This is the first time I actually found the strenght to watch this trial. And there is a lot to say about it, but it's all been said. I do have a great respect for the parents, wifes, family of the victims , being there every day. I heard their tremendous grief, their loss and I can't even imagine how they live on. And sitting there, without saying a word is showing us so much. Thank you for sharing this Law and Crime
and on I think, I have noticed a difference. Even though he doesn’t show much emotion you can tell he is getting mad at something and that’s why he keeps talking to his lawyers so much.
The term is way overused in our society. People who want to have a clean house, bosses who want their employees to perform well, employees who want to perform well, are all carelessly labeled "OCD." The disorder is so much more than that, and those who truly have it sometimes lead miserable lives. 🥺
Sounds like they’re just constantly on the verge of clipping, or howling. I’m not a sound guy. I’m just the musician. Hate dealing with the electronic stuff. But in my experience is sounds more like a sound board problem than a mic problem. They’re inexpensive but they’re not as bad as first act (idk if they make mics but it’d be bad). It goes downhill yet.
You know you’re an accomplished professional when it takes longer than 10 minutes to share your credentials. The psychiatrist is amazing and gave a truly expert testimony! Imagine being able to determine who flies to the moon…So cool!
It was so interesting to me, as he read his credentials to the accomplished lawyers in the room who usually have reason to believe themselves well-schooled and quite far up the ladder of life-achievements, to see them kind of shrivel back into their chairs, let him talk and just wait for the mic-drop at the end! Also I was struck by how personable and how few airs he had, considering his great life-experience and education. Well done, sir!
The audacity of him to say he was going to spare the girls' lives but then they give him a "dirty" look. His twisted mind clearly wanted to see them screaming and begging for their lives. I don't know how some people can have sympathy for him
I’m not sure if this is 100% accurate but I heard Cruz was in the same class with Meadow and another girl when he was a student at msd and both that girl and Meadow always tried to be nice to Cruz they would often let him use their cellphones and in fact they both were the ones who saw the dead bird Cruz brought

My prayers go out to the victims families. I am a mom of a high school student and I can’t even apprehent what these poor parents are going through daily. 🥺
I shared your sentiments but after listening to the clear and easily understandable evaluation from the lead psychiatrist I am leaning towards a very, very sick individual versus purely evil. What do we do with sick people - we don’t put them to death - we try to cure them - in this case seems that there is no cure….so I’m very torn about what should be done with NC.
I so agree with you, Sally. There is no cure for NC. There is no good and happy future of any kind for anyone involved. But maybe, just maybe it might bring a bit of a closure to the families, who lost their innocent babies. Who knows… Thank you for commenting. All the. Est to you and yours

@@Chalupa_Sue you still don't get it. It isn't about the defendant. It's about our system of justice, which guarantees EVERY defendant an adequate defense. The defense counsel is doing their job. Period. They don't have to like their client. They just have to serve as his or her advocate. I'd imagine most of these public defenders are opponents of the death penalty. I will be crucified for this but if early proper intervention had been intermediated in early childhood we may have had a different outcome. My son had all these problems because of the family dimanic I sort intensive psychological therapy from age 4 for many years. My son is now a wonderful family man hard working in a healthy marriage and bought a beautiful home for his family. This could of been me but I don't know for sure but it is scary to think that,. Although we can't go out and buy guns in Australia
Yes, early, sustained intervention is crucial, I think. My son had similar global delays (though with no cruelty toward animals or aggression toward other kids/caretakers.) In his case, the family history was unremarkable. But, he’s a twin and was born prematurely. (His twin sister never had any developmental delays.) We intervened extremely early, and-by fifth grade- he had overcome most of his early-childhood challenges and odd behaviors. He matured into a thoughtful, well-adjusted, socially capable and academically successful young adult. But, I cannot imagine having to manage 2 challenging kids in my fifties like his adoptive mother did, or losing my husband while trying to manage two challenging kids and their loss. I have a lot of compassion for Lynda Cruz whose personal struggles, regrets, sadness, and fears I cannot even begin to understand. And for her sons, too. Empathy isn’t a finite resource and feeling like every destiny in this story is tragic does not mean absolving Nikolas Cruz of responsibility. He behaved monstrously and took away 17 people’s lives. He deserves to be incarcerated for the rest of his life, but he wasn’t dealt a full deck from the start and that’s got to count for something.
As a mom of 2 amazing young men that have different levels of Autism...I disagree with Dr. Scott majorly. Very old school about eye contact & hand usage. I do see Autistic traits with NC. If an Autistic person feels comfortable & it's a subject they are interested in...they will lead the conversation & possibly make eye contact. Important...early intervention & direct an Autistic child's gifts in a positive direction. It's an exhausting job where a parent needs major support. Don't believe the outcome of this trial should be different because of possible Autism...but the "doctors" should learn from it. Also one of my sons early on could hit a bulls eye over & over ...at the fair. Actually very amazing...I didn't then go buy him a gun. Also learned early that he couldn't handle video games...and seriously even Uno. Would love to speak with Dr. Scott.
I have worked as a nurse in a Pain Clinic, we called in patients for random urine drug test. Patients can STILL bring in other peoples urine to pass the test. NOW, I am not saying that because I don’t think NC shouldn’t get the death penalty. I understand that the prosecution needs to debunk what has been said about his birth mother and drugs and alcohol. The witness that they had that was originally from KY that apparently drank and did drugs with his birth mother I felt was believable. This lady seemed pretty neutral, so I am not sure she would be lying for NC because that lady seemed mad bc she was taken to jail all those years ago bc she was with his birth mother when they were arrested. Also as a nurse of 22 years and the last 6 of those years auditing charts, in some patients your liver enzymes won’t necessarily be elevated for AWHILE while you are still actively drinking…..I mean I have friends who I KNOW are actively drinking for years and their labs are NOT jacked up.

