I grew up in the fifties and as a child didn't think living standards were bad, at least for us. Thinking back, I remember the outside toilet and the "pan man" coming to empty it. We had an ice box not a big 2 door refrigerator and the "ice man" would bring a big block of ice into the house and put it in the ice box. Milk was delivered by a horse and cart and bread was also delivered each morning. The washing was done in a big gas fired copper and we had two concrete sinks with a ringer in between. There was no running hot water to the kitchen or bathroom sink just a hot water system for the shower and bath. We all had big backyards with fruit trees, vegetable and chooks. I remember my mother shopping at the bulk store and buying a 1lb of broken biscuits and oh the delight if you found a piece covered in chocolate. I don't want to go back to those times, life is much easier today, but I am thankful I have the skills to manage a major downturn.

Muscle mass and bone density go down with old age, it's called Sarcopenia. Sarcopenia was registered as a disease in 2016 by the WHO. The cure is slow high intensity training. At the age of 70 I have a lot of energy and do exercise 3 times a week. Weight training is a pain, but very much needed at my age. On top of that the food we eat from the stores have less nutrients, so that's why I grow my own as well.

I’m the same age as you and grew up in housing commission homes. Our family was considered poor and lived on welfare until my dad secured a full-time job. Despite this, we always ate well-meat and three veg most nights and a roast on Sundays. We could afford milk and bread deliveries and even crates of soft drinks occasionally.
Now, as a couple with adult children, my husband earns over $100k a year, yet we’re lucky if we can afford steak once a fortnight. Chicken has become our staple, but even that is rising in price-chicken thighs are nearing $20/kg. The quality of the meat available to us is appalling, as it seems the best products are exported, leaving Australians with scraps.
To cope, I’m turning our front and back yards into edible gardens because supermarket vegetables are outrageously priced, often old or almost rotten.
This isn’t just about food prices, though. It’s about a bigger picture where global companies and foreign entities, like BlackRock, Vanguard, and overseas buyers, own our major banks, supermarkets, resources, and even Aussie pubs. These corporations have no allegiance to the Australian people-they see us as cash cows. They refuse to honour Australian traditions like Australia Day, push divisive agendas, and are driving families into poverty.
Record-high immigration policies and lax regulations are also enabling foreign criminals to launder money by buying Australian properties, which drives up housing prices and forces many Australians into tents and cars.
We need leadership that prioritises Australians, not global corporations. Like the USA has Trump, we need someone who will stand up for us. While parties like One Nation, the Katter Party, and Australia First are promising, they’re consistently smeared by the mainstream media with false accusations. Australians must wake up, demand accountability from our leaders, and remind them they work for us, not for globalist interests.
It’s time to shed the “she’ll be right” attitude and take a stand. Change is overdue, and it must happen fast.

But it won't. too many lazy or distracted thinkers.. if you are in WA would be ideal to have a face-to-face or if Marty agrees a meet-up via something like Zoom would allow all or some of the contributors' input to be collated. That sounds scarey , I’m glad I’ve been single & childless for 20 years. You mention …” like the USA has trump “ as if it’s a good thing but it’s far from good, it fact both demonic US political parties have been working towards this end for a long time and trump will bring about nothing but death and destruction as it is prophesied in the bible.

