Unrelated, but I've heard that, in order to make a string (from string theory) visible to the naked eye, you would have to blow an atom up to the size of the solar system. That's small, bro (insert self deprecating dick joke here)!
jan jansen there is no such thing as size, or length, or up or down,or kilos or pounds in the universe. if I was to stand next to a mouse than I would be considered big. if I was to stand next to a building I was to considered small. if building was to stand right next to the earth it would be considered small.
My personal theory: I don't consider this to be right or probable. It is just a possibility which I believe would answer such questions... Personally, I don't believe there is such thing as "Nothing". I believe that humans call anything which they can't register as real nothing. Sounds foolish but let me give an example: Imagine if the human race was born blind. We would have all of our senses except sight. Imagine we would've managed to develop just well without seeing anything. Now, how would this race which cannot see ever understand what a "color" is? They would be incapable of doing so.. they can't see meaning they can't know which object is each color. They would never even be able to understand what it means because it is something that their perception of reality is incapable of acknowledging. A better example: If one person from this blind human race was able to see. He would bring one of the blind humans into a room and ask him what does he see... he would say "nothing". However, the human that can see knows very clearly that there is something there. I'm very tired so I'm not sure I'm getting my point across correctly.. What I mean is, we do not know exactly if something needs to be created in order for it to exist. Maybe everything was always everything. Real life example: There's been a huge void in space detected by NASA way back in 2007. Bassicaly, they stated that there was a huge gap in the middle of space with nothing in it. Now how would nothing look like? I believe in the possibility of there being something in what we call nothing, we're just not able to see it yet. I don't think anything is ever created nor destroyed. It is like physics - or more specifically, thermodynamics. The first rule of thermodynamics states that energy is never created nor destroyed, even though it might look like we're using energy and it will eventually run out, we're simply transfering that energy to another system. If you think about it, that is true to everything. In nature itself we can observe that things don't necessarly get created or destroyed, they're simply always changing. Therefore I think it is possible that the universe didn't have to be created in order to exist. Or, maybe there is a reason as to how everything needs to be created, but we cannot understand how exactly that would be possible since, as you've stated yourself, as you keep going back in time that question will always remain. Maybe we're currently not capable of finding the real answer because we are still not capable of understanding the concepts necessary to get to the answer, just like the blind man would have a hard time understanding what the meaning of color is.
@@Ghostxlyvoidyour lack of depth & understanding is showing thru by your reply. Without definitive proof that there is life elsewhere in the universe means the possibility exist that we could be alone. With that possibility, it also include that we may be the only intelligent species even if life is abundant in the universe. But let's say if there are other intelligent species - which seems likely, given the size of the universe - but they haven't found a way to traverse the stars either. Which also make us essentially alone. Furthermore, let's say there are species vastly more intelligent than us, but they have concluded that 'faster than light travel is impossible,' which also makes us essentially alone. Going on, let's say there's a species so superior to us that we're like an anthill to them, & they're beyond our comprehension. Again, making us essentially alone. So you claim we're not alone...where is your proof? Or is the Drake equation is what you have? That is probabilistic, & not definite proof. Go to school & learn something
No human mind can properly process the idea of infinity. We can understand what it means but can't explain it, either. It's a conditional limitation built into our mind by our experiences in life... everything has a beginning and an end. People are born and die just like everything on the planet.
Universe can be a line and our world can be a single point along the line. We live inside the point inside the limited space so every thing we see has a start and an end
Read Ecclesiastes if you like existential crisies! Even if you're not a Christian it is still a good book about logic and the meaning of anything as well as why some people believe what they do. Also Neon Genesis Evangelion is on Netflix now so there's another existential thing to watch!

That's just a geometric generality to explain the universe. It's obviously not 2 dimensionally flat. It just means that it expands on outward infinitely. Instead of curving back onto itself.

