I remember the BBC allowing (possibly encouraging) Gary Lineker to open the World Cup 2022 broadcast talking about Qatar’s human rights abuses. The opening ceremony wasn’t shown and was replaced by a BBC employee giving his opinion on human rights abuses in Qatar live on the BBC, in what is the most watched televised event in the U.K. and the world. Now, is that ok because he was giving his opinion on political issues in far away places, and that these political issues he tweeted about are so much closer to home?

We need the media to refocus on the content of those messages and shed light on just how incompetent this government truly is. Only by staying focused on what truly matters can we ensure that the government is held accountable for their actions.

    The government "We're not fascists!"
Also the government "Citizens should not be allowed to criticise us, it's not acceptable!"
Gary Lineker is entitled to state his opinion, he never said anything about Suella Braverman (despite her inferring that he did).
Freedom of expression is protected under the Human Rights Act 1998 which sets out the fundamental rights and freedoms that everyone in the UK is entitled to, that by definition includes Gary Lineker.
The BBC impartiality rules relate to it's output, Gary Lineker's personal Twitter account is not owned or operated by the BBC. It is therefore not BBC output.
With regards to social media the only reference in the BBC's impartiality rules are that "external activities and public comments... can also affect perceptions of the BBC’s impartiality" it does not state employees or freelancers do not have the right to make public comments, simply that they might affect perceptions.
If the BBC feels he has broken their rules and/or his contract of employment that's for them but that doesn't mean he doesn't still have his human rights and his right to expression, those are enshrined in UK law whether Suella Braverman likes it or not, perhaps the government, people that are paid to serve the British public, should worry more about fixing the nation rather than Gary Lineker's social media.

The Conservatives like Suella Bravermans of this world , from Afghanistan, Britain,Iran, Israel ,the United States and in other parts of the world are the same.
They are devoid of any Conscience, Compassion or Empathy the most important attributes that set fully fledged decent human beings apart from the rest of the animals. They are not fully fledged decent human beings but SUB-HUMANS.
These Conservatives are crooked, decietful , self-centered , self-asorbed and totally apathetic to people's suffering.
Humans have evoleved not only biologically but are also evolving CONSCIOUSLY, with greater degree of awareness, deeper levels of insight and higher levels of intuition. People like Gary Lineker, James O'Brien and other millions of humanitarins with higher state of CONSCIOUNESS belong to this category. These are the "Woke" people the Conservative sub-humans refer to.

I looked at the Mirror channel yesterday, wall to wall comments baying for Lineker’s blood. Zero dissent, it was all about crisp and wage packets. The same on most news media channels. GBNews took it to a new level with guests frothing at the mouth in what looked like a deliberate attempt to wind everyone up. Scary. I defended him and got called a “Dangerous idiot”, which I guess is a small taste of what Lineker gets.
We’re not going to be swamped by people in dinghies, and if the threat of death doesn’t deter someone then a free flight to Rwanda isn’t going to make a difference. Either I’ve got to believe the policy maker is dumb, or the intention is something else.

It was the political language of the 30's Lineker talked about. The Holocast happened towards the end of the 30's but mainly in the 40's!
