There are two things absent about Hallstatt here, as well as other promotional videos, from when I was there in the early 1990s. It’s actually a gated community. You need to have a card key to open the gate to drive into the town and park. Otherwise, park outside town somewhere and take a shuttle in to sightsee. This really cuts down on traffic congestion. We drove into a tunnel above Hallstatt and parked there. There was a long stairway leading down to the town, parallel to a waterfall that actual cut through the town to feed the lake. Don’t think I saw the waterfall in this video, either. We booked a B&B and got a temporary card key for the length of our stay. We got the car and the B&B also had a convenient parking slot.
