I am 68 years Oldy-Goldy retired Iranian adventurer who live in Berlin Germany and building my own Mono-walker Carré for my long walking journey from Germany to Iran!!! Thanks so lot buddy ❗️✊🫡👏🙏
There is a guy in Australia who has gone completely the opposite direction with his "Trekkers Friend" which puts to wheels onto a standard backpack, and uses hiking poles.
Excellent video! This is exactly what I was afraid of with the monowalker. if you have a huge amount of time and could do the same trail with your favorite two wheel backpacking trailer, it would be really nice to see I head to head comparison. Thanks again!
I am not giving up though. I plan to buy this trailer www.radicaldesign.com/wheelie-v-cargo and put my Mammut Heron Pro backpack into the trailer. Maybe a similar thing could be done with the Monowalker as well. The case is that a trailer is great for 80% length of a trip. But it shall not kill you on the more difficult part. Single wheel vs two wheels - I did not speculate about it in the video because I did not compare those two yet. Stay tuned. Trailers are great and they deserve their space in the sun :)
@@mukiker I had the version 3 of the standard RadicalDesign Wheelie without braces. I used it in mountains on small pathways it was constantly pulling me down so never without breaks in mountains again. I think that NO hikeing trailor can get everywere as good as a backpack. So it depends on the expected Terrain if we use backpack or hikeing trailor. I dont think that the Wheelie will be better for that mountain Terrain like in the Video, I think it will be more bad because of the 2 Weels. Last summer I went a Path in the mountains that I would never ever could go with any hikeing trailor just with a Backback. So if we want to go Paths like this, just carry the realy needet with a Backpack that it stays ligth, thats my adwise.
@@bunterregenbogen54x2 Thanks for your comment! Regarding brakes - they are not useful on the way up. You can't brake and release the brake between every step. I tried hard to learn it :) I thought it could have a blocking mechanism like tennis nets - a metal wheel which turns in one direction but blocks the reverse direction... Yes, two wheels will not be better on rocks. I like that the Benpacker trailer emphasizes that it can be rebuilt into a backpack... Hm...
@@mukiker Yes, Monowalker Fatmate needs an Upgrade, some blocking Mechanism inside the Wheel mechanics that the Wheel just can go in walking direction, that would be usefull for uphill.
Thanks for a very good review. I have been thinking about getting one of these for hiking trips with kids. But after seeing this I am not so sure anymore. I would be hiking mainly on trails in the woods.
This is a fantastic review! Explaning and demonstrating all difficulties. In a friendly, down to earth way. 👍👍👍

Yes, I tested it few weeks ago. It is great. I will do a video about it.

Wow, My best friend, Thank you for your hard work in making the video. I enjoyed the good video. Have a happy day.
If there was a way to add gyros to allow for hands free stability on rough terrain then I could see this as a real game changer.
Thank you for the review! Sucks that it is not useful for alpine hiking. Oh well