@@lukas912 But do understand that you had no consciousness for billions of years, did you give a care? The same thing will happen after your death. You shall die, and you will cease to exist. Besides your atoms of course and you will not care. It seems to me the human brain simply cannot grasp the concept of non-existence.
I read a short story to that effect a while back. I think it was in Analog. Wish I could find that issue. I should have organized my boxes of them better.
Eddy Vluggen bruh you really think there’s no other life in space when space is such a huge creation with BILLIONS of planets and you believe our dumbasses on earth are the only ones ? xD you shit brain
I sat one day and tried as hard as i could (mentally) to understand infinity. I imagined what it would feel like to die and just be stuck in visual darkness for the rest of eternity. Forver, never ending. I didnt come close to the real conception of eternity but that didnt stop from having a near panic attack.
This same thought comforts me about death. Our conciousness will no longer be limited by the human brain, and we will instantly understand why and how this all exists. Just as we did before we were born. Is that "heaven"? We'll see eventually
Just Too Funny space is just sooo hypnotizing. I’m not afraid of dying anymore because compared to space, I’m so irrelevant and small and easily replaced. I’m just a passenger drifting with a finite time in the universe. I’m just trying to live my life to the fullest in the moment.
Maybe it just goes on forever? Our minds struggle and are haunted by the vastness of eternity, and so we try to find the end of everything.. the universe, time etc.. Maybe there is just no end.
You are right because our creator “The King of eternity “ has no beginning and no end! That’s why humans cannot completely understand the infinity and eternity because they are out of our range. Ecclesiastes 3:11
I like the theory I heard from Brian Cox, the universe was never created. It's always just been. But people hate the idea because we believe everything needs a beginning
People that believe in ‘God’ also make the old, ‘has no beginning’ statement. Cox is lame, saying also that the universe is expanding into ‘nothing’ . Obviously not, it’s must, surly by the fact that it’s expanding be at the very least, expanding into something that can allow three dimensional space to exist. Saying ‘nothing’ is lazy. Saying the universe has no beginning is God territory.
Even if the big bang theory is correct, there would have been a pre-big bang state in which the universe was something else. And these phase transitions will continue, in perpetuity.
@@StaticBlaster Yeah it would kinda just make sense. Everything we understand so far is a cycle. Look at our own earth for example. We can literally look at the history we know of from our scientific discoveries, and understand that the earth goes into "frozen, hot, and dormant stages. This is currently the Dormant one slowly turning back into the hot one, before we go into an ice age.
Knowledge of the universe can be represented as a circle. The inside of the circle is what we know, the edge or circumference of the circle is what we don't know. As our knowledge increases, the circle grows, and we learn that there is even more we don't understand, infinitely.
It’s so mind blowing to think we are floating on a rock in space, with no real idea what created all this nor what exists beyond what we can observe. Thinking of it fills my mind with wonder. Makes you feel silly for your worries
Matthew Sommerville it is mind blowing isn’t it? Thankfully the Creator revealed Himself to us so we actually DO have an idea of how everything was created! God is amazing :)
Tea And shade oh but He is! He revealed Himself to me. I was an atheist just like you. Here’s my testimony: Me and my girlfriend messed around with a spirit board. We got in contact with a spirit that knew way too much about us and was constantly telling us things we didn’t know that we had to google to verify that he was correct. All we wanted was for him to give us the lottery numbers and talk about something interesting but he kept telling us to get back to church and to get married. He told us that God has plans for us and I asked him how he knew all this and how was he able to communicate with us. He said through prayer. He said that because we had family praying for us to get Jesus in our lives, he was able to communicate. He said he wouldn’t have been able to without prayer. It’s almost is if God allowed this interaction to happen. Anyway, as we took a road trip to a hotel in Dallas, me and my girlfriend got on the board one last time. The spirit told us to turn on the TV. It was on a Christian station and a sermon was just starting. The message was about giving your life to Christ. After that we went to the bed stand to grab the Bible and in it were pamphlets on repenting , and the Bible was highlighted with instructions on repenting and accepting Christ. Not only that, but before we checked in, we had to wait an hour in the lobby because they were having problems getting the room that was reserved for us, so we had to get the next available room. It’s almost as if God wanted us to get that room. Obviously a Christian person was in that room before us. It was just too much for us to just ignore so we asked Christ into our lives that night and wow. Best decision we ever made. I have never been happier in my life and now we are married and filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit. In the hotel room before we even opened the curtains, we asked God to show us a sign. (We were just so happy at the moment and we just wanted to see if God would actually give us a sign of some sort). As I opened the curtains, I only saw one sign. A physical sign of the hotel across the street. What’s crazy is that the logo on the sign had 2 rings interlocked with each other with a shining flame in between. The only thing really keeping us living a sinful lifestyle was that we lived together and were not married. That same moment my gf read a random bible passage and it talked about the importance of marriage. We were blown away. To me the sign represented our marriage (the rings) with God at the center of our relationship (the shining flame). We burned the board once we got back home (as it goes against God’s Will) and got married 2 months later. There is way more to it than that. Just a few of the highlights.
@@tdc2005 Good story, I'm glad you found God. God is real but one can never know him without faith, Atheists can't understand or comprehend that and they never will unless they learn to give in with just a little bit of faith, that's all it takes for God to show himself to you, but without it one is lost. There is more to life than what we can see with our own eyes, you can see and understand the spirit realm once you've opened up your spiritual eyes which is something only another Christian understands.
You people know people can believe what the fuck they want? Nobody is right or wrong. I personally believe in the Big Bang. The nothingness that surrounds nothingness is just more nothingness which is really not nothingness. It's something...just empty, black space with subatomic particles.
My thoughts are to rename "nothingness" with uncreated space. Chris langan talks about his understanding that willpower can create original new creations. I guess this brings up a new possibly deeper philosophical question. Is the universe aware of itself and it's actions, or no. Good luck with evidence on any of this though lol. Fun.
Way bigger than that. I think scientists have an idea on what is outside the observable universe, it's just more unknown galaxies, stars, and planets but the rest of the universe scientist think that it is over 1 sextillion times the size of the observable universe. Either that or it ever ends. Pretty freaky eh.

