The Jews have had this Scripture for so many years and from the time it was originally written to the completion of the Talmud, through Maimonides etc they have not ever worshipped anyone other than the Father Almighty or YHWH. We don’t know anything about God outside the Bible but I imagine that if anyone other than God existed they didn’t understand what it was to be Him so it didn’t make sense for Him to talk to anyone else. I imagine no one else understood His yearnings; no one understood what He could do and most importantly no one could be in His presence without completely evaporating from the glorious light that beamed forth from Him. He had probably long ago stopped looking for companionship as everyone he approached just evaporated. I can see how one day while He was contemplating how happy he could make other beings if they could only continue to exist in His presence, He got so excited He found himself speaking out loud to himself and in an instant the words he spoke had a pleasant sound to them, a soft gentle soothing timbre, and before He knew it he found himself having a conversation with His own voice. Suddenly he realized he wasn’t even consciously speaking but the voice just spoke for Him, voicing His thoughts and desires and He realized that His voice had it’s own personality. It was much more exuberant than he thought of himself as being: more upbeat and enthusiastic. Simultaneously He sensed a new presence: a bond, a relationship with His own voice that energized both Himself and His voice. The Three of them went on and on enjoying the mere presence and discovery of each other: God, His Voice and their empowering and joyful Relationship. After eons or so of joyful fellowship God decided this was too good not to share: that others should be able to enjoy the pure ecstacy of fellowship. The Voice spoke into existence Angels to play music and celebrate their relationship. The Relationship created them with the ability to be in God’s presence without evaporating by making them from the glorious light that beamed forth from God. And the band played on for more eons in the joy of continued fellowship. However, eventually the leader of the band thought he wasn’t getting enough attention. After all the worship he led was perfect. Every note was perfect; every beat was perfect. Of all the angels he alone knew when to cue in every separate member of the band and there were untold millions of them. Finally he decided he deserved to be praised and thanked for his work just as much as if not more than God deserved to be praised and thanked for His. That didn’t go over well and the leader of the band and some of his first chairs were exiled to a far region of the space that had been created by the energy emanating from the pure joy of the Relationship between God and His Voice. A space that was continuously expanding. A space that was outside of God but enveloped by and filled with His Glory, Power and Presence. Eventually. God, his Voice and their Relationship realized they needed more fellowship but they knew if God spoke out loud again it would create another expanding space that would eventually collide with the first space thus destroying both. So they decided to proceed with an alternate plan.
Start reading at Isaiah 1 then go AT LEAST till Isaiah 14. Then you will see the woman being spoken of giving birth was there and was a sign Isaiah mentioned dealing with events happening right then. It literally talks about it, you just have to read it.

You are correct, Angles isn't made in the image of God I don't know where people get that from because it isn't biblical, so God must be talking about Jesus and the Holy spirit which is the trinity.

I get that ppl are different being in the image of god, but the breath of life thing doesn't make sense to me. In the story of Noah, it says that the animals also have the breath of life.
"Our" Why? God speaks referring to His 3 Divine Persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God's image is ONLY in our soul. Not our body. First created man is Adam ('adam in the collective sense) who has been given by the grace of God the use of the lands (' adamah) where man's body is to return. There is one God, who communicated to man His 3 divine persons. This is the only way to pray to God in profound worship.

I though the Lord God rose up and created Adam out of the clay of the earth before he created the animals in the garden and brought them to Adam so he could name them then put Adam under a deep sleep and made Eve out of his rib? God said let us create man in our image on the 6th day after all the animals and plants where created and he created Male and Female at the same time. In one case you have God creating the animals and plants before Adam/Male/Female and in the other case you have The Lord creating Adam out of the Dust, then creating the plants and then the animals and then after realizing there was no one for him he made Eve out of his rib. Sounds like two different creations, as if one was made and one was formed, one was made in the Image of God and the other was formed of the dust of the Earth. Maybe when God said let their be Light and separated it from the darkness and said Let us make man in our image, the "our" would refer to God and the Light. Maybe that's why we have children of God, children of Light and children of darkness cause the children of God are Gods children, the children of light are the Father/lights children and the children of darkness would be that of the Wicked one or Father/Satan? I don't know but its something I see and am trying to understand.
God was certainly not speaking about/to the angels lol. Angels certainly don’t create anything. This is not a slight against Rabbi Singer. He is a smart man and well educated on the doctrine of the Bible, both New Testament and Old Testament, but he is simply wrong here.
The Gospel of John says "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God". The Word is Jesus Christ. That is what he was known as before his human incarnation. Through him all things were made. So you have God the Father, The Word of God (Jesus) and God's Holy Spirit. There are 3 persons but God is one (meaning unified in thought, spirit etc.). So the "us" refers to these 3 personages of God.