This doctor is making a lot of inferences not actually backed up by the data. The fact that Cruz explains the theory behind the inmate/guard study does not mean he has 'reasoning ability.' It means he remembers what he was taught. It's not like he was presented with the study during the test and asked what the meaning of it was.

I wonder if the defense decided to "rest" their case once they got a copy of Dr. Scott's final report, because he clearly "destroyed" the defenses case of FASD...
I could listen to doctor Scott lecture all day 😅😊
I’m so glad they had this testimony. I feel we were bamboozled by the defense.
Amen to that one ! This doctor's qualifications are above question ! He basically DID Write the Book Chapters on these subjects !!
That’s the job of defense counsel. It’s the jury’s job to decide which side is true.
I can see the disgust in the families watching defence attorney trying to trick the jury into thinking he couldn’t read or write it’s disturbing, defence team isn’t looking good for you’s and jury won’t appreciate your games!
Wow this Dr is something else , I am following this trial in England and send my heartfelt sympathy to those parents and families ...your impact statement's were truly heartbreaking and I pray you get some kind of closure . Dispose of this waste of skin he's of no use to society.
You can tell by looking at the evil guy that he is so mad 🫢
He might be losing control of the situation.
Can you place a timestamp? I honestly haven't seen that much emotion from him at all.
and on I think, I have noticed a difference. Even though he doesn’t show much emotion you can tell he is getting mad at something and that’s why he keeps talking to his lawyers so much.
He.has been EXPOSED this punk was CLEVER defense he who laughs first always laughs LAST cruz u looser Fxxx yourself
During the officers readings of NC's notes and descriptions of the drawings, you can see anger rising in the defendant.
@@cynthiaconnors183 I noticed that too, he knows he is losing control.
I wish this was over for the sake of the aging tortured parents. Prayers for them.
Me too 😔
"That's annoying, but thats not necessarily OCD". Ha, love this guy.
The term is way overused in our society. People who want to have a clean house, bosses who want their employees to perform well, employees who want to perform well, are all carelessly labeled "OCD." The disorder is so much more than that, and those who truly have it sometimes lead miserable lives. 🥺