I have never relegated my problems to my lack of faith, however, but more over believe that I'm just sort of a broken, or maybe shitty individual (probably a bit of both). I've explained it like this; the way some people feel about God in their heart, is the way I feel about my absence of faith. It's built in to my core. I feel it in my heart. even if we could travel just below light speed (which we may some day, but I am pretty convinced that FTL isn't actually possible) we still could never leave the observable universe. Space is expanding so rapidly that we could never, ever, catch up to those furthest galaxies.
Haha if someone could fly at light speed tomorrow it would be really useless, light speed is the fastest shit in the universe but compared to the universe light is super slow, it would take million of years traveling at light speed just to get near a planet that maybe has life, traveling at light speed in the universe is the same if i tell you to take a car and travel form Australia to USA going at 10 km per hour
Hypothetically Nothing is beyond the Universe. Not Space, not time, not matter but a practically endless expanse (if you could call it that) of nothing.
It's very difficult to comprehend the fact that space is infinite which means that it never began it has simply always been there, something very difficult to grasp.
I can't agree when it comes to space, it doesn't have an age , it has always been there and goes on forever, it didn't just pop out of nowhere because it has always been there . That is my point. Figures are useless as far as the universe is concerned . A trillion trillion trillion light years mean nothing because that doesn't even begin to describe how old space is , that period of time is less than a nanosecond compared to how long it's been around. One to the power of a trillion light years is less than a blink of an eye.
@Ikallicrates Not to mention that the cosmic microwave background is almost perfectly uniform in the sky..only possible with an inflating universe. There was a beginning, there will be an end, the question is, what was our universe before the big bang..why was that cocktail of virtual particles present, and what will happen to this enormous space we call our universe once there is no fuel or atoms left at all..does it just remain forever and ever as a big empty space? Where will the next universe fit then? How many are there? does that go on forever? if not, why is there a limit? Oh man..the questions go on! lol
My greatest fear is getting lost in space. Imagine if at the end of the universe, it’s just a wall of white, and nothing else. Just nothing. This is one of the most exciting times to be alive. This is the moment it's all been changing (and for the past 100 years). This snapshot of history will be a focus for humanity for as long as we exist..... we are lifting ourselves into the electronic age as we live and breath. You should be excited you live in these times, there will always be times when everything isn't known. You take for granted what we do know and if you were born in the future you'd take for granted what you knew then, it's not in our nature to be 'satisfied'.... so there's no satisfaction you're missing out on.
Samuel Rs Actually, this is one of the scariest times to be alive. Yes technology is getting better and humans are learning much more about the world we live in. But we are forgetting everything else in this generation. Global warming is getting worse as we speak. Humans are invading the rainforest and destroying the homes of beautiful creatures. New generations are becoming more lazy and gaining a lot of weight. The government keeps hiding things from us. And world leaders are declaring war at each other. Cancer and other diseases are increasing. Children of Africa have no home and are thirsty for water. People are committing suicide and I don’t blame them because they know that we humans are the most evil animal to take foot on this planet. People are too busy buying clothes for fashion too look cool with their friends. Religion has brainwashed people of thinking another way. Everyone are so judgemental over people’s appearance or they have a disability even though they are kind. Pollution is filling the air and slowly poisoning our lungs. Zoos are keeping animals captive just for a bit entertainment. And the worst thing of them all is Evolution. The better our technology and population will get, the more our earth has to suffer. And when we move to another planet we’ll probably destroy that one too and another and another until we kill off the entire universe. If only the dinosaurs never went extinct, this could of been avoided. But no. We are living in the worst time possible and it’s only going to get even more bad if we don’t do anything about it. We need to stop focusing on the things you want but what you need.