This is an interesting perspective. I had considered the us as HaShem speaking to the Torah and the Temple. Torah is eternal and we know the pattern Moses saw in Shamayim. The only trinity that I believe in is HaShem Torah and the Temple.

Means god is talking to the angels. 2) The Lord summons The created world, and together they create man. 3) We are made from created matter and at the same time from the spirit of the Lord. 4) We have free will, angels don't. 5) Angels as well as humans are in a sense a mirror of God. 6) supposedly there is a contradiction between Genesis 1 and John 1. Because on John 1 it says Jesus is the Creator if everything but in Genesis jesus would only be entering the stage at verse 26, instead of the beginning. ----- Now here are my objections: 1) I don't know of any Christian who believes God was talking to the angels. This would imply Christians believe that angels were involved in the creation process. But Christians and Jews alike believe in one Creator. Not many creators.... 2) though the idea of the Lord summoning all the created world, the Earth and animals together, sounds great, it does contradict once again the idea of the one Creator. And it also contradicts verse 27 that says God created Adam. Singer is describing this like a symphony.... Well Tolkien, in the Silmarillion also described something like that. Symphony ≈ creation. I wonder if Singer copied that from Tolkien.... 3) Singer says humans are created from matter and from the same substance as angels. Singer says we humans have free will. Where did we get that from? According to him the angels don't have free will, and they are made of this "divine spark". The animals don't have free will, and they are made of matter. Where did we get our free will from? 4) angels don't have free will? Then how did Satan come into being? Did God creat Satan as Satan? Did God ordained for the angel to become Satan? 5) As far as I know modern Jews understand the Spirit of God as some sort of divine power or as Singer says, divine spark. And so angels as well as humans are in a sense a mirror of God. "If you look at the face of another human you in some way are looking at the reflection of Hashem". Sorry how did you get to this point? If the Spirit of God were believed as a person in judaism then yes, I could understand what you are saying. But since that is not the case at best you could say "if you look at the face of another human being, you see the power for Hashem but not a reflection of Hashem. 6) Since we Christians believe in the complex unity of God it is no big deal that Genesis doesn't begin with the word Jesus. As we believe in the Trinity, the Father is the initiator. He is the head of the house. But the actual creation is done by the Son. Already in Gen 1:2 it says "the Spirit of God was hovering above the water". Now the Jew understands this as the power of God hovering over the water, but the Christian understands it as the first sign of the complex unity of God, as the 3rd person of the Trinity is clearly shown to be part of the creation process. Btw I think the verse is pretty clear what "in our image" means. Because it says man is to dominate the Earth. We are to imitate God. God dominates the universe, so we dominate in the small scale, the Earth.

Do not follow the statement about angels having no free will. The 200 or so angels rebelled against Yahweh and left their spiritual estate to marry the beautiful women of earth. That required a rebellious effort of free will. Satan and a third of the angels in Heaven will rebel against Yahweh which will also require some degree of free will. Leads me to believe that possibly some angels ( depending on their purpose or status level of creation ) but certainly not all angels had no free will. Just a thought.
He doesn't. The Serpent in Genesis is never called Satan. It is Nahash or serpent. If the Torah meant it was Satan, then it would blatantly state it. For instance Genesis 18 talks of 3 men. Constantly refers to them as 3 men. Yet in Genesis 19 the Torah openly calls them "Angels". Let me ask you this...people in christian lore can become possessed by Demons. Why then are the demons never to blame? Why do we imprison people for committing murder even if they claim demons made them do it? The reality is that all of that is falsehood. G-D in the Torah tells us that WE have free will to choose. He says nothing about "Unless demons possess us". That should prove something right there. Another point is that the person that does something sinful, they are to blame entirely...every single time all throughout Tanakh (Old Testament). There is the literal understanding of Genesis 3 and there's the metaphorical. The Nahash(Serpent) in the metaphorical teaching is simply the very thing you have inside you today that lures you toward sinful ways. It represents the Evil Inclination and before Adam and Chava ate of the fruit, the Evil inclination was always External...it was External things drawing them to commit sin. After eating the Fruit, it changed to be internal.

