It's always the 4 - 11 yr old youtube videos with the most gems. Thank you so much for this clear explanation. I understood so much. The takeaway that is lifechanging to me is that there are different types of personas for different purposes. Getting into UXD I thought all personas are like market research personas. But I think otherwise now. This will make me dig deeper on anything else I learn going forward. Thanks again!

Give it a few years AI would be good for making personas. AI in the future should be able to talk to countless users and talk to the developers as if it's the average user.
Good video on the subject of design personas. But ... As much as I agree that it's good to focus back on the humans, I see a problem in designing systems only for a small number of very concrete personas. I think a lot of other personas' needs might be left out. No wonder I always get the feeling the systems I encounter are not designed for me!! :/ I dearly hope that personas is not the only tool designers use to get a perspective on what a system needs to provide.
It's not the only one 😁 personas are usually more appropriate when specific lifestyles and values are relevant for the system otherwise designers might turn to "need groups" instead where different types of people might have the same specific need in a particular instant. But keep in mind that it is impossible for designers/engineers to design for EVERYONE and so boundaries are going to have to be set in any project

Why to quote stalin about "just statistics" of famine, which he committed? For you it's appropriate when for Ukrainians and Kazakhs it's cynical because stalin order killed our relatives. It's like quoting hitler on "one death in gas camera it's a tragedy, but millions it's just statistics", disgusting indifference 🤮
Thank you for your feedback, and sorry for making you feel bad because of that example in our video. We understand and deeply empathize with the immense pain and suffering experienced by Ukrainians and Kazakhs due to the actions and policies of Stalin during that dark period of history. Quoting individuals responsible for such atrocities can indeed be deeply hurtful and offensive, given the profound impact on families and entire communities. We sincerely apologize for the example being inappropriate or offensive. We already removed this piece from the video, thank you for pointing to it again! Let us work together to foster understanding, empathy, and compassion, acknowledging the unique and painful histories that different communities have endured. 🙏💔 Just in case you want to learn more about Personas, we also have "Personas - A Simple Introduction" article in our always-updated UX / UI design glossary at ixdf.io/personas-a-simple-introduction-yt-cm
Are you really quoting Stalin in this or did I see things that don't exist? I mean, really? A great video but quoting Stalin is really an awful, terrible thing. He was a mass murderer and chatting about him in this way is simply sickening.

Agree 100%!!! Maybe Stalin was an UX/UI Designer...
I mean quotes aren’t evil in themselves
It’s a quote. Many other medias have used Stalin quotes.