My thoughts: What if we're just very small "microscopic germs" living in "space" that make up another life form far bigger than what we can imagine. What if that life form also has something they call "space" and are wondering the same thing as I am? I don't know anything about space, but I've always had thoughts like this...
Nassim haramein mentions how macro and micro scales are the same just using different sized stuff .. so you could literally view the small to understand the large because they all obey the same laws and movements ... so instead of building bigger and better telescopes for billions of dollars you can spend thousands of dollars and make better microscopes and then relate the micro scale to selected macro scale expectations from the micro scale data and refine the data for all scales even better ... and that would also save a ton of money that could be put into doing smart stuff like feeding the planet and making everyones quality of life all better.
Maybe since we humans have a beginning and and end, We're so obsessed with a beginning and an end of the universe. But what if the universe has no end, and has no beginning? It would be difficult to comprehend as a human being, But the universe is not human, And does not necessarily have same nature as we do. This way I could accept, The universe has no beginning, Nor end, It is truly infinite.
@from SPORT "agree with religion and dont ask further questions" now where would we be if we all just followed your advice? thats not what we should do at all :)
The process of ACTUALLY thinking about "nothing" is so incredibly difficult, your brain simply does NOT know how to process it. Barsabus Thank, God! I was starting to wonder what all the hubbub was about with weed if it just made me feel like I feel when I think about the Universe: tired, alone, stupid, and insignificant...
This is just my thought. Space is infinite. The Blackness we see without the stars and galaxies. That doesn't end. Its nothing outside it because reality is everything that exists so what could be outside existence other than existence itself.
The most well accepted models of the Universe suggest it's infinite. Therefore, it wouldn't contain such thing as a border, since the Universe itself could be consired a closed system. In fact, most models imply the border as nonexistent.
You can push on the boundary as far as you can but the boundary remains. But the truth is, the boundary cannot be there, because a boundary always needs two things: one on this side and one on the other side. You cannot make a boundary with only one side. You have a fence around your house because there is a neighbor's house. Your fence is not the end -- it is simply the beginning of another house. So if sometime logic forces us to conclude there must be a boundary, it has to be asked: What will be beyond the boundary? There must be something. Even though it is going to be nothing, that nothing will also be part of the universe. Why are we creating a boundary? That emptiness will also be the universe. Once we understand that every boundary needs two things -- something that it closes and something that it opens -- then we can have some idea that a finite universe is impossible. Only an infinite universe is possible.
Pinapley it's hard to imagine anything that's without a beginning or an end. Not on a linear level anyway. Btw.. A+ for the best comment in this thread. Its was a good read!