Let us make man in our image.. in the image of God He made them, male and female (not image of God and angels, also God isn't just male but both male and female. The word is as easy as reading it. By your logic, humans wouldn't have been "created" either since being made in the image of God means to be able to create. If humans can bear the image of God and still be creatures, then the same holds for angels.

Once upon a time in a place that is beyond our understanding God lived a quiet life just speaking to himself and it was good. We don’t know anything about God outside the Bible but I imagine that if anyone other than God existed they didn’t understand what it was to be Him so it didn’t make sense for Him to talk to anyone else. I imagine no one else understood His yearnings; no one understood what He could do and most importantly no one could be in His presence without completely evaporating from the glorious light that beamed forth from Him. He had probably long ago stopped looking for companionship as everyone he approached just evaporated. I can see how one day while He was contemplating how happy he could make other beings if they could only continue to exist in His presence, He got so excited He found himself speaking out loud to himself and in an instant the words he spoke had a pleasant sound to them, a soft gentle soothing timbre, and before He knew it he found himself having a conversation with His own voice. Suddenly he realized he wasn’t even consciously speaking but the voice just spoke for Him, voicing His thoughts and desires and He realized that His voice had it’s own personality. It was much more exuberant than he thought of himself as being: more upbeat and enthusiastic. Simultaneously He sensed a new presence: a bond, a relationship with His own voice that energized both Himself and His voice. The Three of them went on and on enjoying the mere presence and discovery of each other: God, His Voice and their empowering and joyful Relationship.
After eons or so of joyful fellowship God decided this was too good not to share: that others should be able to enjoy the pure ecstacy of fellowship. The Voice spoke into existence Angels to play music and celebrate their relationship. The Relationship created them with the ability to be in God’s presence without evaporating by making them from the glorious light that beamed forth from God. And the band played on for more eons in the joy of continued fellowship. However, eventually the leader of the band thought he wasn’t getting enough attention. After all the worship he led was perfect. Every note was perfect; every beat was perfect. Of all the angels he alone knew when to cue in every separate member of the band and there were untold millions of them. Finally he decided he deserved to be praised and thanked for his work just as much as if not more than God deserved to be praised and thanked for His. That didn’t go over well and the leader of the band and some of his first chairs were exiled to a far region of the space that had been created by the energy emanating from the pure joy of the Relationship between God and His Voice. A space that was continuously expanding. A space that was outside of God but enveloped by and filled with His Glory, Power and Presence.
Eventually. God, his Voice and their Relationship realized they needed more fellowship but they knew if God spoke out loud again it would create another expanding space that would eventually collide with the first space thus destroying both. So they decided to proceed with an alternate plan.

In one case you have God creating the animals and plants before Adam/Male/Female and in the other case you have The Lord creating Adam out of the Dust, then creating the plants and then the animals and then after realizing there was no one for him he made Eve out of his rib. Sounds like two different creations, as if one was made and one was formed, one was made in the Image of God and the other was formed of the dust of the Earth. Maybe when God said let their be Light and separated it from the darkness and said Let us make man in our image, the "our" would refer to God and the Light. Maybe that's why we have children of God, children of Light and children of darkness cause the children of God are Gods children, the children of light are the Father/lights children and the children of darkness would be that of the Wicked one or Father/Satan? So the "us" refers to these 3 personages of God.

