- This was a very nice clock that needed extra deep cleaning, so I took the case apart and tried new things to get the white fog off the black paint or plastic of that time. The next video will show the movement getting broke down and a couple of bushings replaced.

Seth is a great channel with history behind the clocks and watches. He may not work on the clocks, but is like a History Channel. He also goes to clock meets and interviews the different Booths there to learn even more about the clocks.

Here I do most of my work on clocks. Mainly cuckoo clocks, yet I am always looking for the unusual and eye catching clocks. Some of the clocks I get into are ones that need saved from the dump. They fell off the wall from not securing the clock to the wall using the stud behind the sheetrock. Some of the clocks were laid to rest out in the garage or barn and I except the challenge of getting them back together again.
A well loved clock at one time is one that has a lot of wear and you find old bushings that might need to be replaced.

Another great video Mike. When I adjust the crutch I do it the same way that I do with cuckoo clocks. First two fingers holding the crutch and the thumb bending it. Also I open the foot. Which allows the extra momentum. Just like with cuckoo clocks when it stops if the wire is touching the left side of the foot then you would want to bend it so the foot goes to the left and vice versa. Bending the washers that are in front of the minute hand helps so you dont have to put a bunch on. Convex washers. Very cool laminate of some sort to give it the marble look. With watch crystals you could use tooth paste to clean them up and get rid of the scratches. I think that you should try it. Case looks a heck of a lot better. Great job. Thanks for the shout out. This all is an experiment to get the clock looking the best it can. I will have to try the toothpaste thing on the glass. I have had some glass that was etched on something that I never could get them looking nice again, so thanks for the tip. Keep your eye out for one, but get ready to pay a high price for one. Not sure why they cost so much. Maybe, because it has the pillars, a bell for the 1/2 hour and a gong to count the hour.