Why our minds cannot understand something (include creator if any) coming into existence from nothingness ? Logically this cannot be answered because of limitation of our mental capacity. This limitation leads to believing in some creator who might know the answers to these questions.

It was created by me
Our can’t comprehend this concept
It’s so fascinating the more we think we know something the more we realise we actually know nothing
Knowledge of the universe can be represented as a circle. The inside of the circle is what we know, the edge or circumference of the circle is what we don't know. As our knowledge increases, the circle grows, and we learn that there is even more we don't understand, infinitely.

Tea And shade oh but He is! He revealed Himself to me. I was an atheist just like you. Here’s my testimony:
Me and my girlfriend messed around with a spirit board.
It's scary knowing we will never know.
Maybe, or we won't live enough to see it
Terrax Gaming welp someone might even tommorow discover how to use light speed or maybe even beyond
even if we could travel just below light speed (which we may some day, but I am pretty convinced that FTL isn't actually possible) we still could never leave the observable universe. Space is expanding so rapidly that we could never, ever, catch up to those furthest galaxies.
I'd say that's more inspiring than scary. Exsistance would likely be awfully boring if we knew all the secrets to the universe's mysteries...
What if the universe has ended already, but the “end” (if you will) has not reached us yet?
@ItzD0GE 😂😂 it’s a crazy thought isn’t it? Scary one, too!
Woah🤯
Bruh..
woah that would also explain how huge the universe truly is...
Bro that is one amazing theory lol... blew my mind..
What lies beyond the observable universe?
The rest of the universe...
Steven Bracken the real question is what is beyond the universe? Which is probably just space without matter.
If there is space outside our universe, then that space is *part* of our universe.
Hypothetically Nothing is beyond the Universe. Not Space, not time, not matter but a practically endless expanse (if you could call it that) of nothing.
Studtistics everything is the universe there is no end or beginning
Lang Jones what created that universe? god?
It's very difficult to comprehend the fact that space is infinite which means that it never began it has simply always been there, something very difficult to grasp.
You're correct it's a difficult concept to grasp but it's the theory that I believe to be true.
except everything has to come from somewhere. and has an age. planets and all of the substance in it didn't just pop out of nowhere.
John ... I do not believe that 'it' can be grasped.
Oh man..the questions go on! lol

You take for granted what we do know and if you were born in the future you'd take for granted what you knew then, it's not in our nature to be 'satisfied'.... so there's no satisfaction you're missing out on.
hehe, dying.
@@7sidedmint136 we're all dying to know..😃
Samuel Rs Actually, this is one of the scariest times to be alive.
We are like ants trying to understand a blade of grass.
MrMaenambeach nos we are like ants trying to understand planet earth. It’s simply out of human understanding

The process of ACTUALLY thinking about "nothing" is so incredibly difficult, your brain simply does NOT know how to process it. I asked myself what existed before everything, the answer cant be "nothing" because "nothing" does not exist, so what something started everything, and how did something come from "nothing" if "nothing" doesnt exist?
jacesaces15 I think about this a lot
jacesaces15 We are understanding in this 30 years more than we ever know of acumulation in our exitance this is the era of knowledge and we are begining to understand everithing! The thing is that the universe is a how , how things works rather than why it works when ever we try to put a why we failed beacause when you look around everthing life evolution planets sun , you get stuck when trying to find a why because there is not and never was will never be a why just things happens is like question why are planets or why theres a sun , the universe is a how not a why thats the simple truth and is hard to take it , a example that is hard to take the things are a how and not a why is the creation of god and religion the fear of not having a why , the truth is a how and for that path we need to keep moving

We are so fortunate to be a part of this amazing puzzle
This is just my thought. Space is infinite. The Blackness we see without the stars and galaxies. That doesn't end. Its nothing outside it because reality is everything that exists so what could be outside existence other than existence itself.
The most well accepted models of the Universe suggest it's infinite. Therefore, it wouldn't contain such thing as a border, since the Universe itself could be consired a closed system. In fact, most models imply the border as nonexistent.
Also I think something 13 billion years is way to young I think it has been around trillions of years
@@riley5032 I think it's been pretty well proven how old the universe is quite accurately.