This is an interesting perspective. I had considered the us as HaShem speaking to the Torah and the Temple. Torah is eternal and we know the pattern Moses saw in Shamayim. The only trinity that I believe in is HaShem Torah and the Temple.
The only problem is that there is no free will but it feels like there is. The same with god.

So if I get Singers points right it's this:
1) Christians think the "Us" in "let us create..." Means god is talking to the angels.
2) The Lord summons The created world, and together they create man.
3) We are made from created matter and at the same time from the spirit of the Lord.
4) We have free will, angels don't.
5) Angels as well as humans are in a sense a mirror of God.
6) supposedly there is a contradiction between Genesis 1 and John 1. Because on John 1 it says Jesus is the Creator if everything but in Genesis jesus would only be entering the stage at verse 26, instead of the beginning.

Now here are my objections:
1) I don't know of any Christian who believes God was talking to the angels. This would imply Christians believe that angels were involved in the creation process. But Christians and Jews alike believe in one Creator. Not many creators....
2) though the idea of the Lord summoning all the created world, the Earth and animals together, sounds great, it does contradict once again the idea of the one Creator. And it also contradicts verse 27 that says God created Adam.
Singer is describing this like a symphony.... Well Tolkien, in the Silmarillion also described something like that. Symphony ≈ creation. I wonder if Singer copied that from Tolkien....
3) Singer says humans are created from matter and from the same substance as angels. Singer says we humans have free will. Where did we get that from? According to him the angels don't have free will, and they are made of this "divine spark". The animals don't have free will, and they are made of matter. Where did we get our free will from?
4) angels don't have free will? Then how did Satan come into being? Did God creat Satan as Satan? Did God ordained for the angel to become Satan?
5) As far as I know modern Jews understand the Spirit of God as some sort of divine power or as Singer says, divine spark. And so angels as well as humans are in a sense a mirror of God. "If you look at the face of another human you in some way are looking at the reflection of Hashem".
Sorry how did you get to this point? If the Spirit of God were believed as a person in judaism then yes, I could understand what you are saying. But since that is not the case at best you could say "if you look at the face of another human being, you see the power for Hashem but not a reflection of Hashem.
6) Since we Christians believe in the complex unity of God it is no big deal that Genesis doesn't begin with the word Jesus. As we believe in the Trinity, the Father is the initiator. He is the head of the house. But the actual creation is done by the Son. Already in Gen 1:2 it says "the Spirit of God was hovering above the water". Now the Jew understands this as the power of God hovering over the water, but the Christian understands it as the first sign of the complex unity of God, as the 3rd person of the Trinity is clearly shown to be part of the creation process.
Btw I think the verse is pretty clear what "in our image" means. Because it says man is to dominate the Earth. We are to imitate God. God dominates the universe, so we dominate in the small scale, the Earth.

Do not follow the statement about angels having no free will. The 200 or so angels rebelled against Yahweh and left their spiritual estate to marry the beautiful women of earth. That required a rebellious effort of free will. Satan and a third of the angels in Heaven will rebel against Yahweh which will also require some degree of free will. Leads me to believe that possibly some angels ( depending on their purpose or status level of creation ) but certainly not all angels had no free will. Just a thought.

He doesn't. The Serpent in Genesis is never called Satan. It is Nahash or serpent. If the Torah meant it was Satan, then it would blatantly state it. For instance Genesis 18 talks of 3 men. Constantly refers to them as 3 men. Yet in Genesis 19 the Torah openly calls them "Angels".
Let me ask you this...people in christian lore can become possessed by Demons. Why then are the demons never to blame? Why do we imprison people for committing murder even if they claim demons made them do it?
The reality is that all of that is falsehood. G-D in the Torah tells us that WE have free will to choose. He says nothing about "Unless demons possess us". That should prove something right there. There is the literal understanding of Genesis 3 and there's the metaphorical. YHWH was not speaking to His heavenly host in Gen 1:26, if He were then man would have been made in the image of the heavenly host - angels. We as human beings are both spirit and flesh in the very likeness of God the Father, who is Spirit, and Jesus the Son, who is flesh. By your logic, humans wouldn't have been "created" either since being made in the image of God means to be able to create. If humans can bear the image of God and still be creatures, then the same holds for angels.
