This was my first amp I ever owned. The only amps I had played through before were roland cube 30s in the school band, initially I wasn't overly amazed with the sound but as time went on I grew to appreciate the simplicity and (surprising) range of tones in this thing. I still own and use it occasionally despite having much more expensive and hi-fi sounding amps at my disposal
Loved the video. I found one at a local shop for around $200 and you were spot on! This things rocks! Sounds great with my Jag, my LP and really aewsome with my '64 Casino!
I've had this as my living room amp for nearly a decade and STILL loving it's fun & tasty tones❤😎. Takes pedals like a champ & I agree 100% that the tone should be dimed. It's even better through a 12" cab. The VERY BEST PART is that I got it for $175 (as advertised😲😍) because it wasn't clean enough for the church it was being played in.
I had to rewatch! They kinda did really! I guess there's something to be said about physiological noise impacting the expression. Those glasses are like an uncomfortable sweater. The second part was tidier. Lol
is ok to use it with some gadgets? I'm using a simple gadget GTX Zoom. I notice whenever i use GTX Zoom with VOX AC4tv the tone is just not right i mean it's like grounded
I would say it should be OK but I've had issues before with creating a lot of texture on a small amp (as have you) and I find that any heavy effect and the amp kind of just runs out of room and starts lacking clarity.
@@breilly66 Thank you very much I was between this and the av30 but I loved this one, its crisp and vintage sound but the only thing that bothered me was the pedals, I only thought about not so heavy analog ones
It doesn't have an effects loop, so a reverb pedal would sound bad, because it would be before the gain, right? (I have two cats. They try to destroy everything, like Jamieson tried to turn over your TV.) 🙂
Lol, they keep it interesting don't they? Yea it's a drag the amp doesn't have a few more creature comforts but as long as it isn't absolutely soaked a good pedal ahead would be fine. Not the Keeley Caverns tho. That pedal is a moody pain with any gain before ot after the signal.
I had this amp 9 years ago and paired it with a Danelectro Spring King. No issues with it using an external reverb pedal or tank. I loved it so much after I sold it that I repurchased the amp.

Absolutely. And same. At first I couldn't get this guy to cooperate. But once they're dialed..... killer little amps.

Hell yea! This thing with a Casino through it? Perfect

Thats hilarious because ive been using one at our church for close to 10 years now. Its awesome!
It's basically a Fender Champ 5f1 circuit with an EL84 instead of a 6V6
The AC4 TV sounds absolutely killer miked up. I really like running it miked at a 1/4 watt. It’s can produce a Brian May level saturated sound.
Outstanding review thank you!
My pleasure!
Good playing. Love the jaguar
Great video, gnarly tone, history lesson, and cat content. Great job!
Thank you Bill! Greatly appreciated 🙏
Those glasses really changed the tone... haha

great descriptions "dysfunctional tone". lol. Enjoyable vid!
Idk how I missed this video.
Had a vox ac15c1 recently and I regret letting it go. This AC4TV might be the salve I need to ease that sting of loss.
Yeeessss.... seriously. This thing is punchy little shit!

one question can i connect pedals to this amp? For example the pedalboard that sells vox or for example a reverb or an overdrive?
Totally. Handles pedals well. No effects loop but just use them in the line.

You can do it. Just have to turn down the reverb when you crank the volume/gain. I use a EH Holy Grail and it sounds great.
@@tobydog207 Thanks. I'll do it!
@@danbaron2561 I think it sounds soooo much better with a bit of reverb. Too dry for me w/o it.

Do you happen to know what years the ac4tv were made?
According to Vox, they were manufactured between 09 and 19. All out of Vietnam.
@@breilly66 Thanks! 😃👍
Yessir!
Best video on this Amp I’ve seen…
Trying to get one for $80 …
Gonna look at it tomorrow. Hope it is legit
