@@username6265 pretty sure he was talking about the studio version. When Dave plays this live, he subtracts the bass drum after the open hi hat. And it is less noticeable due to the mix
I always hear people loving the vocals and guitar riffs of grunge, but not enough people talk about the drumming. Songs like these have such good (even if simple) drum parts. Great Job!
Agreed! The more music I listen to and the more thought I give it, the more I think this was a golden age for drum tones. The drum parts and tones worked so incredibly well together. Things were leaning towards trying to emulate the ultra processed sound of drum machines but most of the work(mixing and editing) was still being done in the analog world. The next evolution of drum processing was going mostly if not entirely in the box and doing most things digitally. Which led to these insane drum mixes you hear today but a human element got left behind in the process. Hopefully drum sounds and performances will start to lean back into the middle ground. It feels like it’s starting to happen with some new music coming out right now. Perfection is no longer the priority.
I hit like before the drumming even started. You’re obviously younger than this timeframe of music, and the other songs you play. Where did your love of these eras come from? These songs you play are very close to my heart as a lover of music having grown up during those times, but also as a drummer. Love your channel, man. My son and I check you every time you post. Keep it up
Not musician, drummer, just music fan. Watching for awhile YT rock drum covers, guys with bigger subs, changing stuff to make it, very quote, "better" and dooing fancy sticks flips every 10s or so, wow so impressed at first. Now I rather get 100,00 % full focus on showing drum play power coming out of original song executed perfectly like you do it, so beautifull. Multiple vids made me feel so pumped up about songs that I forget to listen in a while, thanks. Like never imagined watching Nirvana HSP Box drum cover could be so fun. Kyle, pleeeease !!!!!!, do Foo Fighters My Hero, dissapointed it's not on already, new subcriber, new regular watcher
Just picked up a new drum set after 15 years and I've been practicing this song. Playing along with you really helped me out man. Can't wait to get to the point of being able to play it confidently! Thanks for the help!
Very nice played. At the end of the first bridge after the first chorus, Dave hits the bass drum also while opening the hihat - just a small detail. Cheers!
Can you do a cover of First date by Blink-182, Basket case or welcome to paradise by green day, or something by the arctic monkeys in their first 2 albums Whatever people say I am thats what I'm not and Favorite worst nightmare. Thank you!
You can really feel when Dave subtracts that bass drum in the verse after the open hi hat. This is pure Grohl
I never noticed that. Now I’ve gotta restart fuck
he doesn't subtract any kick drum, its just doubles all the way through. I think it's just the mix that throws you off.
@@adrummerbreeze nope, if You look at his basedrum patrn, You der that hè is holding back on that first kick

The dicipline involved to not jam flashy fills everywhere is astounding. I am in awe, good sir.
Thats what i like about watching him. He enjoys the music for what it is. Doesnt add unnecessary fills that dont fit the energy
@@AirwavesHD facts bro, this guy is a legend
@@AirwavesHD any tips on what note i should tune my snare to for this song? i have a 13 inch remo