This doctor has all of his 🦆🦆🦆ducks in a row. Very smart and detailed for everyone to understand.
The microphones in this trial suck!!!!!!
Seriously, when the zoom calls are on the volumes are way off
Sounds like they’re just constantly on the verge of clipping, or howling.
Fox audio is better... it is also on youtube.
Other channels are streaming it with no sound issues, which suggests it's a Law and Crime problem.
@@sharonhoyt2133 I am watching it via TH-cam on the Law & Crime Network.,
You know you’re an accomplished professional when it takes longer than 10 minutes to share your credentials.
Fantastic doctor 👏
Hi from Ireland 🇮🇪
Yes, for sure, he furnished a very strong point for the prosecution, can't wait to hear the about the jurys' verdict
Dia Dhuit!
Sickened by Cruz's description of killing Peter, Cara, Meadow, and Chris Hixon. How do you face yourself every morning with those memories?
We will never understand the heinous cruelty he committed against innocent children. the only way to understand is to be just like them
The audacity of him to say he was going to spare the girls' lives but then they give him a "dirty" look. His twisted mind clearly wanted to see them screaming and begging for their lives. I don't know how some people can have sympathy for him
@@nr3858 and the trial has shown he clearly knew exactly what he was doing
Timespan?
I’m not sure if this is 100% accurate but I heard Cruz was in the same class with Meadow and another girl when he was a student at msd and both that girl and Meadow always tried to be nice to Cruz they would often let him use their cellphones and in fact they both were the ones who saw the dead bird Cruz brought
Truly makes me SICK that this whole thing has to even take place, he’s guilty, sentence him and stop putting these parents and this community through this !!!!!! It’s horrific what he did and he’s loving hearing about what he did and the attention he’s getting!!!!! Makes me angry
He's been sentenced..this is the penalty phase. If one thing, even minute, he call appeal..the families would grieve more if that were to happen.
I don't think you'd want to live a country without due process, it's tedious yes but it's important to democracy
@@nemothecanine8268 Yeah, picking and choosing who gets due process is a very slippery slope.
@@misswildlife7905 He's been *convicted,* this is sentencing aka penalty phase.
@@moonknightx5310 He can't appeal the conviction (thankfully) because he plead guilty but he can appeal the sentence then we'd go through another sentencing.
The doctor was amazing, great testimony. I am going to buy his books!
I wish the French prison guard had been the only witness and had delivered every other witnesses testimony.
Did I see the one Defense lawyer laughing while they were reading his note? When he wrote something about "bury me with a woman."
I caught that too. Vile
Looks like Judge has gotten her court under control I hope it's smooth from here out
Do they seriously think for a second that him searching up “loneliness” and “mental disorders” makes him less guilty of brutally murdering 17 innocent lives! Mostly those of freshman HS students that had absolutely nothing to do with the reason he is the way he is or whatever they’re so called excuses for him are!!!?! This defense team makes me sick!
theyre just doing their job because they have to. There is no way you can be remotely on his side.
His guilt is not in question. Only the appropriate punishment for his actions. He is very, very manipulative.
@@hotintxs Yes but this commenter is saying his defense team makes them sick. I was pointing out they are doing their job because they have to. I personally am against the death penalty and hope that he ROTS in prison
He's a living nightmare, all the terrible things he did with all those pupils x teachers x injuring all the others. The awful things he did to animals. I never before felt the death penalty to be a good thing...this trial has changed my mind.
What great info tht dr testified to! All the bs the defense tried to say w his fetal alcohol syndrome blaming his behavior on the mother is out the window.
Volume is aweful even hooking up my portable speaker
Watch on youtube Fox...audio is much better
It gets better after a few hours, but at the start its pretty bad.
Yeah noticed I spoke too soon
Why is it taking so long to declare his sentence. There is no doubt as to what it should be.
The murdered was so sick and depraved so early in life. 😢 heartbreaking he should have been hospitalized. So 💔💔💔💔💔for these families. Sickening
I have been following this trial from the very beginning and I was mostly on the fence about life or death.. After hearing Dr. Scotts adequate and most thorough testimony on his findings about Nicolas Cruz, I truly believe he deserves the ultimate… punishment.. and not life in prison.
@@notafakename7218 Take care, Nota.
So every morning should start with a moment for the defense to present their case for mistrial and then move on to new business. That makes 4 times now? 5? For this sick little SOB? Everyday he proves he is a more horrible person than previously thought.
So very true!
The defense is doing their job. Each of us would want our defense attorney to be as committed to doing their jobs.
@@hotintxs the defense is abhorrent. Especially after today arguing that he has lack of executive functioning because his plan wasn’t even that sophisticated and he could’ve been stopped but he “got lucky”. They should remember they are not arguing guilt or innocence. He is a self confessed murderer. He would’ve killed their children if they’d been in that building. He’s deranged and so are they.
@@Chalupa_Sue you still don't get it. It isn't about the defendant. It's about our system of justice, which guarantees EVERY defendant an adequate defense. If we want to preserve that valuable right for ourselves, and our loved ones, should we ever be accused of a crime, then we must grant the same right to even the most deranged and abhorrent individual. The defense counsel is doing their job. Period. They don't have to like their client. They just have to serve as his or her advocate. I'd imagine most of these public defenders are opponents of the death penalty. They may see their actions as trying to avoid having the death penalty imposed, simply because they oppose it in principal. Don't paint the defense team with the same brush as a sociopathic murderer. This is our judicial system, and it's the best the world has to offer right now.
does he not really need those glasses? and he hasnt been disruptive once.Maybe this is the most attention and support hes had in his life.
