wanna let it rip as much as I could too!
If you're looking for the best looking Porsche with the best sound, GT3 is it. If you're looking for low end torque that throws you back, this isn't it. Now Turbo S with variable vane turbo geometry.... 2.6 0 to 60 ;) That's the stuff. Cant beat that awd launch that smokes everything you'll find on the road in your town.
Good eye! For some reason I forgot to film the cupholders in this car, but since the Cayman cupholders are nearly identical, I was able to re-use that footage from my old Cayman S review.
Ahh simplicity at it's best ... naturally aspirated , manual transmission , old school braking system ...minimal electronics .....Old School is the best school ...Where has the time gone !!!
There are faster cars, there are better handling cars, there are more comfortable cars. There are cars that look flashier. But revving a flat 6 to nearly 9000 RPM never gets old. I've never driven the 997 GT3 but I've driven the 3.8 and 4.0 991 generation GT3s and what absolute bonkers fun.
He already did it, so why should I do it? I don't have the space, time or interest for a project car unfortunately. I know that's the popular trend these days.
@@MattMaranMotoring he mentions u whenever he talks about how he first got into youtube and bought a brz cause of u and refers to u when he hits boost and says "ooo weee what a zippy little thing" u shuld call him up cause hes a shy boy
If u purchased one new for around 120k and put around 20k miles, itd only depreciate to 100k. $20k lost over a span of 13 years is actually insane. Its an asset, as long you can afford insurance and maintenance costs you are closer to affording it than u think.
Oh wow Matt I’m surprised it’s a stick and not the PDK😳 what cracks me up is it lower p.m. on this engine sounds exactly like my 3.6 R Legacy, I just wish there was an exhaust that made my Subaru sound like a Porsche but unfortunately I think the issue is the engines in front and the exhaust system is just too long versus having the engine in the back and having a short exhaust out?
Sorry I wasn't able to join for a Premiere this week! I'm hoping to do one again next week! Enjoy the video! :)
can you buy another 86 and wide body it and boost it like tj hunt? get the camber too.
I enjoyed it a lot. Seeing you smile like you did when revving this engine to redline was worth it. Hope to drive one of these one day. (:
ricky v no the 86 is better.
@@user-bg4qv3jp7e You know. I'll have to regress my statement now. Thank you. (:
ricky v go buy an 86 and be an 86 brother. #cambergang

well?? how much? if we combine our salaries, can we afford 1 of these??
They are starting to get reasonable in price. I would do my homework before buying one though.

I love that the gt3 still comes optional with a manual. Anyone looking for pdk should just get the rs.
GT3 with a manual must be pretty close to driving heaven
He changed his channel name to Matt Maran Motoring from WRXfan when he drove a manual gt3.

Awesome. Fantastic reactions and enthusiasm. Glad you got to drive this, Matt.
Same redline as our new (to us) 2011 Supercharged E90 BMW M3. Can confirm, that RPM number is glorious no matter what car it is!
Very true! I loved the E90 M3 I reviewed a long time ago! Thanks for stopping by!

Matt Maran Motoring U can widebody ur bullit mustang and put air lift suspension so Redline reviews can be like “Wow sick ride bro” and whatnot

GT3, mainly because it has shorter gearing.

Miata and Porsche don't belong in the same sentence.
I would so get a Porsche, but they’re just so unreliable..
Scheduled maintenance can be pricey to American counterparts, but they are definitely reliable for what they are.
