This is one of the most horrific films I've ever seen: child abduction, child murder, ghost children, having your eyes gorged out, sewn up and replaced with buttons, your soul being eaten. And a terrifying spider mother, without mentioning the other stuff. Truly a thing made of nightmares. I've often wondered what an adult adaptation of this would be like. Chilling!
I watched this with my sisters and Dad one night when I was 10. Needless to say I was completely lost the whole time and thought it was the wells fault. And, I was also BAWLING. What sucks is that I had just gotten OBSESSED with Lalaloopsys and after this movie, for 3 years I wouldn't even walk down the same AISLE as those dolls.
For the people who didn't notice, there are two tiny details at the ending: When Coraline and Wybie where fighting the Other Mother's hand, there were lots of tiny details: There was a red mark around Coraline's neck where she had been strangled with the string on the key. Wybie ripped his gloves, and in the party, not many people noticed there were plasters wrapped around the rips.
Dude, i used to live in a house probably about 5 years ago which had 2-3 tiny doors but were sealed. And i had seen Coraline by then and was kinda creeped out by it but my mom just joked about it. We moved out because my sister kept complaining that she didn't like the house so much we moved into one in the centre of a village. I guess i didn't mind that house but, yeah, it was creepy... And my sis never mentioned that house to me ever.
Hands down, Coraline HAS to be one of my favorite Halloween movies. I still don't get how this isn't really popular! It's a twisting movie indeed. I'm in love with this ending song too.
*Coraline is truly a masterpiece of stop-motion animation. Watching this movie, I didn't scream out of fear, but there was fear. Yes, it was huge! This fear will not make you scream, but it will live in you. He will be inside, all-consuming, truly omnipotent. You will sit still and feel it spreading all over your body, and you will not be able to stop it. No way. If you want to read Neil Gaiman's book "Coraline", which is also a masterpiece, be sure to include the soundtrack from the movie "Coraline". Very rarely do I say this and even rarer is it actually the case, however I can truly say that the film of Coraline isn't only better than the original book but vastly superior. I read the book long before the film came out and while it was a wild ride, creepy and truly a page turner, the film completely blew it away. Henry Selick brought this world alive in a way only he could. Laika pictures really proved themselves with this film. They changed a bit of the narrative but I loved the changed, the world is so imaginative, dark and eerie but most of all what really draws you in is this films amazing experimental soundtrack. I'll truly never forget it.
Is it weird that when I was younger, I would always have this movie on while going to sleep? I haven't watched the movie for about 6 years until today and I still remember this song, I love it so much xD
I must admit. Of all of the Tunes in this movie this is by far the best and yet the creepiest. And specially when it is translated in English. A unique movie in its own right with an extremely unique soundtrack.
i used to have this movie on a dvd, and the opening screen had this song on loop, with ghosts (i think) flying around. dawg i sat at the play button forever just because i really liked the song
+izzysparkleheart It's actually a nonsensical language inspired by languages such as french and swiss and others. It's basically gibberish that sounds enticing.
Yeah yeah, I realize how I was wrong looking back on that, although you're also wrong, animation is not a type of movie, it's a type of media in general, as it could be a webseries, a youtube animation, a cartoon, a gif, etc.
It is mind-blowing. You'll never look at things the same way again after seeing it. I believe that some of the little kids in the theatre where I saw it were scarred for life. ...Oh, and it was good.
Coraline is my favorite movie ever ! I don't why lots of people didn't know this film, it deserves better, to me it's totally a piece of art. I've seen this movie at the cinema when I was little I think 6, and I was not scared, but I just loved it counter to all the little girls of my age who detested this movie because it traumatized them! I find myself in Coraline, my and her would be such good friends, but unfortunaly she does'nt exist ...
@@gyros69420 I admittedly don't think I was very freaked out. Coraline is an incredible film!! Honestly, I'm 14 and despite watching more films that are more suited to my age group now this film will still be one of my favourites if not my favourite. The visuals, the music, the story, the characters. It's all genius. I've never watched another film like it. I see a lot of people on TH-cam trying to explain Coraline by doing theories and stuff but in my opinion, it's the sort of film that shouldn't be explained and left to interpretation. That way, it becomes more mysterious
For clarification; the opening credit song where the witch makes the doll is the one sung in gibberish. This end credit song is actually spoken in French, or in an actual language.
And mine shows how amused I was at your post! You actually managed to amuse me!! Take that as a compliment because no one has EVER amused me until now!

@@wholesomebunny5085 no? It’s a made up language made by the creators himself he even confirms it in an interview

Ahh memories. I always found it funny. As a little girl I remember other girls playing with their barbies and watching princess movies, while I was always that one strange kid that loved Tim Burton and played with puppets. I remember my mother playing this song for me to help me sleep. I never really figured out why people were so terrified of Coraline. There's much, much worse out there. This movie was my passion.

Coraline: I can't believe it... You and Dad get paid to write about... plants and you hate dirt!

I used to play this movie hour after hour for an entire summer until my mom banned me from watching it but then I found it again a couple years later and it’s still my favorite movie 😂

That odd feeling where you want a sequel or another film set in the same world of Coraline but at the same time you don't.
Is it weird that when I was younger, I would always have this movie on while going to sleep? I haven't watched the movie for about 6 years until today and I still remember this song, I love it so much xD

@@phancoom1087 animation entails a form of movie metia not described as live action, this is stop-motion. a form of animation. smh my head
I used to be obsessed with this film when I was young. That horror obsession lingers a little bit now that I'm 18.
I'm 23 and this movie freaked me out as a kid lmao, is a great film though
@@gyros69420 I admittedly don't think I was very freaked out. It was probably around the time I was still in my horror phase, and at the time I first heard of Coraline at some kind of exhibition at Universal Studios Hollywood. The perfect credits soundtrack doesn't exi-
Coraline is an incredible film!!
I think this song is about Twinkies.

Whatever you say.