    • @kparker1615
      @kparker1615 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@servantofgod5642 Trump’s presidency is focused on patriotism, reducing government intervention, and promoting economic growth. When he was President from 2016 to 2020, he did not bring death and destruction, in fact Americans saw an increase in their standard of living, with a boost to jobs and wages, lower taxes, and deregulation. Compare that to when Biden took office in 2020, the country saw a sharp decline in economic stability, skyrocketing inflation, rising costs, drop in standards of living, historic high illegal immigration, huge growth in crime, not to mention escalating global tensions as the U.S. moved closer to war. Out of the two - which would you choose, another 4 years of growth or 4 more years of actual death and destruction from the Democrats. I think the American people made the right decision.
The media, both in the U.S. and here in Australia, have made it clear they intend to vilify Trump, especially with a federal election on the horizon here in Australia. The narrative of "orange man bad" is perpetuated by those who fear that the American people’s uprising during the last election might inspire Australians to rise up and demand better from their government. The mainstream media will continue to push this agenda to ensure you don’t see the truth-if Trump were truly a harbinger of death and destruction, we would have seen it by now.
Look at Argentina for a moment. Javier Gerardo Milei, much like Trump, was relentlessly vilified by the media, yet he campaigned on reducing government interference, cutting public spending, and implementing market-based reforms to fix the economy. Since his election, Milei has managed to stabilise Argentina’s currency and make strides in fiscal responsibility, proving that alternative approaches can work in the face of dire economic challenges.
Other countries like Hungary and Poland also provide examples of successful shifts from left-leaning to right-leaning leadership. In both, conservative governments have emphasised nationalism, stricter immigration policies, and traditional values, leading to increased economic stability and national sovereignty. These shifts have not only improved the standard of living but have given these nations the freedom to control their futures without globalist interference.
While it's impossible to predict the future with certainty, it's clear that the U.S. is at a critical turning point. There’s hope that Trump, or a leader with similar values, could help restore Australia's prosperity before it falls further into the hands of global interests. Until this time, our government will continue to sell off our sovereignty to the highest bidder, and our own standard of living will continue to deteriorate. Time will tell, but we need leaders who genuinely care about their citizens-leaders like Trump, who have shown they are willing to fight for their country, despite the media’s efforts to tear them down.

Back in the day, people were grateful to have a roof over their heads, they lived within their means and made the most off what they had. People also saved their money before making large purchases. We were quite hard up when I was growing up so my dad got an allotment (UK) and grew most of our veg and mum "put down" the stuff he grew so we were alright for the winter.
The Digger's Club had (maybe still do) an offer to buy seeds to provide food for the whole year. So many people aren't interested in growing stuff, they want bigger and bigger houses (can they really afford them?) and get rid of the gardens.
In the future (certainly South Australia) water shortages are going to be a major problem so people are going to have to come up with creative ways to grow produce. Robbie (Robbie and Garry Gardening Easy) in Southern California has some clever ideas on growing without much water. Go and check out her "raised beds" chair gardens. Quite interesting and useful (adjunct to your wonderful channel Marty) information. See you soon X

I often wonder when people/groups make blanket statements about these types of things how the data is collected and interpreted.
It's very easy to ask questions with only answers that lean toward a desired outcome as well. I've seen it a few times when I've been asked to participate in a study or answer questions on a particular topic.
Also I wonder how many farms are still in the name of an older father, grandfather but younger members of the family are waiting to take it over.
I know of quite a few around where we are and I'm sure it's the same in other places as well.
Also if food production drops food will get more expensive so it will become a better financial proposition to grow it imo.
I do agree that corporates/monopolies are a large part of the issue but it's a bit silly to say that we want less Govt. intervention but then that we want them to crack down on it as well.
My view is that living standards haven't dropped, we had it easier than our parents and our kids have it easier than we did, but it's more of a divide between the haves and the have nots. We've had an extremely long run of good financial times but that may be about to change.

Their mantra is "the more for me, the happier I'll be" Which in reality couldn't be further from the truth.
Now throw in the mix this way of thinking into our political system and what you see happening all around you today is the result.
This mentality really isn't conducive of a productive happy society, in fact it's totally destructive and what we are witnessing is simply the result of greed I'm afraid.

The standard of living? The scraping by you mean? 🫤😂 I moved from WA to Qld almost 2yrs ago : when I moved, a kilo bag of carrots cost 90cents. Now they are over $3 a kilo!? Its more than doubled in 2 yrs! Ive gone from long-term renting a Lovely big new beachside house - to living off-grid in a caravan simply to make ends meet. We are definitely in a recession atm and it doesn't look to be getting better anytime soon.