A rank and file Licensed Master Social Worker can diagnose someone with Antisocial Personality Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder. They are two very common diagnoses. It sounds to me that he also has RAD and Intermittent Explosive Disorder which are common diagnoses among children who were adopted. Dr.Scott is amazing though! He thoroughly examined the defendants life and became acquainted with vast details of it.
I’m sorry did they say he wrote with his hemorrhoid blood?
He shows no remorse for killing those kids
Prof. Dr, Scott has an impressive career, wow, love him
Surely his testimony makes things clear to the jury
Dang... hes a good witness... and i like how the state lead with his hourly rate... bc that's something opposing counsel always brings up... which is ridiculous bc all expert witnesses get paid... but none the less its always addressed by the opposing counsel so its smart to get out in front of it...
Yep it's good on them to take away any extra opportunity for these defense attorneys to be snarky!
@@spicyboyii i mean... idk what the defense will possibly say... he just basically swept the floor... tied up all possible loose ends... clarified a lot of points in a really easily understandable manner... if i was the state I'd close with him... i really cant imagine a better witness to close on...
A few expert witnesses don't charge a fee, and there are some who make a good living from testifying in trials and doing little else.Asking how much they're being paid gets tedious because as you point out each side uses them.
Anyone who knowingly, and illegally enters a School, with a weapon like that MUST know they are in the wrong..., there's NO defense for this misanthrope! Formalities here prove to be VERY expensive... A waste of time!
Poor families, those letters are bad.
The Dr is great...explains so much.
But in it all I watch the defense an with them over there paying tic-tac-toe or whatever..is just so sad.
Defense picture your child after he has shot them..once or 13 times
Just because they are defending them, it doesn't mean they are his best friend. They tried to recuse themselves from defending him and the judge denied their request. Even if they had agreed to this, everyone in America has a right to a defense. You have to look past the emotional side of it and see the big picture. If we didn't have this part in the judicial system, so many innocent people would go to jail. Everyone has a right to a defense. That doesn't mean every lawyer likes them or agreed what they've done.
@@justthatgirl-ct4jo that right ..just as I have a right of a opinion...an my opinion stands..he slaughtered innocent children.
His rights don't mean anything to me. An the defense has the right to do as they wish. Everyone needs a job, but to sit an smile , laugh , hug someone that has destroyed so many lives . Sorry not interested in your theory!
@@tammielewis5837 it’s not a theory. You said the defense should picture their children murdered. If it wasn’t these lawyers, it would be different lawyers. Somebody has to do it.
@@tammielewis5837 they are just trying to represent their client to the best of their ability. A lawyer doesn’t have to like what their client done but it would be hard to properly represent a client if the attorneys showed coldness and hatred towards them.
Life in prison is more punishment than death
That depends on the prison environment. And it comes at a huge cost to the taxpayer.
The defense attorney was even laughing at him ..smh they know hes a lost cause and they only have to defend them because its there job. Their only goal here is to beat the state because thats the point of their job no matter who they are defending!
At the end 7:30-ish the murderer is sitting by himself, un-cuffed, un-shackled. a few women packing briefcases, backs turned, and at the other end of the room the cops are having a gab fest. unbelievable.
I agree, they're to relaxed. He can attack just like he did to the prison guard. Secondly, even a pen could be his weapon by stabbing anyone in the neck or jabbing their eyes. Unbelievable indeed.
with all those drawings FROM JAIL how did he get sentenced to life???? Also I observed and wonder why he has a pencil or pen in his possession at a MAX security prison, that would be considered a weapon what kind of prison is this????
I’m not 100% with this judge, a tad bit unprofessional
Agreed ... She's been very one sided and snarky this whole trial. I don't blame her as a person, but as a judge ... She shouldn't be this way.
"I can't remember his name or whatever his name is" 🤔 😅
@@Billie_Marie_ well at least is not on the psycho’s side. They will appeal even if she is not the best judge according to people, that’s just how this crappy system works. I understand they have to be neutral but until you are in her shoes you wouldn’t understand, plus it doesn’t help that the defense team have been treating this trial as a joke.
The French sheriff reading the foul letter ...
Yeah, a rather jarring contrast.
It is shocking that our public school system is so weak that they choose to continue to subject kids to behavior like this. They are afraid to throw Cruz out while forcing good kids to endure this criminal every day. We need school choice and portability of education dollars. Public schools will be left with only the ones that can't behave and won't learn.
Is the death penalty on the table for whoever is in charge of audio in this trial?

So when does court resume due to hurricane?
Why are the victim's families accepting money from the Federal Government for the shootings?

Hurricane Ian is no joke and all of FL needed to pay attention to. Obviously because it kept shifting. Yes, they are on the other side of the state but look at Daytona Beach.

Is it an oversimplification to say the defense is saying, ‘we never said he was sorry, so y’all can’t say he isn’t.’?
In rebuttal of defense case only. The state can argue that in their presentation of aggravating factors.
@@sA-ny2jl that’s why the judge overruled their objection. If they mentioned it, then their argument was flat out, untrue. I was just going off face value of your og comment where you asked if it was an oversimplification, and quoted them as never having mentioned it.
I don’t the parents had the proper support to know to push for more help unfortunately. I am glad you did and your son is doing good.

Oh wow. This Dr is close to me. My daughter graduated from UC Davis.
Well he was smart enough to plan what he did.
@@chiricanita6697 the defense hasn't ever said otherwise.
